I do not want Ms. Lake punished for what I have written. I do not know her, and I have no idea who the OP is. I have spoken the truth plainly as I see it, OP is is in the wrong, I explained tHe reasons why.
I was a small business owner, I am now retired except for one small account for a pain specialist who is also almost retired. I dealt with the same problem that clearly Ms. Lake is dealing with, and I can't help but remember as if it was yesterday (although now 3 years ago) the resentment and frustration I felt with MTs like OP. Sometimes, more than anything, I just wanted some free time. I wanted to hire someone who would take the load off my shoulders for a day or two, who would return the work in the same condition that I returned it to the client, and within TAT. For that, I was willing to pay top dollar.
I earned 14.5 cents a line, of which I paid 1.5 cents a line to my son to do the bookkeeping. I would pay the MTs I tried to hire 13 cents a line for the work I gave them to do. I made no profit, I just wanted some free time.
I always told my MTs I needed them to go back and listen to every word. My clients were fussy and I was being paid top dollar for this area. I did not want to lose the accounts.
NEVER EVER EVER did my subs do this. NEVER! Not once. If you listen to your work, you catch your errors. So, the work always came back very sloppy because my subs just did not have the time, they said, to proof the work the way I wanted, or they lied and said they did when it was obvious they did not.
So, I always ended up having to deal with the reports anyway, losing money and still no free time!
I finally gave up on trying to find an MT with professional standards who wanted to earn professional money, and retired. I haven't even posted to the tech forum as "MacroDiva" for about 3 years; although I enjoyed solving the problems people would present to me, and I believe I was some real help to beleagered MTs working with word-based but cumbersome platforms.
I believe too that what I have written today would benefit all of you if you would only try to comprehend instead of calling me an idiot.
I have not even looked at this forum in several years, and the only reason I did look in on this was because I decided I should find a little work to do because I need to replace my septic tank, and now I have landed in another sort of septic tank. Right now, I am paying Sani-Hut $150/month for a temporary tank and so not setting the money aside to put in a new tank. My only reason for even thinking about working at home for what I consider too-low pay is because Covid has not completely died out yet.
Now, I am going to "dox" myself in the interest of protecting Ms. Lake who, in my opinion, has done nothing wrong, except if I were her, I would pay OP for her probably worthless work, and be done with it.
