I tiered up to tier 2 and she said my pay would put me back to close to where I was. What a joke. I went up 0.002 per line. how does that sound?

But if you just want to more work types (possibly more difficult) I'd do it. Being able to do all work types will only help you if and when MQ finally ditches all their American MTs and we all have to hopefully find work elsewhere. IMO

The day my account of 10-plus years "disappeared." I was given the option of testing for a higher tier. The Email stated it did not necessarily mean higher pay per line! HUH! I was already doing "the big 4" and anything else that loaded into my job bank, but was being classified as Tier 1, betting you can guess why. So I guess the only upside would be as someone stated, getting reclassified which may help in a job search later on, that is if the Q hasn't gobbled up everyone by then. As for me, the day after my account went away...... so did I - to another line of work where I'm appreciated and can pay my bills!!!

Okay..I started at tier 1 ten yrs ago. I made killer money and looked forward to working there each morning. I kept saying, "yes, bring it on" every time they offered to raise it a tier. Was a level 4 before bought by the Q. After the buy-out and the pay cuts, my pay was about 1/6 of what it was when I started as tier 1. I agree that it would be beneficial if you had the experience on acute care, but I am so glad I got out. Best of luck, and of course, this is just my opinion.
thanks for your replies. I am also worried that - if I go up a tier:

I will be put on a difficult account because of my tier level, not get more money, and end up making less than before.

If you tier up, you will possibly get a tiny CPL increase, but harder work and leaving more blanks that will likely eat up any profit.

I did OPs for 1 year, but when our pay was cut, I decided I would no longer train to tier up and dropped the OPs. I feel for those who tier up and get stuck on difficult OPs and lose even more pay.
takes forever to even be able to take the test - just saying

I have asked for over a year to tier up (currently a 2) and the CCM always has one excuse or another- first they need to audit, then the audit team is backed up and blah, blah you get it. My CCM did tell me that just passing the tier test would make me ELIGIBLE for a raise but not necessarily that I would GET a raise. I just gave up asking to tier up.

OPS, Tier II Vs. Tier III: Let Me Break This Down For You... Jan 28, 2010You can call yourself an MT and work for:
1. A single provider nonspecialist.
2. A multiprovider/multispeciality clinic.
3. A primary hospital.
4. A secondary hospital.
5. A TERTIARY hospital.
You can do "ops" with any of these jobs. However, at a tertiary hospital you will have patients who have failed treatment at primary and secondary hospitals. Tertiary hospitals are teaching and research institutions where you will encounter research p ...

Are Requirements Getting Higher Aug 03, 2010Seems to me, "one year acute care experience" was the basic requirement to sign on with an MTSO. Then it went to three years. Now, a lot of places require "five years' experience." Plus, QA has gotten unbelievably picky. I've always had top-notch quality and even been complimented personally by physicians at various local clinics. Recruiters call my test scores "excellent." And YET, wherever I start working, my QA looks like the homework of some dyslexic third-grader that comes back fr ...
Higher Productivity--same Pay Jun 28, 2012After AGAIN seeing more productivity and no increase in my pay, I sent my CCM an e-mail asking to explain it. Will keep you all posted! Bet the suits are getting major bonuses while we can barely keep our heads above water. ...

I Would Work Harder If...This Is For The Higher Ups Jan 18, 2015Let's see who reads this board. This is a challenge to the "bosses" to try and improve production and cut costs. I have worked in many jobs in my life from delivering papers at 12, to retail, to public service jobs, the one constant in ALL of them is..a happy employee is a productive employee. Business 101 says, if your employees produce more, you need less of them, and that cuts overhead.
That being said I would be happy if:

Very Interesting, Another Reason My Counts Are Higher During The Day. Jul 21, 2014I normally work nights and get the worst dictators and horrid ASR. Of course, the worst dictators are usually the low man on the totem pole and get the worst coverage. At least, that is my experience from everywhere I have worked. Plus you get the sleepy doctors that can barely move their mouths in between yawns. I also only rarely get operative reports.
On the few occasions I have needed to work a day shift, in addition to much better dictation, I get a lot of operative reports (I am tie ...

Tested And Got An Eye Opener Dec 04, 2012I tested last week and got such bad dictation I could not believe it. I tried to transcribe it as if I was getting paid the usual 8 CPL and realized it would take more time to complete it and I would be making zero money. Sloppy H&P with a heavy accent, whispering AND loud background noise; a coronary catheterization dictation that I commend an MT on even completing that I was supposed to edit.
I sent the test back anyway and got an email saying I didn't pass the minimum, whatever tha ...
