Terminated From Transcend - 3 beautiful words

Can anyone who took the Cobra insurance tell me how that works? Do you have to contact them to participate in it or do they contact you? They sent me a letter today that I am supposed to sign and return and it mentions I have 60 days to sign up, but no more info than that.

Appreciate your sharing anything you know.

You have to contact Cobra. It is very expensive but better than going without insurance. As to Transcend, I am sorry to hear that happened to you. Transcend is using MQ's playbook; you know, the one that has no humanity in it. I hope you find something better soon.

I notified the ROM for our area and she said that a letter would be sent out shortly with all of the information we need in it. As far as COBRA is concerned, you have 60 days to apply for that, and that information is enclosed in the letter. I have been a COBRA user before, and I do know what it cost me, individual, and it was $529.00 per month. It depends on what you elect. I needed short term insurance after I quit a job until I could get benefits at my new position and I googled "short term health insurance" and came up with one much, much cheaper than Cobra. I had several calls from different companies that were bidding against each other. I found one for 3 months that cost much less than 1 month with Cobra. Not sure if you need just single coverage or family, but you might check it out.

I am looking for an individual plan, and I have had Cobra in the past at a whopping fee of $529 a month. I did look into something with United Healthcare just recently, and they offered me a plan, which I went over thoroughly, for $329 a month, which is a big savings. If you don't mind telling me which one you found, I would really appreciate it. You can send it to my e-mail address if you prefer, and thanks again!

That's what I did. I just needed a "bare bones" policy to get me in the hospital door should I need to go. I got it at State Farm, for myself only, and it was only $140.00 a month. This was about 3 years ago, so I'm sure it's more now.

I'm a Transcend employee and would really like to know what happened. Ever since all my work is now editing I'm drowning financially. Quota for benefits remains too high for straight editing.

I believe the government will subsidize two-thirds of the premium for Cobra if you lose your job. It's in the stimulus package.

I'm not sure how much info this gives, but what I got out of it is that it went only until sometime in 2009. I think it says the best place to go for the most info is irs.gov? Hope some of this helps.

They extended it in 2009 and apparently it just ended on June 1, 2010, . . that was five days ago!!! Timing seems suspicious with the firings. Transcend must benefit in some way. Anyway, Congress is working on another extension, I believe.

you were terminated, no matter if you sign up day #59. When I left the Q, it was over 900 for me and 2 kids a month, so I searched and found my own coverage, it was limited to 3 visits a year per person, but was a lot cheaper than $900. THey will contact you with teh information, or at least they did when I quit MQ.

I actually quit Transcend in January and took Cobra, the premium without the medication coverage was 260 a month, but when I sent in the 2 month premium as required, received a notice from Cobra I qualified for 130/month. I ended up calling them several times and finally got the cobra administrator, same thing with life insurance, you only have 30 days for that and after I submitted the paperwork no less than 3 times and they requested it again, I said to forget it, so disorganized in that respect.

Well after being put on 100% QA for 5 days, not passing an audit at 97.95% I was terminated today. This company is unbelievable. Quit job to take guaranteed hourly paid editor position with MedScribe (FL) 3 weeks ago. Recruiter promised huge volume of work, plenty of backup accounts on hourly pay plus CPL for transcribed lines. Was rushed through paperwork to start immediately, gave only 5 days notice to former employer (burned that bridge) for an hourly paid "sure thing". I am curious as to if the TLs are meeting their requirements. They are expected to type 75-80% of their time and get paid by the line as well . I am very suspicious that they are not typing VR all day, having their work sent to India, etc, and are getting the straight typing.
