A VOTE FOR JUMPING SHIP - LETS BE HONEST

I agree with you. Some of us ARE college-educated professionals. But transcription has been oversold to many lazy, borderline illiterate people who only see that we work from home. They are not qualified to be transcriptionists, their work is poor, and then everyone wonders why transcriptionists are no longer respected. There needed to be a mandatory certification process to become a transcriptionist, like there is for coding, but it's too late for that. I've tried hiring transcriptionists -- for every one qualified, accurate, intelligent one there are another twelve who just type words and don't even understand what the words mean. If you have respect for yourself, don't accept working for minimum wage but understand that you are probably going to have to leave the field entirely. Yes, transcription is a skill, but as long as it is treated like unskilled labor, it's going to pay like unskilled labor.
