Sooo, was just wondering what exactly does a team lead do and how much do they make? I am fairly new to Transcend/Nuance, and my regional manager seems to always be the one directing things, emailing, calling you back if you have ??. I really don't have any idea what my team leader is doing other than sending account stats and I think she checks the time sheets for errors. Add to that the fact that I get emails from 3 different team leaders within my region with essentially the exact same account stats, and I am not sure what they do all day.

Also, I was complaining to a friend about the low pay now compared to where I was when I got outsourced to this service, and she suggested biding my time and trying for a team lead position because she was talking to someone who had been one and they "make tons of money." If so, I can't see what it is they are doing to be earning a big salary. Given what looks to be a redudancy with the position, in my region at least, I wonder if they could eliminate a couple of TLs and pay the rest of us better?!

A few months ago I was asked if I wanted a team lead position..I had talked to my team lead about it and basically you get a stipend of 700 a month and work 24 hours a day. My old team lead from my old account and my new team lead are constantly working day and night..you're TL doesn't sound like a very good one.

They only make 700 a month? That seems a bit low. I don't know if my TL is not good, maybe just our regional director is more hands on than most. she seems to do everything! Made me wonder if that was the case throughout. I have 3 TLs emailing twice a day with account stats, but the regional manager seems like the one who is always on/available for questions and emials, etc. Was just wondering what else the TL did since the regional manager seems to handle all the day to day interactions and AI.

TAT and managing their TLs. On top of that, must maintain production just as every other MLS does. The administrative duties take up 99% of the time though so the production is done in the other hours of the day. It's a 24/7 job.

As far as I know the team leads do not type. Some of them have never typed. They are to make sure things are in TAT and do the other administrative things they do, but they do not type or have to. I do not know of any team leads that type at any company. In the office setting, they did, but not at these companies.

They have their production quota, just like the rest of us. They do administrative duties, answer tons of emails, check time cards, do QA, etc etc. They get their regular production pay like you and I and then the "extra" for being a TL. Having discussed this with several, I concluded that it is not near enough pay for the responsibility involved. By my rough math, you get paid the equivalent of an extra 2 hours production a day, and likely put in much more extra time than that on average.

We don't have team leads on the Webmedx side of Nuance, at least as far as I know. We have team managers who handle several accounts and are responsible for keeping the account in TAT, approving time cards and PTO, communicating with clients to update specifics/deal with issues, etc. They do not usually type any reports. I had one manager a few years back who would get on and type in dire TAT situations, but my last manager had never been an MT and could not type reports (couldn't even write a coherent email to the team). I have no idea what our managers are paid, but I am sure it is not enough for the stress they have to deal with.

Can anyone else confirm this? I can't imagine anyone wanting to do that horrible job for that amount of money. My TL isn't as bad as some of the others, but I can tell she is under constant stress and pressure. No way it's for a measly $700/month.

I remember being told once that the 700 was on top of the pay for any lines they typed. Rumor was back then the TLs did a lot of cherry picking, picking up the ones with normals, etc. to get their lines in and still do their administrative duties.

Yes, that is correct, we do only get $700 a month stipend for the administrative duties, which are many. It ends up being next to nothing when you break is down. We do timecards, PTO, manage the TAT on all of our accounts, deal with emails from MLS, stat coverage several hours a day and then type on top of tha to make the production requirement. You seriously have to love it for one reason or another, which I do. I love my MLS and my accounts, but is does get very hard to make a paycheck and you do find yourself working long hours. It's not for everybody but can be a very rewarding position at times.

Hi there. As a former Webber, now with Nuance, we don't have TLs that I know of. So, your job description sounds like a supervisor position without the pay. What do our supervisors do...the ones that have TLs? Serious question..I'm not being a wise guy.

I think that Nuance should eliminate a lot of administrative/HR/TLs and the other BS that sucks up the money from the people that are really working. Same goes for almost all other corporations in this country. It is amazing to me that 2% of the people in this country make 90-some percent of the money. Get rid of those that have the do nothing jobs and pay the workers.

