So now tech support people are Indian? - Kiki

Posted: Dec 07, 2012

Are they just slowly but surely going to have ALL employees from India?

In Oct, when others let go, most US techies let go also. No - surprise they want as much as possible OS. nm

Indian techs - cr

[ In Reply To ..]
The Indian techs and Indian employees in general seem to be dedicated and conscientious, but there is definitely a language barrier. I had a really sweet tech recently, but he was slower than molasses in January and seemed to have difficulty understanding me at times. I felt sorry for him because he was obviously feeling the heat of being new, but truthfully, it would have been easier to speak to an American.

It took 5 minutes to get my first name correctly. - Longer for my last name.

Then the Indian tech gives me a password and I have NO IDEA what the heck he is saying. Yes, language barrier to the max.

I cannot wait when I am finished with college. Anyway, I cannot get in to work.  IT tells me what to do and  tells me how I can change my password anytime.  WHICH BY THE WAY I CAN'T!!!!!  BECAUSE IT FRICKEN BLOCKS ME!!!!! Then he yells at me and cuts me down when I went back in to see if I could change my password and indian IT yells at me and states in his UGLY TONE (WHY ARE YOU GOING IN TO THE PASSWORD WHEN I, I, I, "ALREADY" CHANGED IT!) Tech Support And The MT
May 12, 2010

Ok I have a question for any of you who have been in the field for a while or even new to the field like myself. I have just finished training recently and I have been searching for a job and I was offered a contract postion at a decent little company(*Name withheld) which I am in the process of considering, however I am hearing that this company is thinking of not offering full time tech support and expecting me to install and configure my own software and if I have a problem with my install th ...

So I Was On The Phone With Tech Support...
Aug 10, 2012

and I mentioned that the ASR in DQS 7 is BAD, much worse than before. He said, "yes, I know - it's because the system has to relearn from scratch all the dictators, and it's going to be a while before it gets as "good" as it was before." He was just matter-of-factly telling me this. No skin off his nose (or his salary). My chaps my hide is that the MTs have to take a pay hit during all of this "relearning" time. And that is not even to mention all the other DQS 7 glitches....A ...

Tech Support International???
Nov 15, 2012

This might be old news, but I don't call tech support much. I called them a couple of days ago, and the automated voice told me it may be international. I am pretty sure the woman was from India. Last year, I used to only get local boys on the phone for that sort of thing. How long has this been going on? I wonder what sort of impact it had on our tech support guys. ...

How Do You Get Tech Support For IChart? - Sm
Jun 13, 2013

I have switched accounts and can't see my lines for the new account. Have asked my TSM about it several times, to no avail. Called tech support and they can't do anything without a ticket but person I spoke to couldn't tell me how to get a ticket....and round and round we go.  And we have been told not to use the line counts in Dictaphone EXText but to go by the one on iChart. Frustrating! ...

Call To Tech Support
Dec 16, 2014

I called tech support and was asked for my name and employee number.  I always start with the number, and then tell them my name because I know they already have it up on the screen.  Surprisingly, tech guy didn't sound foreign.   I give him my 6-digit employee number at a regular human speed.  He asks me to give it to him again, so I do, a little slower this time.  He then says, "Could you slow down a little."  Sure, I give it to him a 3rd time.  Ser ...

Companies With Accounts That Use ExText--and Have Decent Tech Support?
Feb 15, 2010

Does anyone have any recommendations on companies with accounts that use ExText--and have decent tech support?  Yeah, I know, I' asking for the moon.  But I've been sitting here screaming for hours now bc the techs and managers for the umpteenth time have left me dead in the water and don't care.  I'm taking out my umpteenth payday loan to get by and it's just not working for me anymore.  (I've also worked on NCH software.) Thanks.  ...

Tech People
Oct 11, 2014

Honestly, why is it that tech wants to make an MTs' life miserable. Just got a new thing to fill out and I cannot open it. I have never used Excel if that is what it is. My computer has no program for me to open it. At any rate, I wonder why these people have to make things so hard. This new computer, a Windows 7 (which I had to have to do my work) is so complicated now. You don't get these other programs like you did on the other computers. You have to buy Word, Excel ...

Vent At The Tech People!
Nov 01, 2010

Seriously?!!?  Mandatory update before I can log in.  So thanks for making me late for work because I had to upload the stupid thing twice plus restart my computer.   No notice, nothing.  Why in the world must the tech people make my job twice as hard as it should be!?  And MQ wonders why they have unhappy employees.  Is it so hard to A) get the stupid program First Time Right and B) have some sort of communication with the employees? ...

Got To Love The MQ Tech People
Mar 14, 2011

Apparently the MQ mail was down most of the weekend, thus preventing the RTLs from sending their messages of high backlogs or late reports (while I don't consider 30 reports a high backlog that is a vent for another email).  Tech knew the email was down and even posted a message on MQ Central, but apparently didn't let the RTLS or the CCMs know the MQ mail was down.  When the emails started coming through finally this morning message after message from the RTLs and the CCM, e ...

Can't Tech Support "equate" The Sound Volumes?
May 17, 2015

Do you think Tech Support could adjust the volumes so that the whispered jobs are amplified and the loud jobs are toned down, so there is like one set loudness?  I just had the one guy that you have to turn all the way up because he is across the room.  Of course I forgot at the end that I had the volume all the way up, so the next job literally blew me out of my chair.  I jump up about 4 inches every time this happens.  My heart is still pounding and my knees still shaking. ...

People Skills For Work-at-home People
Nov 01, 2010

I have been at home working full time for about a year.  I have been an MT longer, but I always had kept a job outside of the home also because I like interaction with other.  I have found that I am starting to lose my people skills.  Do others have this same problem?  It is like I have forgotten how to really be able to hold a conversation with others.  This is something that really bothers me as I have always loved customer service and working with people and main ...

Scrotal Support S/l Support "T"

Pay For The Indian MTs
Dec 01, 2011

There was a question about MTs pay in India. It is generally dependent on the line count and quality. Direct upload MT transcribing 800 lines per day - Rs. 1.2 (nearly 3 cents)  - 22 working days - Rs. 21,120 (around $600  per month) - greater than 98% accuracy (supposed to be) Only professionals like engineers, doctors, some software guys, etc. get more salary than this. Things are a little different in CBay (Medquist) India.  Irrespective of experience, the MT ...

Indian Vs US QA On ASR
Feb 05, 2012

I just saw a post from last month wondering about what the accuracy level is that Indian MTs have to maintain. On Editscript, expected accuracy is 99% and tolerated accuracy is 98.5%. If your job is marked by QA  as below 98% accuracy, you do not get paid for that job.  Critical/grave/major/minor errors are all assessed per job and factor into accuracy calculations. If you have more than 5 major errors per 2000 lines, you lose the right to work on an account.  Most Indian MTs prod ...

Indian MTs
Jul 03, 2012

Would someone please explain to me exactly why there are so many people in India that can to American transcription? How in the heck are they so proficient in the English language? Indian QCs
Sep 25, 2012

MMEs On Indian MTs
May 04, 2010

Are any other MMEs out there coming across Indian MTs who conveniently leave out portions of dictation, because they don't understand it?  I'm finding words or phrases left out that are completely clear, but a lot of the time is American slang.  Other times, it seems that they make up phrases to fit dictation they don't understand.  Anyone else? ...
