Possible use of new NJA policy? - Trampled underfoot

I know this isn't what they intend, but I'm wondering if we need to stick to our schedules anymore. If we can "make it up" in the same day, is it necessary to wait til our scheduled start time if we usually run out? I mean, why wait til our scheduled second shift hours if we're afraid of running out? Can't we get on earlier ("same day") and get whatever is available then? I'm not saying this is fair to those who are scheduled earlier, but there's nothing "fair" about MModal anymore. I think they want us fighting tooth and nail for every available bit of work.

You are correct. That is exactly what they want, pitting us against each other in order to get the work done within TAT to make THEM look good, no matter how it affects the lowly MT. This is true of all the MTSOs.

What is the sense of even having a schedule. Just work when you can. However, I still am going to work my schedule; If there are no hours, then so be it. How can they possibly think this is a fair/good policy? On top of it, just recently we were asked to work OT. Really?

NJA does not occur until your shift starts. I am PT, so I nab from the swap board as my backup. Unfortunately, this is a problem for FT because the swap board will not allow you to claim hours that might put you into overtime.

Although, currently, my TSM isn't even entering our scheduled hours like she is supposed to, so she isn't getting around to entering anything on the swap board. There was a meeting for the TSMs about how to use the swap board, so I am sure it is now "complicated".

Last email from our TSM regarding NJA was basically yelling at us to work our schedule and that there will always be work - insinuating that it is our fault if there was NJA. It was a ridiculous raging email. (North)

So you're saying an employee who starts at 7 a.m. has til midnight of that day to make up their hours (during someone else's shift), but the employee who starts at 5 p.m. only has from 5 p.m. to midnight to make up their hours?

That seems grossly unfair and I choose not to interpret it that way.

This new policy is HR gone mad! There are some things I actually like about it, but there is just as much confusion over the NJA policy as there was before and still apparently TSMs making it up as they go along. How is it possible, after over 10 years of the existence of this organization, when every POSSIBLE scheduling conundrum must have been encountered by now, that the suits seem incapable of fully thinking things through? Given we are NOT ALLOWED time off without pay anymore, I choose, without a shred of apology, to interpret that pre-emptive makeup time must be allowed. Like, for example, for people whose work weeks end on Saturday. I mean, I wouldn't go crazy and abuse it, but unless some degree of "pre-emptive" makeup time is allowed, the current policy is massively, massively unfair to the later shifts.

So help me understand this "new" policy. Are we taking a cut in what we accrue for PTO? I have over 15 years with this company and find it hard to believe longevity/loyalty do NOT count. So as I read it, the person that started yesterday will accrue at the same rate as me? I would love to know how people are handling this new NJA policy. As I understand it, if we get NJA during our work schedule, we are supposed to keep checking back for work through our shift. We are allowed to work at any time up until midnight to get in our hours for the day without approval. I really think if they have no work during your shift, they should pay your benefit rate for the hours there is no work. I know some states have this, but mine does not. A couple weeks ago someone on here mentioned that we do not have to use our PTO for NSA. She advised me to contact HR, which I did, who also told me the policy is we do NOT have to use our PTO for NSA. The conflict is, my SM sends out emails prior to time card approval stating we have to use PTO if we have it, or submit PTO for unpaid if we have no balance. I am curious to know if my SM just isnt aware of the policy, or if she just wants us to use our PTO so our hours will all be accounted for. ...

When we got the New Work Availiability Policy last week I replied and made a suggestion that they go back to the idea of a 12-hour shift within which to get your 8 hours. I pointed out that it would eliminate the work tickets and all the other administration and mumbo jumbo that goes on trying to get everyone's work hours in. As I read the new policy what has been eliminated is the option if you run out of work during your shift, to just call it quits for the day and take leave without pay. Instead, you have to keep checking back during your shift. However, if you still are short hours you have the option then to take leave without pay. I have a question about Transcend policy for which i would really like to get an accurate answer. I am currently working as a full time employee for them, which requires a minimum of 7 hours per day, in addition to the $900 gross pay per check. Transcend, in their employment info, states they only want 3% sent with blanks to QA after 90-day probation is over. What if you are changing accounts or have some really difficult docs? I have a question about the NJA policy. On the 15 minutes downtime you get for waiting for jobs, is this just once a day or as many times as you do it in a day. Has anyone ever contacted HR definitively about the NJA policy? Our new CCM is telling us we have to stay punched in for the "15 minute" wait, then punch out and fill out a Remedy ticket. If we get a job within that 15 minute period, the wait begins again. That would mean potentially we have to sit at our desk all day, only getting a job every 14 minutes!
