Come inside for a reality check and fresh air... - Ex-MT

Posted: Apr 17th, 2016 - 4:54 pm In Reply to: MTs - Demand Respect! - Belinda C.

You are educated if you have a 2-yr or a 4-yr degree from an actual college. If you consider graduating from a tech school or correspondance school for MTs, you are alone with that opinion in this world. No one else regards MT school as an education. I know, these are harsh words but you all need to hear them so your head is clear and your path is more obvious.

I was an MT for 20-something years. I was In back when $25 an hour was the average wage and we never looked for jobs - they looked for us.

I don't have to tell you those days are over and they are not coming back. We thought we would "band together" too. LOL. Do you see what good it did? All of you, right now, are reaping the rewards of our successes.

I got out and I did it by taking the body of knowledge of MT, finishing a 2-yr degree in nursing pre-req even though I had no intention of applying for a nursing program. But it looked killer on my resume from that point forward. I aimed for a position in the most respected dept in the most respected hospital I could find within 100 miles and commuted there for a year. I took that and parlayed it into a really good State job.

It can be done. Just ask me.
