Change the higher ups to production pay - about to give up

Posted: Oct 15, 2009

It is so so sad that some of our own bosses don't seem to care that we are suffering financially with this switch over.  All they say is "hang in there"..REALLY, oh yeah that's right you have no idea what we are going through because you still get your salary pay or even hourly pay....stop and try production pay for 1 month and then talk to me.  I'm done....outa here!

If the suits were put on "production pay" - Worker Bee

[ In Reply To ..]
they'd only come up with more and more "brilliant" ideas like QA submission rate, QASAR, the new time keeping system, etc. That's what they produce - ideas they never think through and, of course, they never take into consideration how it will affect us because they don't care!

I'm sorry you're so frustrated. We all feel your pain.

CTLs are getting hosed, too - anon, fed-up MQ MT

[ In Reply To ..]
They get ONE hour to do QA on the slop from India, horrible sound files, etc. It would take the normal, experienced MT/ME/QA (pick your title) 5 hours, so MQ will likely eventually fold like a cheap tent.

Like Savage says, "I leave vengeance to God..." I do, too

PRODUCTION PAY IS RIDICULOUS - CINDY

[ In Reply To ..]
PRODUCTION PAY IS NOT PAYING AN MT/EDITOR BASED ON THEIR "KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE". IT IS LIKE WORKING ON AN ASSEMBLY LINE!!! WITH PRODUCTION PAY YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE, AND MOST PEOPLE NEED TO HAVE A GUARANTEED AMOUNT OF INCOME. WHOSE IDEA IN THE MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION INDUSTRY WAS IT TO PAY ON PRODUCTION, AND HOW CAN THEY LEGALLY GET AWAY WITH IT? I THINK THESE COMPANIES PAY ON PRODUCTION BECAUSE THEY THINK IF THEY PAY HOURLY/SALARY THAT THEIR WORKERS WILL NOT PRODUCE!!!

I agree! Suits should be on production, too! sm - not saying

[ In Reply To ..]
I SO agree with this!

But don't bet the farm on it!

My family thinks I'm certifiable for having stayed here this long! They hire, fire, then re-hire, etc. What kind of crap is that?

No need to answer, as we ALL know that, suits and all!

So why do people stay? - RickyD

[ In Reply To ..]
I am honestly curious. Why do people stay at MQ when they are being treated so badly?
They still pay better than any other company. (nm) - Multi-MTSO MT

They get 250,000 to 350,000 AND - Sunshine

[ In Reply To ..]
do not forget their big, big bonuses. My last bonus was a 3.12. I think they get anywhere from 25,000 to 100,000 bonus? Anyway, as long as they keep getting their pay, they could careless about us. How many are on the board too? Like 12 getting grossly paid?

kind bummed about pay too - :(

[ In Reply To ..]
I make about 17,000 to 18,000 a year and have worked here 4 years. I started out with MQ after only having school and 3 months exp. so I was sooo happy to get the exp. That is better than working here at a gas station for 6 an hour, althoug gas stations elsewhere are paying pretty good now... lol. Anyway, a member of my family was a QTL and they changed her job title again and I forgot what they call her now, but she made over 41,000 last year! That is a huge bump in pay. I do all my 150 lines or more an hour, 40 hours a week and I get paid as above! So I just can't believe there is that much difference in pay! I guess there is money to be made here and we just gotta look! She does deserve that though with 19 years exp. So I am not hating on her lol. I am just flabbergasted that she literally makes 3 times more than I do!

bummed about pay too - worried

[ In Reply To ..]
and where does that family member work?
work for MQ? Actually I have 25+ years and working here for 4-5 and make less than you now. I have downgraded myself to 1/3 the pay of the past to work at home (mistake but too late)and I am dealing with it. But also flabbergasted. Does that family friend also work at home? just interesting,,,all the hoopla they feed you to make it look like a piece of cake and then get jello :)

yea she works here at home - :)

[ In Reply To ..]
and she does make that much! She is about 5 promotions aways from me so I figured it out like $5,000 per promotion. You must be on a really messed up accont. What tier are you? I think with higher tier come crappier jobs, not sure if I want to test up :(

Are Requirements Getting Higher
Aug 03, 2010

Seems to me, "one year acute care experience" was the basic requirement to sign on with an MTSO. Then it went to three years. Now, a lot of places require "five years' experience." Plus, QA has gotten unbelievably picky. I've always had top-notch quality and even been complimented personally by physicians at various local clinics. Recruiters call my test scores "excellent." And YET, wherever I start working, my QA looks like the homework of some dyslexic third-grader that comes back fr ...

Higher Productivity--same Pay
Jun 28, 2012

After AGAIN seeing more productivity and no increase in my pay, I sent my CCM an e-mail asking to explain it.  Will keep you all posted!  Maybe everyone should do the same, let them see how frustrated we all are.  Betcha M*Modal is the only one reaping any benefits from our increased productivity.  Bet the suits are getting major bonuses while we can barely keep our heads above water. ...

What Happened To The Higher-up.....?

What happened to SK?  I tried to CC him on an email that he needs to see and got a notice that the email was no longer valid.  Please tell me they didn't RIF him.  He probably would have fired me for the email anyway, but I'm tired of being told by my supervisor not to go above her head with complaints. ...

I Would Work Harder If...This Is For The Higher Ups
Jan 18, 2015

Let's see who reads this board. This is a challenge to the "bosses" to try and improve production and cut costs. I have worked in many jobs in my life from delivering papers at 12, to retail, to public service jobs, the one constant in ALL of them is..a happy employee is a productive employee. Business 101 says, if your employees produce more, you need less of them, and that cuts overhead. That being said I would be happy if: 1. You simply paid 15 or 20 minutes a day paid time to re ...

