Webmedx MTs/QA Terminated - IMPORTANT!! - Please, please sm

We can request a petition for Trade Adjustment Act assistance be filed against Webmedx because of the nature of this termination (reduction in force) and more than 3 MTs/QA were terminated. 

Each one of you who was terminated:

1.  Immediately contact your state's Department of Workforce Services.  (A)  File an unemployment claim immediately.  (B)  Request that a TAA petition be filed.  Use the Atlanta location (Corp Office) and Pittsburgh location (Operations Center) in the request.  Chances are your state's DWS has a Rapid Response Team for the Dislocated Workers' Program.  Demand a petition be filed.  This will offer you paid retraining and possibly other benefits, too!

2.  Spread the word to every MT/QA that was terminated - everywhere! 

3.  Need help finding your state's DWS office?  Go to Google and type in your state and "Workforce Services" in the search field.

4.  Apply for food stamps with your local Department of Human Services (DHS) office.  You are unemployed today so file today! 

5.  Make sure you keep those emails and termination notices.  Make copies of the community page (I cannot access it any longer) for those of you who would please provide copies to us.  ANY INFORMATION we have to give the TAA Rapid Response Team will help!

These safety nets are meant to keep people from losing all they have and sliding all the way to the bottom. They do not arrest the slide completely and do not--CAN NOT--replace those regular paychecks.

So sure, fill out some forms for insurance--but only after the job research is done, calls made, resumes are out, and tests are scheduled.

Actually under TAA you can be guaranteed further - UE pay and bennies while retraining.

Make sure you know a little more on what you are talking about before dismissing it.

I should know. I am in TAA-approved retraining from MQ. When my UE claim with MQ ran out, TAA guaranteed it another 24 months and I am almost a year into my 2-yr program.

MTs and QAs at Webmedx got e-mails telling them that their services were no longer needed and they were being laid off. After that they were locked out of the system and when they tried to call HR or their supervisors, they would not answer their phones.

We are upset not because of the lay offs, that is a pure business decision and although it would have been painful, we would have accepted that. It is the COLD, CALLOUS way in which this was perpetrated. First to lay people off by e-mail, then to not answer the phone shows an astonishing lack of class for a company that touts itself as being Employer of the Year.

Nobody really knows who all was laid off. We hear from a friend who knew somebody. People come here and post what little they do know. We are all trying to piece this puzzle together just like everyone else.

Sorry that we are monopolizing the board at the moment, but you must realize people are in shock! They are devastated and this is the only place we can talk to one another and share our experiences.

It's just those silly name-calling ones that fill up the board with garbage and make the company look better and the MTs look like people who should have been fired long ago. the TAA, you will likely qualify for child care assistance while being retrained, so don't let that keep you from filing. Plug yourself into every system you can find for assistance and all needs should be taken care of.

If anyone was over 50 and was laid off, the TAA page also addresses services for older workers who have been displaced.

Please don't just pray for another job. File a petition for this - this could be your "out" of the industry into someting that pays better and is less taxing on the body.

I'm the one with the 6-year-old and 3-year-old. I have applied for unemployment, social security disability (have been battling depression and anxiety) and food stamps. It's all I can do for my kids. Hoping to get my younger one in HeadStart now that I qualify. My older one starts school Tuesday and I'm a mess. Picture day and open house tonight and not sure how I'm going to make it through. I printed off the app for TAA and am going to work on it tonight. I'm under so much stress it's horrible. :(

It sounds like you need more security right now and a quick lessening of insecurity--giant stressor. Hopefully you will qualify for whatever aid you need very quickly.

In the meantime, I'm very sincerely recommending you take a little hiatus from the noise on this board. We older people remember a national fad when letting it all hang out, acting out, getting it all out, was thought to be healthy. It's not. It makes it worse.

As always, focus for joy and comfort on your sweet little ones. Do a fair number of the things you're supposed to, forgive yourself for the rest, stay away from poisonous people and poisonous thoughts, and you will feel better.

...shut down their company and send all their work overseas. They lost an account that resulted in a few layoffs. The account went to another company.

Let's say you work for a clothing manufacturer, and your employer shuts down completely and sends all operations to Mexico. THAT is what the TAA program is for.
