I've been working for MModal 2 years part-time.  Other than the usual stuff, they've left me alone pretty much.  Now all of a sudden I get an email saying one client complained I'm leaving too many blanks.  Recently, I  had about a week of horrible, scratchy, low volume dictations that were not even discernible in some places and I had to leave blanks.  I think that's what they're referring to.  Since then, I'm being audited every day, where they take out random reports and scrutinize them, marking off for really petty stuff, like if I capitalize the name of a unit.  You'd think they'd be glad to have an MT with 30 years' experience, but apparently it doesn't matter.  I wouldn't be surprised if I'm suddenly terminated too.

Happened to me too. Just make sure they keep your rate the same. Make sure to check Ultipro. They might get sneaky and try to decrease your rate.

low work volumes? Maybe they are trying to downsize the MT staff, trying to weed out certain people. Someone posted a thread below that they were hiring and saw an ad for them just within the last 24 hours, does not make sense when so many here are posting about NJA.

for the occasional mistake. I qa many, many who are on 100% qa most of the time, and they are still here. I feel sorry for any having problems, but most should remember it is not easy to get fired from MM

That might be, as I find many new rules of transcription tacky and unprofessonal (in which case it would be a matter of "won't" rather than "can't.") However, I do try my best and to be coooperative.
Dont follow specs you dont agree with, but they should be - happy to have your 30 years? nm

What matters is that arbitrary unimportant rules..and yes capitalizing a friggin unit DOES NOT CHANGE MEDICAL FACTS is more important than an MT who understands medical context and can interpret the undecipherable to deliver a medical report. And now expected to deliver 100% accuracy under different rules for a myriad of accounts while editing over 400 lph in an 8 hour shift to earn a paltry living. So nice when the suits or kooaid drinkers come on the board and offer their insipid thoughts. So happy I am done with this profession and company.

You become an MTSO, keep specs to bare minimum, and see how many facilities want to use your service. He who pays the bill, make the rules.

If you're aware something you're doing is wrong, then it's no longer a mistake.

Spending decades doing the same job can be a double-edged sword; you could also end up getting complacent and making trivial errors such as capitalizing a unit.

Nobody gets fired for 1-2 errors. If you are routinely making the same sorts of errors, however, then you likely will be let go because (a) you're not learning from your mistakes or (b) you just don't care that you're making them.

it is capitalized per the DQS Standards and Guidelines. I had gotten marked off for capitalizing Internationl Unit but proved them wrong because of DQS S&G.

job. I believe the only people they do let go are ones who never work or literally work when they like. That way, MModal won't pay unemployment, which has a great deal to do why people are out of work. Too many MTs and not enough work.

OK, for your problem, it could be the account is at risk. In the olden days, they would just have a conference call and get everyone on the same page or at least inform them account was at risk. Nowadays hysteria sets in and they degrade and humiliate the MT. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Try to be careful, but, trust me, you're not the only they're getting down on.

One could argue that one could not meet their lines due to the RIDICULOUS client profiles and being bounced around from account to account. The minimum line counts were adequate when you had a PRIMARY account and actually had work in that primary. Now that you have to do 30+ accounts in a day, spend more time reading than editing, they need to adjust the line counts and requirements. You cant change the game without changing the rules.

Not meeting lines is not doing the job. Some beleive MT always - victim and MTSO always the villian. SM

Not doing your job, no matter in what capacity, not meeting lines, not working shift etc are grounds to be let go. We all know this. On this board, dont forget, you are only getting one side of the story, the MT side. There is a whole other side to consider. Like this post, MT concerned she may be let go cause she didnt capitalize something. But on further questioning, it comes to light that she doesnt always follow spec becuase she doesnt agree with them. I am sure there is something similar the MT below forgot to mention.

If MTs are not meeting lines, not following instructions, why would they not expect to be fired.

And all this brouhaha about having to read all the instructions...must just be slow. I just lost my primary and am being put on multiple accounts. Reading the instructions is No Big Deal. It also really helps now that we have the ctl-O function to look at prior reports.

Quit looking for something else to blame a lousy work ethic on.

I was so shocked to get my termination effective immediately and I did hear human resources would send me a letter but do you know what equipment needs to be returned. Just the computer or will they want the monitor, foot pedal, keyboard?  I am sure this company will want it ALL back but forgot to ask.  On the upside they pay you for the termination conference call. Well, it looks like Nuance is starting to get what they want....giving out walking papers because of their "patient safety" bullshit.  I was fired today because of their new metrics scheme and the QA pend percentage being above the minimum when 99.9% of my pends were MANDATORY pends, and because of crappy audio, VR that had to be deleted and started from scratch and dictators that don't know how to key in the right patient info and crappy dictators in general and me painstakingly suffe ...
