Opinions please-- Would you accept a lower cpl over a higher - if the benefits are better
Posted: Nov 12, 2012
7 cpl job has BCBS about 53.00 per pp, dental 4.00 per pp. Employer pays for short term and long term disability, and they pay your life insurance at 2 times your pay. They offer about 28 paid PTO days per year, 8 holidays a year of which you have to work at least 2, profit sharing if company has increased profits for the year, plus 401K where they will deposit 3%, plus match 50 cents on the dollar up to 8%. They provide equipment. Very easy and transcription friendly software program, pay every other friday by direct deposit. Paid traiing for weeks at $12.00 per hour. They do offer incentive if it is achievable. No QA penalties. Other job 8 to 8.5 cpl, incentive over 1500 lines, you pay your own life insurance, short and longterm disability, BCBS about 150 per pp, vague PTO maybe 10 days a year no rollover, no 401K match. No paid training.

I would accept it in a heartbeat unless there is something that is not being said to you such as times to be in the office, etc. Benefits mean a lot today and with all that, you would be much better off than as a IC.
also make sure benes are paid even if you don't - anon

meet line quotas. A lot of places ask for like 1500 lines per day to get and keep the benes, but then make sure that you do not reach line quotas, so no benes. just make sure first.

because I work there. The benefits are good, and you get a lot of earned time, but it's reallly hard to get time off. You have to plan all of your vacations in January. Also, schedules are very strict. Good company, but there is also a lot of OT that is mandatory especially in the summertime. Not for everybody.
Beats running out of work all the time. No problem - planning my vacations January either

If I was going into the workplace, I would have to adhere to my schedule; same difference when working from home. Also, you're still there says something!!!
Oh, I like it enough. Just wanted to be up front - - Anon

Some people don't like not having flexibility. OT get old real fast AND I have run out of work many times.
Would you mind sharing the company name - Or even emailing it to me

Would love to get on someplace that has actual benefits. TIA.

Synernet - I don't know if they are stilll hiring right now, but they only hire for 2nd and 3rd shifts (1st shifts all taken and the chance of ever being changed to 1st shift is none). Also shift has to include one weekend day, mosr likely Saturday. If this is something that fits your lifestyle, go ahead and apply and see if they are still hiring. The testing is pretty easy. Work is all straight typing, no SR/VR.

I would love to work for them but they don't hire workers in my state, I think they're a good company.
They do hire in other states. They don't pay state - taxes in other states. you would have

I know they hire in other states but they don't hire in WA state. I applied and passed the testing and then was told in an e-mail that they are not licensed to hire employees from Washington. I don't know if it's tax issues, employment laws or what, but I was disappointed.
It has something to do with Worker's Compensation laws I believe - sm - Anon

Another state they do not hire from is North Dakota, I will have to check what the other ones are.

Bilateral Lower Extremity VS. Bilateral Lower Extremities Oct 18, 2012Hi all,
There is a discrepancy with the proper use of this - can anyone help? Some at my work are saying it should be bilateral lower extremities, whereas others think it is bilateral lower extremity since the "bilateral" implies that it's plural and hence no need to say "lower extremities." I've seen it both ways, but the more that I think about it the more I'm getting myself confused.
Any input would be greatly appreciated! ...

Are Requirements Getting Higher Aug 03, 2010Seems to me, "one year acute care experience" was the basic requirement to sign on with an MTSO. Then it went to three years. Now, a lot of places require "five years' experience." Plus, QA has gotten unbelievably picky. I've always had top-notch quality and even been complimented personally by physicians at various local clinics. Recruiters call my test scores "excellent." And YET, wherever I start working, my QA looks like the homework of some dyslexic third-grader that comes back fr ...
Higher Productivity--same Pay Jun 28, 2012After AGAIN seeing more productivity and no increase in my pay, I sent my CCM an e-mail asking to explain it. Will keep you all posted! Bet the suits are getting major bonuses while we can barely keep our heads above water. ...