I would eliminate those MTs with attitudes like yours. Your numbers are skewed IMHO, but one thing is for sure, the FEW that work hard and shoulder more responsibility, should make more money than those who just put in their required time. Why don't you just take up a TL position and see what the other end of things looks like in reality? You could be the exceptional one, and work to improve things. But I"m betting you'd rather complain and stir up things.

I have worked in management FYI. But I have a life and do not intend to work 24/7. My attitude is reflective of many MTs who have been working at this for 25+ years and now accounts are being offshored, pay lowered, etc. And I am the exceptional one. Not trying to stir things up. Just want future MTs to be aware that this business is not what it used to be.

I also have the same attitude. This job royally sucks anymore and I just get my required time in and am done with it. The days of going above and beyond were gone for me when my pay was cut nearly in half by this company. If they want dedicated hard workers, they need to treat their employees much better--pay more and give us back our holidays.

Working overtime is not even worthwhile anymore. Don't get me started on the lack of paid holidays. Even a friend's adult daughter who is developmentally disabled and works part-time in a workshop has paid holidays and 10 PTO days a year.

Team leads do get a stipend of 700 per month and were, at one time, allowed to cherry pick to make their line count. My team leads were upfront about this and rarely did. In fact, they usually did the opposite, pulling the known horrible dictators and doing them instead. It is a 24/7 job, unless their manager allows them to job share amongst the other team leads. The best team leads are calm and can work under pressure. Being a team leader is the first step in management.

Doesn't matter to me. I do not work OT. Doesn't pay enough to give up my time with family. I'm certainly not going to help management make their perks while getting paid a crappy salary.

Thought I might give some insight into life or lack thereof of a TL. The region I work in has a few different TLs with staggered schedules all day and mostly all night. During the day 2 to 3 TLs work and the ROM (big boss) works because there is more email from the hospitals and things to do. At night it tapers down to one TL who may as well be an ROM because she has no one to back her up, and what she says is final. Anyway I digress. The TL gets $700 stipend, gets a higher line rate (about 1/2 cent more than a top MT) and has to produce 9000 lines or so per pay period. But doing the math 9000 lines + stipend is less than I make as an MT, so I went back to being an MT.

Does it really help anyone that there are 10 team leaders sending out the same workload emails over and over?  Do they even have a clue what accounts we are on?  I don't need a zillion emails all in a row telling me the same thing.  I get emails about accounts I'm not even on.  Isn't the point of a team leader to manage a team - the team they have?  I also don't appreciate getting sent little word games/puzzles and animal facts like I'm in 3 ...

Don't you just love how they try to motivate us to do a good job by emphasizing teamwork and how "important" each of us are as part of a team? Yet the pay is so low you can barely feed yourself or pay the rent? As a result, the team of employees are leaving in droves, at least as soon as they are able to. The TSM and QC person I've worked with forEVVVVER in the west is gone, both of them being moved up into new positions, and dividing their accounts and the entire team of MTs/MMEs has been disassembled and moved to other areas.  I am *terribly* sad about this because they were both absolutely amazing to work for, but I'm glad that I'll be staying in the Western region. We have a right to know who is auditing our work and essentially who holds our jobs in their hands.  We also have a right to be able to review our reports that have been audited.  I used to get the links for the reports that were audited, now I just get an email telling me how many mistakes I made, whether they were critical or minor and my score.  I want to be able to listen to the reports that were audited and that I supposedly made mistakes on to see if I agree with the audit t ...

Anyone know if we are still supposed to be calling the workflow team when there is no work available?  It's not listed under the work availability policy as something you need to do, and then when you call, you are put on hold and it states the hours are "4 p.m. to 9:30 a.m."  Is this Eastern Time, Central Time, Pacific Time???  Frustrating to say the least. ...

Just read the MQ Central news about the pilot program for a new position called Region Team Lead (RTL). I'm already confused enough, I don't need a new acronym.  They said the CTL would now be doing 100% QA and transcription. It didn't really specify who will be doing PTO requests, etc. (unless I overlooked it) I'm glad I already requested Christmas off and it was granted! Thanks CTL! I'll miss you! ...
