Does anyone know if iMedX installs tracking software under the guise of an antivirus program on employees personal computers when hired?

I certainly hope they don't! As far as I know, we choose/use whatever antivirus program we want, especially on our own computers. I've not been offered anything at all on mine other than the programs needed to do the job.

While it's technically feasible, I would consider it highly, highly unlikely. Simply put, they'd be insane to do something like that without full disclosure. If they did it and you could prove it, a good lawyer would eat them alive.

People who should know better can certainly be stupid and arrogant enough to try that sort of nonsense.
I say, install your own AV software, from a known and trusted vendor, first.

I'm being told it is mandatory, but I really do not have a good feeling about it. If you read these boards, it sounds as if M*Modal is attempting the same thing. I put nothing past any of these companies.
Tracking software was part of my former - company"s regular software.

I got around that by buying a laptop and using that for doing my email, MT Stars, surfing, and storage of email and IM copies for documentation. I simply copied files I wanted to save onto a flash drive, transferred to my laptop, and erased from the document files of my work computer.

They have put their platform(s) on my computer but no virus software, never asked me if I wanted that (but have my own anyway). So no, I don't think they do that. What even put that into your head? ANY company that did that on your personal computer would be setting themselves up for a huge can of worms if they ever did that (and it was discovered). I run my virus scan every day, and it picks off anything I "catch" on my daily prowls on the internet (tracking and potential viruses).
Hi there - i work for a hospital but we were sent home to type 1 year ago. Now my Norton's antivirus is up I was just told by the director of our department that I have to pay for the subscription myself ($45!) and then be reimbursed by the hospital....is this the way it is done? Seems to me it is a little iffy - just wanted some opinions....thanks! ...
do they hold your final check until they receive the equipment? My payday is supposed to be Friday and they were supposed to send me the tags to send back the equipment, but I have not received them yet, and I am thinking I will maybe not be paid on Friday if they have not received the equipment. TIA ...
has crashed my personal laptop 3 times, at a cost of $220 to me so far for repair, and makes it so slow that I cannot use it. I also cannot use it for anything personal AT ALL. I worked full-time with no problem, including the day of their download, until this antivirus was loaded. I am able to work with this at a slower pace so far but am unable to otherwise use a very expensive laptop that I purchased myself.
Opinion? We are told to use it or quit. ...
I am in the process of transitioning jobs and will be going from a company-provided computer to my own. Any suggestions on what software programs are needed, virus protection, word expanders, line counting, and hardware like foot pedal? The hospital I am looking into will be using Microsoft Word. Any comments on whether this is a good program or not to transcribe on? Any tips? I have been with the same company for 15 years, so have been out of the loop and need ...
Does Medquist still provide a computer to transcriptionists. If so, is there a rental fee or deposit fee? Also, is this only for full-time or also for part-time? Thanks! ...
Those of us working from .07 to .08 cents per line with a service are making .03 cents per line less than we made 25 years ago. How many of you have reduced the services you used to do for clients to compensate for this gross reduction in wages? Is that an option? Should we stop doing ANYTHING but pounding the keyboard, afterall, that is all was get paid for. The rest of our services are unpaid: research, verifying patient data, keeping spreadsheets for the client, phone calls, installing so ...
The Web/Nuance part has been told next year we have to buy our own Shorthand license. I know Transcend downloaded for me (and am still using at my PT job) shorthand licensed to MDI way back when. Will we get to keep that? If part of Nuance (Trans/Nuance) gets to have it provided free I would think they could figure a way to let the rest of us have it also. ...
I've got several options out there. I was with MQ/TL for 12 years. Transcription experience 25 years. I'm getting a little freaked out about learning a new platform. I don't even know Microsoft Word! I did manage to muddle through it to type a new resume though. Not too hard. How much should an IC charge per line to cover taxes, expenses? Any IC advice would be helpful. Thanks. ...
It says it is a trail version though. Did everyone pay for their own word expander or did MModal provide it? I'm wondering why they put Shorthand on desktop and then we have to pay for it. ...
What is the best antivirus for the MT profession. I was using AVG. One of the docs got a virus on his PC and when he transferred files to the server, some of us picked up the virus by downloading the files. What is the best antivirus for the cost? ...
Somehow I have gotten this virus on my laptop and when searching for ways to remove it on the internet (on my desktop), all the sites are either extremely comlicated or want you to download things in order to remove it. The problem with downloading is that I can't even get to the internet on my laptop. It blocks anywhere I want to go but brings up constant pages of porn. Any suggestions on how to remove this or do I just need to take it in somewhere???
Thank ...
Having issues with my antivirus and Extext with the install. What is the best protection to use with Extext. I have resorted to AVG which I do not care for...TIA. ...
I just wanted to say how grateful I am for this board. I posted a few weeks ago how I hated Kapersky and how it kept updating while I was working and stalled my computer out. Some great advice was posted on this board about exiting the program and running when YOU want, not when MQ decides to run it and also names of other virus protection programs other than Kapersky (and McAffee which is just as bad). I tried exiting Kapersky which worked okay, but I finally removed it and in ...
I have been using Nortons, but keep having problems. I really don't want to spend more money since I just paid $70 for this and it is giving me problems.
Thanks ...
call support, they will e-mail you the new # to get it renewed. The e-mail that told us they were "working on it" and not to call them is flat wrong. After mine expired, I got complained to my QC who told me to definitely call support. Two minute conversation with support, and *boom* I was back up and running. ...
I have Kaspersky antivirus on my laptop. I'm getting kind of afraid of keeping it based on what I read regarding the spying and it being owned by Russia, etc. Please respond if you are truly a tech person. Thank you.

