I think people got a bit miffed because you assume this is a natural transition; it's not. Further, please don't purchase a darn thing until you read all of this thread!

You are correct that a 3-month online course is useless, but not because of your knowledge. It's because you can't learn this in 3 months.

As to insurance, ICs completely on their own sometimes purchase insurance. But most MTs work for national agencies. Trying to pound the pavement to get clinic accounts is a thing of the past. They use simple point and click on their own, not even employing MTs.

Hospitals are mostly using the nationals now, so you'd end up working for one of them anyway.
