We had this wonderful large teaching hospital account. For a period of about 2 days, the work was sparse, but it was spring and we just thought people were on vacation, etc. On the third day, we got an e-mail from our manager stating that the hospital had quietly made the conversion to EPIC without telling us and that our services would no longer be needed. I have to wonder what has happened to the humanity of these hospitals. It is all about the bottom line and if they have to step on a few MTs (or nurses or clerical staff or whoever), so be it. It just makes me sad. I went through several months of only eating two meals a day because of the loss of income, and I was by no means the only person affected. What really makes me mad is that I always worked very hard for that hospital, did my best to please, etc. They just did not care. We were expendable.