Nasty virus going around that attacks your internet explorer and basically will only let you go to 1 website, the site to buy the antivirus to take care of the problem. When I called support they just took my address to send me a new computer. Just a heads up to you all. Oh yes and this was with Kapersky already installed. ...
for a hospital who supplies the PC and it has McAfee on it. If I'm able to manually perform a scan on the PC, I have no idea how and I have had problems with malware, spyware, and trojans three different times in the last year. McAfee has never once popped up to tell me about a potential virus threat. So now I am tempted to buy my own antivirus software and load it onto the PC even though we're not supposed to do that. It's getting ridiculous though and I a ...
Any one else having problems with the antivirus not working. I have had them work on the computer. I have virus coverage but it does not update anymore like it used to every day. Had a file deleted that supposedly blocked it. I just hate calling those techs again and trying to communicate. ...
On 10/8/13 I downloaded Antivirus Security Pro per instructions and they immediately charged my credit card $99.99. It was started that I was automatically granted a 12-month access in which to re-download at any time. When downloaded, there was an icon on the desktop and the program listed in the folder on C drive. My old antivirus was still good, so I did not try to the product right away. Around 11/1/13 did try it and it had disappeared, icon and program. Tried t ...
I'm new to A Plus Network Transcription. Wondering what antivirus program other MTs use with the TA+ system. I have Microsoft Essentials and it seems to be causing problems. I can't accept my feedback or dictator samples. Thanks for any advice. ...
I have just spent the better part of my evening waging war against a very pesky and persistent virus called backdoor.cycbot. After several scans in safe mode, I think I finally got it, but now a bunch of my desktop icons are gone and on my start menu, when you click on the program name, there's nothing, just the word "empty." Long story short, I had manually find all my programs through Windows Explorer and creat a shortcut on my desktop for each and every one of them and I stil ...
I'm curious to know what types of good antivirus software are being used by ICs out there who are working from home and transferring files via ftp. I have Windows Defender, Malware, and McAfee, as well as real-time updates, email and internet security and a firewall.
Also what about file backup?
Thanks! ...
a free-trial antivirus? My current one is expiring very shortly & I cannot afford what they're asking just right now.
Some anti-virus programs will advertise FREE when you google them, then will require you to pay up front. Some will let you upload them and "Save" them, but then won't open or work when you try. Will appreciate any advice. Thx.
