memo from CCM re: new downtime and NJA policy? - a1typist

Posted: Jan 05, 2011

Has anyone gotten this e-mail from CCM?  Have you been able to open it?  I got gibberish and was told to go instead to MQ Central, but that has not been updated in forever...wondering what new policy entails.

It is in MQ Central, HR, Policies - MT

I didn't get the email, but I went to MQ Central to look it up. From what I could tell, it looks like we get no downtime pay for our own personal computer failure or internet, phone or power outtages. Only get technical downtime pay if their server is down or if their company computer goes out. Maybe limits on the amount of time, don't know if that changed or not.

Also, from what I read, I think there are no more Qcare tickets (which I actually liked). We email support and our CCM with the NJA info like we used to do.

The downtime pay is also minimum wage unless you live in one of the special states where it is the benefit rate. I could be wrong, anyone know any more?

From what I can see on MQ Central, that info is years old. My CCM sent a memo saying they have updated it...just wondering if anything new and exciting!

Revised date 1/10 and reviewed date 1/11 - MT

It is confusing. Says revised date 1/19/10 and reviewed date 1/19/11. The changes I noted above seem different to me. When I had a problem with my personal computer, I got paid downtime. From what I can see, that is a thing of the past.

I got an attachment with an email from my CCM and was able to open it. It does appear that they are limiting downtime to problems with the system being down or issues with a Medquist computer and not the MT's home computer, but that has always been the case. If your computer or internet stops working, that is not their fault and they do not pay you for that. My suggestion would be order a company computer immediately and then the ball is in their court except when your IE provider is down, then you have to make the time up or take PTO I would assume.

I have just read 2 separate policies, one regarding downtime pay and the other (revised Jan., 2011). According to the downtime pay, we were to receive downtime pay for the 15 minutes we have to sit and wait for work, then ask for for the rest of the shift off. I run out of work and have for years, and have yet to received the 15-minute pay. It is supposed to be for our production pay. Has anyone ever received the 15-minute pay? Mine would add to a lot, for about 4 years.

Forgot something. I also said the regional manager will contact the CCM regards to more or less a lot of NJA and act on it. HA! They have never done anything about it.

If you are suppose to get downtime pay but havent for years, whose - fault is that? Go after what is yours. nm

Well, there are 2 different policies and I never had a reason to read the one about downtime before. I do not know why that particular clause is not included in the job availibility policy. It talks alot about MQ problems and I have only had about 2 instances where I could not work because of MQ system problems and I made the time up then, not knowing I could get paid for it.
I read all the policies and so - Be proactive

request and receive downtime pay including for NJA and have been getting paid according to this policy for years. I think it is our responsibility to keep informed about the policies and act on them when appropriate to get paid. If you don't read the policies, then it is your fault you don't get the pay offered.
if you want minimum wage for downtime then claim it - NJA Queen

I get NJA at least once a week or more, but I make more than minimum wage when I work so why would I want MQ to reimburse me at minimum wage? No thanks. I would rather take PTO (which again is above minimum wage) or make up the time during which again I earn more than minimum wage. I have never claimed my 15 minutes of downtime ever and if my CCM ever tried to put that on my timecard I would fight it. I am sure I have stirred the bees nest here, but I would never let MQ get away with paying me minimum wage when my time is worth more. There are some states where those MTs get paid their benefit rate for downtime and if I lived there then I probably would claim downtime, but unfortunately my state has a low minimum wage.
I was speaking about those who do not - Be proactive

read the policies and then complain about not getting what the policy offers. I agree about what you said if you live in a state where you get minimum wage and not benefit rate and can make the time up. I happen to be in a state where I get benefit rate and those 15 minute increments add up.

Some CCMs will not put in downtime unless you constantly remind them. Right now I happen to have a fantastic CCM who always makes sure we are paid when the system crashes, but other CCMs acted as if the downtime money was coming directly out of their own personal checking account and how dare I request to be paid for downtime. I totally agree with being proactive and knowing your rights and know what the policies state.
I read all the policies - kittykat

No, it is not my fault. I personally think if our CCM's were honest they would do it for us. If we were to go on medical leave or family leave, you can bet they would know that policy frontwards and backwards. I don't have time to read and absorb all those policies, and even if I did, I probably would not remember if it pertained to something 2 years down the line. Boy, some of you MT's just can't wait until someone posts something so you can get your little dings in.
read your post again- if the CCMs were honest (or knew their job) - NJA Queen

That is the problem right there. Not all CCMS know the policies either or care enough about the MTs to help out. My friend got fired because her CCM did not put in for FMLA as requested when she needed a medical leave. She got let go for job abandonment and the CCM denied my friend even asked for FMLA even though she had the emails and phone calls documented. Personally I didn't get all the bereavement pay I deserved because I didn't know enough to request for it and my CCM didn't offer it. I think all anyone is saying here on this board is YOU need to know what the policies state, don't rely on your CCM to remind you because half the time they either don't know or don't care.
Thank you - Be proactive

That is what I was trying to get across, we are pretty much on our own with some CCMs.

How To Get Downtime Pay You Have Coming To You
Oct 07, 2010

Okay people, if you were in the middle of your shift, or you could not sign on for your shift, make sure you filed a Q-care ticket and notified your CCM.  Mine has been sending E-mails throughout the day stating that she KNOWS that DQS is still down even though it shows a green light.  By Medquists own Policy description for downtime for ME/MTs, this definitely qualifies.  Go to MQ Central Home page---Human Resources---policies.  At the bottom of the page there is a link call ...

Did Anyone Get Downtime For Yesterday?

Just curious if MQ is going to try to ignore yesterday's DocQscribe crash.  My CCM is on vacation so I just put an alert on my timecard.  The RTL told me that it was not an alert and deleted my note.  So downtime or not?  I guess I will just be short this week because I am not making up hours or taking PTO when their stupid system crashes and MQ refuses to own up to it.  Thats what they get for having us all upgrade at the same time.  ...
