You've probably heard of cat-hoarders before... well, I think some MTSOs are pathological MT-HOARDERS.

They are slowing the work down for US MTs in hopes of the more experiened MTs leaving or not being able to make their line counts so they can cut their insurance out and make them part time, thus paying less and hire new people at lower rate.

Yep, and I'm done. This is ridiculous. I'm not going to sit at my computer any more hoping work is going to come in and not getting paid for that time. I came in in a merger with the first MDI...they were a good company and they promised nothing would change. Yeah right. Well I got an email today that I shouldn't have gotten (no longer work on that acct) about doing more and more VR and girls in the red better get better and do more because Transcend is striving towards complete VR, plus my ROM told me the same thing a couple weeks ago. I'm getting out of MT altogether...I'm sick of making less than I did 10 years ago. I am going back to school...already applied and found out I can get more in student aid than I was making at Transcend. Now that's pitiful...

Been down this road with Transcend - got terminated. First they make it so you don't get your line count, next you lose your insurance due to reduction of hours, PT still impossible to get line count, and then termination, but with unemployment. I was at the pay scale where I was getting over $14 -close to $15 an hour for any PTO - so that tells you at one point I was getting way over my requirements during my scheduled hours. I guess they did not like the fact that I was making good money and then made it totally impossible to even make $100 a week. When my company merged with Transcend I received a buyout bonus of $250 (from my old company) because I met 7 out of 7 requirements in order to receive it. Once you become a Transcender though I believe they target anyone making more than minimum wage and will eventually give you the boot !!!!!

Check with your TL, ask for more work. It is there. I could work 24 hours a day and not touch the backlogs on several of my accounts.

I'm sure you have a lot of work. You probably work on BeyondTxt doing VR. I am on a straight typing platform and was told more work than I can handle when I was switched and most of the time it is NOT except this awful account with so many strange account specifics you cannot even keep up and they change on a weekly basis.

I'm on straight transcription accounts, none of the MDI-MD/Transcend accounts have transitioned to BeyondText. There is works on numerous MDI accounts. Ask your TLs, and if they don't respond, ask your ROM. There is always the employee advocate. I don't know if they are putting MDI-MDers onto Transcend accounts or vice versa, but if I was with either part of Transcend and not having work, I would be professionally asking until I get an answer. There is tons of work.

Been there, done that, have multiple accounts, ALL slow. I realize that this is not true with all of Transcend, but there are a significant number of us, mostly from the merges I believe, who are having this kind of trouble and it pains us to no end to see others have more work than they can handle and even getting overtime, when (even though we have asked for more work) are denied. So save all the flames, what is true for some at Transcend is NOT true for all. If you have plenty of work consider yourself lucky to be on the good end of the stick.

I am doing the night shift, and I have almost no work at all..and I'm scrambling to find any, and I still have a long night ahead of me. This has happened frequently lately, and at this rate I will lose my medical insurance. This is truly awful!!!

I think this is the plan; they want to kick as many people off the insurance as possible because it costs them less. And to think that D. said in a conference call that she was doing this to "protect her MTs." Say WHAT?

Sometimes I really wonder if everyone here complaining about No Work really WANTS work.

Everyone insists the work is only for what, the pets? That's kinda goofy actually.

I never said I thought work was going to the "pets." I think it depends on your region, your TL and your ROM whether you get more work from your own region or outside your region. I was one of those people who would do any account the first few years I worked there...take on any work when someone was sick or vacation or they picked up a new act but I've been there 6 years and when I asked for a raise I was told I was "over the top of the pay scale" (making more than anybody else at the company) and I would not get a raise. They hired me at that amt, how is that my fault and why wouldn't I deserve a raise if I was someone they could count on? And now they want me to do VR, worker harder for even less money? I don't think so. I'm getting out of this crappy industry altogether.

Often when you claim you have work from MDI-MD or Transcend, other MTs make comments implying it's special treatment. Should have clarified that.

I haven't had a raise in 13 years, with 25 years'experience. Yrs ago MQ actually offered to pay a higher cpl on this particular very difficult full-of-ESLs account. They didn't say what the cpl was, just that it was higher. So, when I volunteered, I was told that sure, I could work on this hard as heck account but that the cpl they were offering as the differential was what I was already (and am still) making.

I'm not at the tippy top of the scale cpl but I'm closer than a lot, it seems.

I still think there are extenuating circumstances not shared here of why MTs accept no work. I get the whole TL/Region/ROM thing. I only know my personal view - I could NOT allow even a single day to go by without getting my full lines. My finances will not allow it. If I had a crappy TL/ROM/region/account, I would be working hard with every person that I could, including employee advocate up to the president of the company in order to get work.

If at every turn I was sure there was a conspiracy to keep me from getting work or keeping my insurance, I would go to another company, end of story. So what it would be a pay cut - if not making money with Transcend, then 8 cpl or whatever is better than 0 cpl at least to me.

