What is the best antivirus for the MT profession. I was using AVG. One of the docs got a virus on his PC and when he transferred files to the server, some of us picked up the virus by downloading the files. What is the best antivirus for the cost?

I just found out the hard way that the free version of AVG doesn't block stuff..it only lets you know once you're infected. I'd used the pay version for a long time with no problems. Trying to save money, I got the free one when renewal time rolled around and wallah! Got me a good ole virus!

I got a virus with the free version before. I heard that the free version did miss some viruses, so I paid for it. I still got a virus. My license is expiring, so I want something better.

Vipre - MTforever

I've been using Vipre (yes, that's the correct spelling) for the last 3 years and have never had a virus since using it. Would totally recommend it.

Does it cause programs to lag when scanning? - annie

Norton came preinstalled on my new computer, but causes Word to lag really bad. I noticed yesterday that I sometimes I would have a couple of lines typed before they would actually show up in the document.

There's no lag with Vipre at all. You don't even realise it's running in the background.

That is what I am looking for. I definitely need something better than this Norton free full version trial that came with my PC. I hate it. I have had to either pause the scan while working or stop working every time due to the lag in my programs.

AVG is a terrible antivirus. Avira is one of the best out there - - I use the free version and it is fantastic!

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for this board. I posted a few weeks ago how I hated Kapersky and how it kept updating while I was working and stalled my computer out. I have Kaspersky antivirus on my laptop. for a hospital who supplies the PC and it has McAfee on it. If I'm able to manually perform a scan on the PC, I have no idea how and I have had problems with malware, spyware, and trojans three different times in the last year. has crashed my personal laptop 3 times, at a cost of $220 to me so far for repair, and makes it so slow that I cannot use it. I also cannot use it for anything personal AT ALL. This dumb antivirus seems to update or scan at least once an hour making my computer stall out and Docuscribe becomes unresponsive. This was the reason I disabled McAffee!! Tech support promised me Kapersky would be better- that was my first mistake, listening to the tech people. Is there any way to stop this thing from running a scan all the freaking time?
