I was so shocked to get my termination effective immediately and I did hear human resources would send me a letter but do you know what equipment needs to be returned. Just the computer or will they want the monitor, foot pedal, keyboard? I am sure this company will want it ALL back but forgot to ask. On the upside they pay you for the termination conference call. I always thought those terminated surely were not working their hours or had bad quality but I can assure you that is not the case at all. I was even told when I asked the last time people were let go that part timers served a purpose. Well I guess my purpose was served and I was terminated with no notice. I truly wish everyone that survived this mass termination the very best and hope you are never blindsided like I was.

I think it's just the monitor and CPU. I know it's not the headphone, keyboard and mouse. Not sure about speakers though...

I told them if they wanted their tower back they could send me a pre-paid box to put it in, and they did. UPS delivered it to my door and I called them to come pick it up when I packed it and left it on the front porch. I'm sorry you were let go. It is hard to take when you put so much of your time and talent in and they don't give a S***. Know you aren't alone and you didn't do anything wrong. They will terminate all US workers as soon as they can. I am going to have a big laugh when Big Government says no more off-shoring and they have no one to type their reports.

I have a lot of friends and neighbors who are either out of work or have had drastic pay cuts. Construction workers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, factory workers, executives, etc. It seems that no one is safe. Every day, it seems that there is something in the news about layoffs or company closings. Two hospitals in our city closed this year, and there are a lot of empty strip mall stores. I feel bad for all of us; what is going to happen when the new healthcare act kicks in? Will companies lay people off even faster? Will there be a such thing as part-time employees anymore? This is all so scary.

the healthcare that is destroying our economy and our jobs, it is the fact that all our jobs are going overseas and the government won't do anything to keep them here. This started a long time ago (way before the healthcare act) and it is happening more and more and will continue until our politicians do something to keep work here.

I am so sorry that this is happening to the domestic MTs at M-Modal. My in-house MT job was offshored about a year ago and about 15 of us were displaced. I was very lucky to get another job but I did take a pay cut, so what you say is true. The facility where I work merged with another one for financial reasons. Most of our job postings now are for temporary spots. I actually see more part-time jobs than full-time in the future as it saves employers money on benefits.

Quit job to take guaranteed hourly paid editor position with MedScribe (FL) 3 weeks ago. Recruiter promised huge volume of work, plenty of backup accounts on hourly pay plus CPL for transcribed lines. Was rushed through paperwork to start immediately, gave only 5 days notice to former employer (burned that bridge) for an hourly paid "sure thing". Never saw hourly pay; only 0.08 CPL for full transcribe acute care, and only to catch up an out-of-TAT acct they knew was bailing ...
