Hey suits and others reading this...Do the hospitals know their work is being sent offshore? - New

Posted: Jun 03, 2013

Are we taking for granted the "clients" hospitals know where the work goes, but DO THEY really? Wonder. Even if they DO know, bet most patients/people don't.  Wish there was a way to spread the word around.  Bet most people would be outraged.  It also seems like not such a good idea for national security, or just for privacy sake, to send medical records, information, all over they world (yeah, yeah, I know, not ALL over the word...not yet).  GREED is such an awful thing.

All the MTs who are patients need to start speaking up - and telling the public. SM

Lots of people do care, once they know. Doctors probably know some about it and dont like it, but the suits in admin stifle any protests with their excuses to cut costs.

Everyone needs to start speaking up, drag all this dirt into the open and then maybe something would get done. We don't know until we try. What's the alternative? Sit here with our mouths shut and let our wages keep getting cut further until we work for free???

Everybody needs to say something and get the word out to where there's enough stink made that something will be done.

I speak up and educate doctors, friends, anybody I meet, but - dnr

The truth is, we have little to no power as the suits only care about cost.

The genie is out of the bottle.

I believe they have to agree to it. I know at least one of our accounts was pulled back - because client was unhappy

Legally, they must inform and offer an opt out. - dnr

This was legislatively enacted after an ILP held work hostage. Clients, at that time, generally, did not know their work was being sent offshore by MTSOs.

There was outrage and knee jerk reaction by the senators in Calif., and this was the legislature's watered down solution. There were those who wanted offshore medical documentation banned.

No one in the US cares but us - and heres why I know

Did anyone do anything when all tech support went offshore? I am not talking about MModal's tech support, I am talking everywhere; credit card companies, internet services, cell phone companies, tech support for all cameras, TVs, computers, the list goes on and on and on. Everyone wants cheap, and its proven by the ugliest giant Wal-Mart. People want cheap and will do whatever necessary to get it.

I know I'm a drop in the bucket, but I REFUSE to - shop @Walmart & others like them.

[ In Reply To ..]
I get better quality apparel buying used, or making my own. I get better prices on most other things by shopping sales at smaller retailers, or by looking for used on eBay. I also refuse to eat at fast food restaurants.. only go to my town's mom-n-pop eateries. FAR better food, and more of it.

As long as Americans continue to walk in Walmart's doors, they'll continue to cheat American workers with low pay and poor benefits, and will continue to cheat American shoppers with cheap Chinese junk products.

I also do not shop at Walmart - Happy with M Modal

can't stand it
Interesting that you do not shop at Walmart - but you are "Happy with M Modal"

lol, not sure I can even wrap my brain around the hypocrisy of that one.

speaking up - MT Gone

I have noticed more and more that some companies are bringing the tech support/customer service back to the states. And, as a consumer YOU have the right to ask to be transferred to a US based person if you call and get "Peggy" from India on the line. I even asked where a person was once, they said Denver, CO....so pretending to just chat I asked "how's the weather there today." I was sitting at my computer, and looking at the weather for Denver as we spoke - let's just say that company lost a customer!!! LOL

My own PCP at a large clinic still thinks they - have an MT Dept. Docs are clueless.

Who cares? - Hippiechick

It is not that people don't care, they can't care. People are so overwhelmed with so many bigger issues in their lives, like how they might eat tomorrow or buy Tylenol for their child, that they don't have any space left in them to care. They can't care about something like that. I think people are emotionally numb, and unless they work in the medical arena, they just have no knowledge of this, and if they did, well, there is no room or time or heart or emotional stability left to cram in one more piece of bad news. Even I have begun shutting out things before I implode. I have faith in God and in myself because those are the only 2 people I know always will have my best interests at heart. And because of that, I am happy in all circumstances. Anger just makes my stomach hurt so I refuse to allow it into my life. This situation is probably here to stay, so we have to figure out how to cope with it or get out of it, and both ways are fine in my book. However you can find happiness in your life to stomp out the anger which will make you ill.

applause!! - nm

Offshore Transcription Stories Wanted- Medical Malpractice Cases Related To Offshore Transcription M
Oct 15, 2009

A legal contact was inquiring about the connection of medical mistakes related to off-shored transcription mistakes.  I have told him to review these boards and hopefully he will benefit from the information here.  While he did not discuss the exact case, I think that he will be able to use the off-shore transcription issue to his client's benefit or at least highlight that the provider in question does not have as rigorous control on processing records as other pr ...

