Yes, got the call about a half hour ago. Guess I can collect now. I know others are being fired today too. Must say my TSM and QA were superb people and I know it is not their decision. I will come back and say more later but right now I need to settle down and think, take a long walk. There are other transcriptionist places I absolutely know will hire me, but I only want to work part time. This stinks. MModal is the most scrupulous, heartless, horribly run company I have ever known and at 60, I've been around.

Thanks. Yes, North region. JL and LC initials. They were the best! I told J that she might be next eventually. It just came out of my mouth. Not wishing that and I told her this company s__ks. They just lost a good worker. Been doing this since my son was 6 months old. He's almost 26 and thank God he works for a great company, that pays well, etc. and treats him and the others well.

fired implies you did something wrong like failing audits. Laid off means they do not need you anymore and you can go through with the TAA program and collect UE. Good luck.

TSM, initials JL (very nice lady) North Region (I live in Jersey!)...said they are consolidating part-timers to give work for the full-timers. Actually, my head was spinning so I don't remember her exact words. Fired or let go....I will collect. She said I did nothing wrong. Even if I had done something wrong, I truly believe I would still collect. My husband was fired "let go" in January (did nothing wrong too) and he just signed online for unemployment and those checks kept coming. Thank God he found a great job last month and we are okay. My turn now. But it is very sad and insulting nonetheless to be "let go" or whatever. MMODAL s___ks.
Thank you for wishing me good luck. After the sadness and anger wear off eventually I'll find something. If not, then I'll just retire early. I am the type that stays busy no matter what. Guess I can paint the trim in my house that I've been putting off, gardening, shopping, cooking, stuff I like to do.

UE was just a fraction (I'd say 1/3) of what he made, but fortunately he has always made a good salary which is why I'm not crying too hard (but I still have to have a good cry). He's a pharmacist and the hospital he worked for were trying to save money...long story.....but being my age, 60, it wasn't that easy to find something else, like in the old days. Luckily he found something very good. Just not paying COBRA every month (was about $1600.00 a month! for 3 of us) is such a savings. Plus, my husband was always a saver. I used to think, what the heck is he saving so much for...but now I am glad. Thanks for all the good wishes to everyone here. I will still be reading this blog out of habit and curiosity. This board is the one place we can speak our minds since the corrupt suits don't give a sh.....

I complain all the time. I get jobs that I make less than $4, yes that's right sometimes even less with ESL doctor and long reports that you get paid $1.20 for. I'm waiting for them to let me go rather than quit. Just waiting for unemployment from these fools who think we will do any work at a drop of a hat for them and not be compensated for it.

They start all new hires at 8 and 4. They can lay off all those making above that who live in states that require some sort of downtime pay and come out ahead.

I think they let go of people making the top of their pay scale so they could bring in cheaper labor. BTW, does any one think the new OOW policy should be challenged? Forced to give up PTO, excused absences or make up at their discretion? Were we employees or not? File for unemployment NOW!!!!

These MM folks are a piece of work. The pay gets lower and lower and lower, and many MTs are now hoping and praying to get laid off so they can collect UE; but doesn't your UE check get based on the pay you were earning? If one is earning next to nothing, anyway, how does that work for how much your UE benefit works out to be?

I didn't accept the job offer when MM took over my former company, so I wasn't ever qualified for UE. It took me many, many months to find another job outside of MT. The employment outlook is much better now than it was for me, so I wish all the best for all of you who were laid off today. I know how much it stinks, but, believe me, you'll sleep better now, being out from under this company.

Quit job to take guaranteed hourly paid editor position with MedScribe (FL) 3 weeks ago. Recruiter promised huge volume of work, plenty of backup accounts on hourly pay plus CPL for transcribed lines. Was rushed through paperwork to start immediately, gave only 5 days notice to former employer (burned that bridge) for an hourly paid "sure thing". DQS is driving me crazy today. When I push the pedal, it takes a couple seconds to start playing. If I let off the pedal, it keeps going for a couple seconds and I can't get it to stop. The typing I am doing does not keep up with my finger speed either, with words not showing up until after I've typed them. I use my own computer and have never encountered this issue before. It is a major hindrance though, slowing me down. What's next? ...
