Major error for transcribing 83-yr-old instead - of 82-yr-old. Seriously?

This dictator was the WORST of the WORST too! I bet if I were ABLE to go back and listen I'd still hear 83 or at least not be able to tell the difference. AND ANYWAY....How in the h-e--- is getting the patient's age off by one lousy year (esp at that age--might be different if it were a child).....
So, but for that "major error" on the report I would have gotten 100%....no other errors. Instead I failed (psfssst!) and get under 99%. Really? I really need to just stop even checking FIESA AT ALL . Just do my best and collect my pittance until I find something else. I just get all riled up when I do. Can anyone tell me if anything comes of NOT checking your FIESA? Do they know if you do or don't? Do they do anything about it? I barely give a crap anymore anyway.
According to Nuance's scoring criteria, it's a major sm - QC

I personally wish to not score many things, just fix them, and concentrate on things like a completely wrong medication being transcribed or a true patient safety error. When I have tried to be lenient, I am charged with major errors. Nobody wins like this.

What I mean by charged with major error is if there is a major error (by their criteria) and I score as a minor, they change it to a major and charge ME with it. Thus the warnings I'm getting.
I worked overtime recently due to them begging so much and guess what? A major error charged to me because I scored a major as a minor. That's the last time I work overtime.

Yes, it is a major error. I'm sorry you got docked for that, but even with the worst of the worst dictators, that's the easiest thing in our job to catch and fix.
Age off by one year - should not be an error

I had a consultation where the dictator gave the age the patient was when she saw her and the consult was dictated a couple of days later - in the meantime the patient had a birthday - and I didn't catch the age discrepancy. I argued that the patient's age was, in fact, correct in the dictation - that it should not have been changed to the age the patient was when she went home - but I lost because I didn't flag it as a discrepancy - they gotcha comin' and goin'

It was reversed but I have also decided to blank the age if it is doesn't match the birthdate because I am not so sure the people entering the demographics know what they're doing. It's just easier for me to do that, at least with my accounts.
Not all accounts/platforms have DOB - The worst ones dont
[ In Reply To ..]I have 5 accounts I work on and 2 of them do not load DOB's into the system, so you can't check. Of course, both of those accounts have the worst dictators that you simply cannot understands whether they say 85 or 89. And one of them is a zero blank account!

I don't request reversals, ever, anymore, because they are just training new QCs, and it really tees me off to be judged by some of the idiots just passing through their new position. You can x out of that feedback box that pops up, by the way. Close it, get whatever constructive feedback you can from the reports that were QC'd by the new QC hires, run a second sort for post audits only, look at your quality score for the week and walk to the nearest coffee shop to meet with your friends.
Ain't anything to be gained by visiting any more often than that, ain't anything to be gained by paying attention to the silly scores on those QC documents, scores on those don't mean sh..., people. Get over that already! Only the quality score on the QA documents, the post audit quality score IS ALL THAT MATTERS!
It is only the number of documents you send to editors that matters. Ignore that totally meaningless crap QC score.

Thought I was going to make it through today with no Major error but no such luck. I typed "There are" and they heard "The" Trust me either way the sentence says the same thing and in no way changes the meaning of the sentence so I get dinged a major error for this. This just tops of my bad day. I get on to check previous reports from yesterday and see 1 correction on 1 report out of all of them. QA filled in my blank, and the error category is "major" with subcategory "not applicable." Platform is Cornerstone. Since when is it a major error to leave a blank for something we aren't sure about? After listening, again, I still can't tell if it is the word QA put in or the word I thought it "might" be; hence, the blank.& ...

Keep track of every job you send to QA with blanks or other. Compare job numbers to those jobs that come back with major errors. Want to bet that most of those jobs we have a hard time with are the very same jobs that we are getting marked down for? Most likely the very blank or the very problem we had is what the major error is for. ...

This is a new one to me and laughable honestly. I thought we were to spell phoenetically a doctor's name in the text if we cannot find it or verify it. So this is what I did as usual and got a MAJOR CRITICAL ERROR for putting the wrong doc name??? WTH. Seems like they are grasping at straws now. What's the deal? I work for a company whose initials are TTS. I was told that QA works on editing and transcribing too and QA has the ability to assign work to themselves. In other words not only do they take work away from the MT but they can choose which work/dictators they want to do. Isn't this a conflict of interest?
