for a hospital who supplies the PC and it has McAfee on it. If I'm able to manually perform a scan on the PC, I have no idea how and I have had problems with malware, spyware, and trojans three different times in the last year. McAfee has never once popped up to tell me about a potential virus threat. So now I am tempted to buy my own antivirus software and load it onto the PC even though we're not supposed to do that. It's getting ridiculous though and I am very, very, VERY frustrated.
The help desk tech at the hospital acts like it's my fault. That I'm doing something I shouldn't be doing on the internet which I am not. I use google and research stuff I am not familiar with like new catheters and surgical equipment, etc. Sometimes I click on the one or two of the links that come up when I do a google search not realizing that the site is bad or has virus or whatever. So basically I'm not supposed to get on the internet at all with their PC because McAfee is not protecting it.
I have Symantec Endpoint Protection with antivirus and antispyware protection on my personal PC (the one I'm using now) and have not had a problem once. The only reason I haven't loaded it on the hospital PC is because we're not supposed to and I'm not sure how it will interact with the McAfee.
I'm currently trying to fix a "fake security alert" virus right now. I've run my anti-malware software at least 10 times now and still can't get rid of it. I will probably end up calling the help desk in the morning so they can fix it and treat me like I'm some sort of criminal.