BTW, raises haven't been given because we can be counted on, at least in my experience, since the early to mid 90s, when I got my last raise. I've been a go-to MT in every which way to no avail. It stinks.

I agree - there is plenty of work on all the accounts I'm on. If it's low one place, you go to another. My own personal opinion is that those who go the extra mile as far as meeting the PT/FT wages will always have plenty of work. There are some people, and we've all worked with them throughout the years, who do the absolute minimum just to get by. And there are those who work their butts off because that's just their nature. Saving $$$ by not paying insurance is a false premise - I think getting rid of the slackers would end up saving a company more $$$ in the long run and keep on the ones that really do work hard. Just my 2 cents worth.

Why in the world would you say that you wonder about those complaining about no work if they really want work!! That statement is ludicrous. If I say I have no work, then I have no work, and I want to work, badly. I need to pay bills, have insurance, the whole nine yards. It is not like this every night, but the nights I work from 10 p.m. on through the night, 2 nights a week, it gets pretty, pretty thin. I have also noticed that some work is left behind that no one wants and instead some MTs are taking the work that is the easiest, which I did tell the TL about. I don't appreciate it, and I know others don't either. It also does depend upon what accounts you are on. Some do flow with work, others do not. I am truly glad you have work, but don't tell people that they don't really want work.

These past few weeks there has been a tremendous amount of work on all 4 accounts.

Never have been in any trouble with them. Always had steady workflow though a bit slow at times. Only 1 account but when I asked for another for "just in case" or "backup" my TL got all antsy and said there was always work on my primary so no other accounts were needed "at this point." Stupid me didn't force it.

So, now for the last 4 weeks virtually no work. Have been able to get less than half my lines.

Every single shift have emailed my TL and put a note on my time entries that no work available and could I please have an additional account. Not a word. Not a response.

Wrote me up last week because of not meeting my requirements.

I haven't been able to talk to her at all because every time I call get her voice mail. No response to my emails.

Seems it is only a 1-way street with them.

Shame, too. I have a decent line rate and enjoyed my primary but I NEED TO WORK.

Will make one more attempt to call her tomorrow and get a 2nd account tomorrow. If not, I'm just not showing up again. What will they do - NOT PAY ME? LOL

Same scenario with me - but they fired me after 3 days of no work at all in which I was available. They will let you go - and it sounds like that is what they are leading up to. Good luck!!! You can collect partial unemmployment if you are experiencing a no job availalbe situation.

an invite to email her. If your TL is not answering your emails or phone calls, first try your ROM. If still no answer, go to CEO. There is a TON of work out there if you're versed in multispecialities and WT. My accounts were running low at one point and I responded to that initial email and whoa ... I have more than enough work now. Good luck.

I am curious as to if the TLs are meeting their requirements.  They are expected to type 75-80% of their time and get paid by the line as well .  I am very suspicious that they are not typing VR all day, having their work sent to India, etc, and are getting the straight typing.  They get paid a flat fee per month for their administrative duties on top of that.  I wonder if they are experiencing no work and looking at a blank screen most of their time& ...

I have read dozens of posts on the board about Transcend, some good and a lot not so good.  However, I think there is an explanation for some MTs loving it there and others hating it so much. Transcend is a company made up of many other companies through mergers. The original Transcend who existed first, before acquiring other companies seems to be the problem.  On the other hand, for example MDI/Transcend, for the most part does not seem to fit that description. I was with the company for over five years, not once failing to meet the requirements of me yet I was told my position would have to change to 2nd or 3rd shift if I wanted to keep my job as there were no positions available for 1st shift.  Two days after resigning I see they are hiring for 1st shift positions on a typing only platform which is what I wanted. Did anyone else get the memo from Transcend (soon to take over from DTS) about the line rate change for the transitioning employees from DTS?  It was elegantly written, but basically it said that when the accounts are switched over the VR that the line rates will decrease but productivity will increase and no cut in pay is expected.  It is happening exactly how the posters on this board that have been through takeovers by Transcend said - decreased pay. I have been with Transcend for several years.  I loved Transcend in the beginning.  The people cared about me, actually made me feel worthy and valued (25+ years experience) and I felt as though I was part of a family.  I was one of the highest producers because I actually ENJOYED my job.  My quality score, even with high production was over 99% consistently.  Something I took MUCH pride in.  In the past year, all of that has changed drastically...so drastically.&nb ...

At least when they bought my smaller company they didn't cut my pay.  Restructured it, yes, since they didn't pay incentive bonuses, but made absolutely sure I didn't lose money.  Nuance, on the other hand, just gutted me after buying Transcend.  MASSIVE pay cut that is now causing me to have to find a second job.  I already have worked every weekend and almost every holiday for the last 12 years I've been in this industry, now I get to work 7 days a week ...
