A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
Interesting reading at family practice office this week, publication for Family Physician Practice, saying how software developers are working feverishly on new products for physician offices where they will choose their diagnoses and what-have-you from drop-down menu (yes, that will completely eliminate transcription).
Problems arising already with "trials", where docs weren't making "right" choices with their documentation. (They were not taking enough time with modifiers, etc.)
It's one thing to crack a whip over MTs who are more or less considered as expendable assets (two quit, we'll hire four more, they're a dime-a-dozen, anyone can do this work), but I feel certain that the Medical Deities won't stand for it. Article also stated that menu documentation does not make good clinic notes, much could be left out regarding patient care that was not covered/included in the drop-down choices.
I can just imagine a physician getting an Email from QA about how they are not following best practices, and to go weekly to their performetrics software to see how they are doing.
