Transcend and blanks policy - me MT

Transcend, in their employment info, states they only want 3% sent with blanks to QA after 90-day probation is over. What if you are changing accounts or have some really difficult docs? Is this 3% set in stone? What do they do to you? I would think this is a negative impact on patient care, because the MT won't want to send in too many questions.

Hard to believe a company would actually do that if they cared about quality. Do they state this before you sign up to work? I actually left a job when they stopped providing QA help. I don't work for them but would question this policy.

Look, companies have to set some standards, parameters, goals. This is not hard and fast, at least not in my experience. I have had some reports look like buckshot flew threw, and no one said boo, in fact more likely, they would concur and QA would note on the report that it was a "difficult dictation." No one has EVER made an issue about how many blanks or what percentage. This company has been very reasonable and fair, they provide much support, sample reports, e/m, phone numbers and IM for those that wish to use it. Don't let that stop you here. Consider it a goal, nothing more.

I have been there for almost 3 months and some days I send quite a few to QA and other days not so much. But, if in doubt, send. I have a particularly difficult account with a few really bad ESL doctors that I just cannot understand with them mumbling or fading out, etc. Been doing this for 25 years and have done tons of ESL in the past. I am not going to guess on anything. I always write down any job number I send and check the next day to see if they have filled in those blanks; many times not!!! In my opinion quality over quantity day, as this is a document that can affect patient care.

I agree with the other posts..I actually have an account that even for 1 blank you have to send to QA..when I first started I worried about this because it really made my percentage high but my TL told me not to worry about it because it is hard with some of the docs to not have a blank and with the no blank policy you can't help it.

I am starting with Transcend soon and they sent some info, and there was a statement about blanks, they didn't want more than 3% because of the costs associated with QA. I have lots of experience, but I do know at times there is a point where you will have lots of blanks and quality of care is important.

I know this isn't what they intend, but I'm wondering if we need to stick to our schedules anymore. If we can "make it up" in the same day, is it necessary to wait til our scheduled start time if we usually run out? I mean, why wait til our scheduled second shift hours if we're afraid of running out? Can't we get on earlier ("same day") and get whatever is available then? So help me understand this "new" policy. Are we taking a cut in what we accrue for PTO? I have over 15 years with this company and find it hard to believe longevity/loyalty do NOT count. So as I read it, the person that started yesterday will accrue at the same rate as me? I would love to know how people are handling this new NJA policy. As I understand it, if we get NJA during our work schedule, we are supposed to keep checking back for work through our shift. We are allowed to work at any time up until midnight to get in our hours for the day without approval. A couple weeks ago someone on here mentioned that we do not have to use our PTO for NSA. She advised me to contact HR, which I did, who also told me the policy is we do NOT have to use our PTO for NSA. The conflict is, my SM sends out emails prior to time card approval stating we have to use PTO if we have it, or submit PTO for unpaid if we have no balance. When we got the New Work Availiability Policy last week I replied and made a suggestion that they go back to the idea of a 12-hour shift within which to get your 8 hours. I pointed out that it would eliminate the work tickets and all the other administration and mumbo jumbo that goes on trying to get everyone's work hours in. As I read the new policy what has been eliminated is the option if you run out of work during your shift, to just call it quits for the day and take leave without pay. Instead, you have to keep checking back during your shift. However, if you still are short hours you have the option then to take leave without pay. I have just had it. I was switched over to a horrid account, and every time I ask about being switched back, I am told to just keep on working. Utterly confused. I took a big, BIG hit with the QA deduction in paycheck this week. So, I decided to investigate. Like everyone else, I have about 10 "regular" accounts. No blank rule is mentioned anywhere on any of the Account Specifics. I wrote the QA person for my CMC questioning how many blanks were acceptable without sending to QA, and got the "first time right" explanation. This is BOGUS...if I have one blank on a lengthy report and hafta send to QA and they take the total line ...
