Thanks for the antivirus advice - NE MT

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for this board. I posted a few weeks ago how I hated Kapersky and how it kept updating while I was working and stalled my computer out. Some great advice was posted on this board about exiting the program and running when YOU want, not when MQ decides to run it and also names of other virus protection programs other than Kapersky (and McAffee which is just as bad). I tried exiting Kapersky which worked okay, but I finally removed it and installed one of the virus protection programs and my computer is running better than ever. Tech support kept telling me it was my fault- my internet connection, my lack of defragmenting the computer (not true!), etc. Without this board I would have never realized that Kapersky was actually the problem, not me or my internet connection. The program takes up way too much RAM on these old MQ dinosaur computers that they gave us- I figured it out, but our MQ computer techs couldn't? How much of a kickback is MQ getting for having us install this Kapersky?

I just downloaded the free version. I actually was able to install it while I was working and then set the scan to run when I wasn't working. I certainly was not going to spend any money for AV for this MQ computer, but I also couldn't afford the time Kapersky was costing me by stalling out and updating all the time. I was going to go without AV protection at all, reasoning that if it crashed I would just send it back anyway. AVG was free and it doesn't make my computer stall out any more- win/win as far as I am concerned!

Isn't there a way to set Kaspersky so it doesn't update while you are working? I have the same problem on the computer that I own but I don't really want to get rid of Kaspersky. Any ideas?

There was absolutely no way to set the updating schedule and tech support was surely no support.

I have Kaspersky antivirus on my laptop. for a hospital who supplies the PC and it has McAfee on it. If I'm able to manually perform a scan on the PC, I have no idea how and I have had problems with malware, spyware, and trojans three different times in the last year. This dumb antivirus seems to update or scan at least once an hour making my computer stall out and Docuscribe becomes unresponsive. This was the reason I disabled McAffee!! Tech support promised me Kapersky would be better- that was my first mistake, listening to the tech people. Is there any way to stop this thing from running a scan all the freaking time?