Change The Higher Ups To Production Pay Oct 15, 2009It is so so sad that some of our own bosses don't seem to care that we are suffering financially with this switch over. I Would Work Harder If...This Is For The Higher Ups Jan 18, 2015Let's see who reads this board. This is a challenge to the "bosses" to try and improve production and cut costs. I have worked in many jobs in my life from delivering papers at 12, to retail, to public service jobs, the one constant in ALL of them is..a happy employee is a productive employee. Business 101 says, if your employees produce more, you need less of them, and that cuts overhead.
That being said I would be happy if:

Very Interesting, Another Reason My Counts Are Higher During The Day. Jul 21, 2014I normally work nights and get the worst dictators and horrid ASR. Of course, the worst dictators are usually the low man on the totem pole and get the worst coverage. At least, that is my experience from everywhere I have worked. Plus you get the sleepy doctors that can barely move their mouths in between yawns. I also only rarely get operative reports.
On the few occasions I have needed to work a day shift, in addition to much better dictation, I get a lot of operative reports (I am tie ...
VR Do Not Accept 3 Cents!!! People Dec 03, 2009MTs out there..do not accept a job for VR on 3 cents a line. These companies are trying to rake you over the coals! These are the companies that offered 7 cents a line for straight typing instead of 9 or 10. ...
Any Companies Out There That Accept Satellite 'net? Mar 23, 2010I'm in a rural area in the Midwest and currently have satellite Internet. Seems like all the services are requiring DSL, which isn't available here. I don't even know if wireless is an option. Anyone know of service(s) needing experienced (20+ years) MTs? Keep in mind, though, that I do want to be paid for the work. :o) I currently work as an IC and prefer no specified schedule so that I am able to work around my family members' m ...
I May Accept A Position With TransTech. Jun 23, 2012I've been offered a position with TransTech. Would anyone please give me their opinions of the company. I was told they charge $9 to use their equipment, but I will use my own computer but will have to use their foot pedal. Wouldn't it better to just buy my own foot pedal then I'd always have it instead of them charging every payday. I don't even know what they cost but will look into that. Also I'm concerned about the required line count.&n ...
Do Most Big Companies Accept Windows 7 Now, And Jul 06, 2013I'm job hunting after a couple of years off. When I left, many companies (including, I believe, Nuance and M-Modal) would not accept Windows 7, which is what I have. I hope that has changed. I don't want to downgrade to XP and I sure as h*ll don't want Windows 8. ...

So....don't Accept It! I Don't Work For Nuance But Dec 01, 2014I suppose I could any day now if they decide to acquisition my company, but I would refuse this kind of pay formula and would look for another job ASAP. If the en masse won't work for this minimum wage (sounds like), they will have to change it, but I suppose they could send it all to India. Wonder what the clients would say about that? They can only do what the industry will allow them to do in my opinion.

What Is The Lowest Line Rate You Are Willing To Accept As An IC? Sm Dec 15, 2009I just applied for a job, aced the test, and have 18+ years experience. I was offered .06 cpl to start, but will be "generously" bumped up to a whopping .07 cpl once I've proved myself. I have never, ever been offered anything lower than .08 cpl in my entire career. I did make 7.75 cpl one, but that was 15 years ago, working for the Q on a simple ER account with templates out the ying yang. I really feel insulted here. Good grief...

I REFUSE TO ACCEPT 7 TO 8 CPL WITH 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE-IT IS AN INSULT TO ME Aug 11, 2010I have been testing all week. Some companies will not even discuss pay until you take their tests. Then, I waste my time taking these tests only to be offered 7 and 8 cpl. It is absolutely offensive to me to offer me that low pay. You want all of my years of experience, but only want to pay "newbie" rates. I am completely and wholeheartedly giving up on this profession. ...

What gets me is that I asked 3 months ago for the dates Dec 30, 31 and Jan 1. MT Pay Going Lower And Lower. Jun 19, 2011I think it is very easy to see that with MT pay going lower and lower like 2.5 cpl that there will be very few MTs that stay in this business and who would even want to study to become an MT. Unbelievable to think that we can survive in an American economy on wages that are paid overseas which is exactly what is happening. It is impossible to do.&n ...
