Being refused liability insurance because no "official transcriptionist certificate." - Sam

Posted: Oct 28th, 2019 - 1:10 pm

I'm actually a medical provider, unable to work clinically due to a health condition at the moment.  Trying to get into MT, a natural transition, but I am hitting hurdles.  First, I applied to AHDI's insurance provider for liability insurance.  They sent me back a letter, refusing me coverage, because I don't hold "official" certification as an MT.   I'm absolutely insensed by this.   I have years of clinical experience, but since I don't have a piece of paper, I can't get coverage.  Are there any life-experience-based transcriptionist certificates that would not entail me sitting through 3 months of useless online courses?  Or another insurance carrier?
