this week I was terminated, along with several others, from a different company. I was an excellent MT, as reflected in my reviews and monthly QA reports. I knew that something was coming, but never suspected how/what happened.
I hated my account, I hated working on MModal platform, I just hated everything about my job and was so stressed I was physically sick many days, but I never missed a day of work.
I can't tell you it has been easy. I still have not been able to find a job, in or out of MT. I have gone back to school.
File for unemployment. You won't get compensation for the first week. You can do it all online and it takes only a few minutes. Allow yourself a couple of weeks of downtime to regroup, but then utilize every resource available. Check your state's unemployment website for resources. Take the free classes offered. Work on your résumé/cover letter. File a TAA petition. If approved it doesn't kick in until unemployment runs out, but the process takes a while. I'm still waiting for determination on mine.
I can't say it has been easy. There are days where I'm so depressed that I don't accomplish anything. I'm glad to have unemployment, but it doesn't even cover my mortgage payment and my savings is almost depleted. Volunteer, go for walks, find a hobby, declutter your house, etc. Don't look back. Think of this as a blessing in disguise and just keep going forward. Do not let this affect your self-esteem.
Feel free to email me if you would like.
If you haven't been terminated yet be proactive and start looking at your options now.