More Suits....
Jun 06, 2012

Do we really need all these upper management people?  We get an introduction email at least once a month......I feel another pay cut coming on or at least changes to DQS that will put more money in their pocket.  What are we getting paid for now that they can somehow manage not to pay us for?   ...

Suits Are Good!
Sep 12, 2010

Suits are just everyday people that have taken their careers toward management, usually just by accident. There are good suits and bad suits. We aren't all the same. Sometimes we suits become non-suits again or move back and forth. This "suit" talk is silly. We're all just people who are doing the best we can. It's even harder these days with a horrible economy, but we all do our best. Management is not the enemy. ...

Hey CBAY Suits
Mar 26, 2011

Why dont ya just open up all the regions into one clump and let us have a giant cesspool?  Then every report that pops up will get assigned out immediately and there will be instant TAT!  If you do it quick enough, you can beat all the other MTSOs to it and be the leader of the pack!  I mean, seriously, jumping from the 15 to 20 now is such a piece of cake, and you really dont want me thinking I have the upper hand here, do you? ...

Dec 22, 2013

First off, because I am polite, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas. Now, I must ask, have you any idea as to the degree of financial devastation and destruction you have caused your MLSs? Are you aware that some have lost their homes and others are in the process of same due to a paycheck that is up to 50% less than what it used to be? Do you know or care that a lot of MLSs cannot afford to buy Christmas presents or even send out Christmas cards? To think that you hold us in such contemp ...

To The LOST SUITS Or SLAVES
Sep 17, 2010

Regarding the English slang for Management being termed as a "SUIT." On a forum/bbs/chat board it is not uncommon to find shortened variations of words in slang terminology being used.  There seems to be 2 classifications of work force/individuals on this forum and one would NOT need a certification in education to realize them to be Production and Management classifications.   The general consensus of "Production Workers" seems to have been approp ...

A Round Of Applause For The Nuance Suits
Aug 17, 2013

Hundreds of jobs out of TAT this morning across the board.  Betcha the clients are getting a little bit cranky.  While you are holding your employees to unobtainable standards of perfection to perfect your VR so you can get rid of us and send the meager rest to India, you will have run this company into the ground first.  Don't the clients penalize you when reports are late?  Make sure you pass that loss on to us, the MTs.  Don't dare take respon ...

can be done. That is SO NOT true, and I hate to state the obvious, the elephant in OUR room here, that its likely management trolls.  The law firm listed below is fantastic.  And class actions work where 1 or 2 Plaintiffs step up and its converted to a class action for all employees. Why Don't Hospitals . . .
Aug 22, 2014

. . . and larger medical facilities hire disenfranchised MLS to dictate their doctors notes instead of sleep deprived nurses and residents who can't put 2 words together???  I'm not saying all RNs and residents dictate poorly, but in my experience a huge proportion leave a lot to be desired.   What with the doctor and nurse shortage, doesn't it make sense to utilize the MLS' command of medical language?   It would free up the nurses for nursing, the ...

Do You Think MTSOs/hospitals Keep An MT

I've been applying and applying for every in house MT job that comes along in my area.  I have the skills, I have the experience, and all that.  Even for jobs where I would have been a perfect fit, I'm always passed over.   Although I'm applying for in house, I realize that many of them also have outside vendors for overflow, or did in the past, and are transitioning back to in house.  For quite some time, I've had a suspicion that one bad-apple ...

Golden Opportunity For Hospitals Right Now!

As we all know, thanks to the way most MTSOs operate, there is currently a glut of experienced, talented, highly-qualified MTs who are looking for something better than just a chickenfeed job at a national.       Some hospitals have begun to question the quality of work they're getting back from the nationals (and the HIPAA compliance), since ever-increasing amounts of the work those nationals have is getting offshored.    & ...

The Hospitals I Work For Are Going Over To Nuance -
Apr 27, 2012

I've been an IC for almost ten years, and just found out that the hospitals I work for are going to be outsourced to Nuance.  It probably won't happen for a while - they're are still in the very beginnings of transition.  When it happens we will be given the option of staying on as employees of Nuance.   From the posts I've seen on the Main Board this scares me a little bit.  I guess I would like to get the inside scoop of whether I want to work for ...