7 cpl job has BCBS about 53.00 per pp, dental 4.00 per pp. Employer pays for short term and long term disability, and they pay your life insurance at 2 times your pay. They offer about 28 paid PTO days per year, 8 holidays a year of which you have to work at least 2, profit sharing if company has increased profits for the year, plus 401K where they will deposit 3%, plus match 50 cents on the dollar up to 8%. They provide equipment. Very easy and transcription friendly software program, pay ...

Very Interesting, Another Reason My Counts Are Higher During The Day.
Jul 21, 2014

I normally work nights and get the worst dictators and horrid ASR. Of course, the worst dictators are usually the low man on the totem pole and get the worst coverage. At least, that is my experience from everywhere I have worked. Plus you get the sleepy doctors that can barely move their mouths in between yawns. I also only rarely get operative reports. On the few occasions I have needed to work a day shift, in addition to much better dictation, I get a lot of operative reports (I am tie ...

PRODUCTION PAY
Nov 02, 2009

I would like to know how MTSO's get away with paying MTs and MT editors not hourly, not salary, but solely on how much they produce like they are working on an "assembly line"!!!  Being paid on how much one produces is "pathetic" and is not paying MTs/Editors based on their "knowledge, skill, or experience", and I think is an injustice to the medical transcription profession as a whole. What happens also when an MT/editor works over 40 hours per week.  By federal ...

Production Req'ts
Sep 06, 2012

Does the company you work for have production requirements?  I've never worked with any, but we were just informed that some are coming and that the industry standard is 150+ lines/hr.  I could do 150/hr on a good day, but if there are not a lot of reports available, it would be very hard.  Just looking for others who work with production req'ts and how you cope.  Thanks for your feedback. ...

Well, I'm Under The Gun For My Production.
Sep 14, 2012

I'm at stage 2 now. I've got a conference call for my verbal warning next week. Problem is - I have been in the 'cesspool' for months now. One day I (and apparently everyone else in my group) suddenly had next to no more work from my primary accounts. The account has very apparently gone overseas. Every once in a while 1 report will show up, so I am sure MM has not lost that account. I can see a lone job show up every once in a while in DQM. Since then, I have had no ...

QC Going To Production?
Feb 21, 2015

Is there a date set yet for when QC will be on production? My thought is, if they are going to this and do MLS work as well when no QC available, Nuance probably has to figure out some fancy grid work to figure their pay on this as well. Nuance still hiring like crazy, offering sign on bonuses, recruiting off different web sites, and then some of us sit with OOW, at least on the US only accounts. The last few weeks it has been VERY regular that we run into OOW.  Not even offered to w ...

Why Does It Always End Up Being About Production? SM
Mar 08, 2015

I have never been a top producer, but I have always been consistent and have excellent quality.  All the MTSOs say they want quality but it seems to inevitably come down to producing that line count, no matter what variables come into play, bad dictators, just a bad day, lots of short reports, etc.  All they want is that 250-260 lines edited per day.  I realize there have to be standards and goals but it just seems that in the past copule of years, especially when I worked for Nua ...

Why Is It When You Are Having A Great Production Day,
Jun 07, 2010

the work seems to disappear? I was doing over 400 lph and now no work. This happens every time I have great lph. Can companies do a switch-a-rooney, keeping the work away from people or can the platform be 'fixed' that if you hit a certain lph, no work will download to you? I'm really curious about this. I've been watching this happen for a couple months now. ...

Impossible To Keep Up Production

I transcribe reports, do ASR reports and I also do MME work.   I find it impossible when I an constantly "switching gears" every day on 5-6 accounts to maintain a decent production.  How can anyone keep up with knowing all the CP's and keeping track of all the details of each account plus do the production we are supposed to do?  If someone has a suggestion, let me know.  We keep getting all these e-mails from QC regarding a complaint from a customer ...

Production Employees (not IC's): How Much
Jul 13, 2010

The compensation structure and "minimum" hourly or daily production expectations often encourage people in our industry to work unreported hours in order to meet minimums.  You have a day when you get a rash of the account's most trying dictators, for instance, and at the end of 8 hours you realize that you haven't met minimums...so you work another hour, while reporting only the 8 hours. Transcription companies are, of course, aware of this dirty little secret and do nothing abo ...

Low Production Due To IT Issues

I have had a terrible Mon/Tues this week due to the software in my computer being incompatible with the upgrade, or whatever happened with DEP shutdown not being resolved.  How can I get compensated, other than taking PTO.  Have ticket in, but do not know how to document slow production to CCM, as I kept working thinking it was my issue and not the software's, and submitted ticket hours later.  Am I the loser in production/pay?  It would be a gesture of good busines ...

Production Scrutiny
Dec 02, 2010

For the life of me I cannot figure out how they justify the manhours being spent to see if we are typing all 60 minutes of each hour without bathroom or snack breaks when we are not paid by the hour.  If we are not typing for 5 or 6 minutes here and there, we are not producing, thus not getting paid line rate.  It only hurts us so why do they even care?  Am I totally stupid?  It affects our benefit rate, still only hurting us.  The only benefit left for this company ...

What Are Your Production Tips?

I know that everyone says there is no money in VR, but sometimes you have to take the job you are given and be thankful for that. The account I am working on is 99% VR.  I was wondering if anyone had any tips on being productive.  For example, do you look at your report first and fix any obvious errors and then listen to the dictation or do you just jump right in with the dictation and do it all then?  Currently, I make about 5cpl for VR, which compared to some quotes I have rea ...
