Second night in a row on third shift with hardly any work; do they really expect us to make up all these hours over the weekend? With the regular people who are already scheduled for the weekend and then the rest of us that need to make up line counts, how do we get this done?

I'm a p.m. shifter and the only way I've found to make sure I get my lines is to "bank" hours on weekdays, as it seems that every weekend, starting Friday evening, there is no work on my account from about mid shift Friday clear up until the following Monday. At first I thought perhaps they had overhired but the more I think about, the more I believe the work is being snatched up by the MTs who couldn't get their line count in during their regular shifts due to lack of work.

If I weren't "banking" hours during the week, for all intents and purposes, I'd technically be a part-time employee because there's only reliable work on 3 out of my 5 shifts per week.

Totally sucks, but it's the only way I've found to manage the situation after being VERY short on a couple of paychecks due to a lack of work for a total of 4 days every pay period.

The downside is, on the weekends when the work is slow to nonexistent, we're still expected to check in at least hourly during our shift in case any reports come through. Unfortunately, this means there are probably 2-4 or more MTs scrambling for any work that does pop up.

I'm hoping things pick up again for all of us really soon. I love TT, but it's physically and mentally exhausting to work at warp speed in order to produce 5 shifts worth of lines into just 3 shifts.

Hang in there...I'm sure TT is doing all they can to land us some more accounts and a steadier work flow!

I love TT also, but I have to bank hours also. I think working four 10-hour days is the only way to get lines. Working five 8-hour days hasn't worked for me to get my lines, since the last day of the week for me (Saturday) is also dry. I hate using up my PTO because of low/no work.

But if you use your PTO to give yourself a decent paycheck, you still don't get the lines required to qualify for the health insurance, so what are you supposed to do?

If they do find accts, concessions made to land it, - will be on the backs of the MTs. SM

It is the MTs how will have to deal with ridiculous TAT, take pay cuts so lower rate can be given to client, and MTs who end up going against OS, who can get the jobs because of low costs.

Everybody who is short on lines during the week gets on during the weekend, so we end up being short of work during our regular shift. We still have to check in every 15 minutes or so to see if anything has "popped up" so technically we are on call without being paid for it.

I used to run out of work all the time. In 2009, it was only once in a while. In fact, there was plenty of work but in 2010,the NJA became more common until I could bank on getting my lines only on Thursday and the weekends. It used to be great working there and it's sad to see how bad it is now.

It's going to be a very long weekend, sitting 24/7 trying to grab enough reports to make my lines, especially since it's the end of the pay period and EVERYBODY will be scrambling to get their lines in. I didn't have this problem until about 3 months ago and, since then, it's been touch-and-go workwise.

I would like to know how MTSO's get away with paying MTs and MT editors not hourly, not salary, but solely on how much they produce like they are working on an "assembly line"!!! Does the company you work for have production requirements? I've never worked with any, but we were just informed that some are coming and that the industry standard is 150+ lines/hr. I could do 150/hr on a good day, but if there are not a lot of reports available, it would be very hard. Just looking for others who work with production req'ts and how you cope. Is there a date set yet for when QC will be on production? My thought is, if they are going to this and do MLS work as well when no QC available, Nuance probably has to figure out some fancy grid work to figure their pay on this as well. I have never been a top producer, but I have always been consistent and have excellent quality. All the MTSOs say they want quality but it seems to inevitably come down to producing that line count, no matter what variables come into play, bad dictators, just a bad day, lots of short reports, etc. All they want is that 250-260 lines edited per day. Can companies do a switch-a-rooney, keeping the work away from people or can the platform be 'fixed' that if you hit a certain lph, no work will download to you? I'm really curious about this. I transcribe reports, do ASR reports and I also do MME work. I find it impossible when I an constantly "switching gears" every day on 5-6 accounts to maintain a decent production. For the life of me I cannot figure out how they justify the manhours being spent to see if we are typing all 60 minutes of each hour without bathroom or snack breaks when we are not paid by the hour. If we are not typing for 5 or 6 minutes here and there, we are not producing, thus not getting paid line rate. It only hurts us so why do they even care? Am I totally stupid? Just wondering, what is the quickest movement between phrases when moving around a document to place punctuation, skip markers, etc. Since none of us are in an office together where we can share this info, wondering if I am missing something. I was also told cutting and pasting may not be counted in production line. Anybody know this for sure? Okay, I need a refresher. I have to get to the bottom of what is happening to all our pay, except for those few out there. I'm guess keystrokes are only letters and punctuation. In other words, all the things we have to do to place a skip marker are free to MQ? Here's what I think is the reason for the production statistics and what I think is going to happen this summer. I believe that MM will say they are reducing ASR pay to 4 cpl across the board and that we can all increase production by following the recommendations in their emails. Very bummed out and disgusted. Started first day, software installation went perfect, but could not get trained properly on their proprietary system because of conference calls, multiple IMs, all kinds of rucus going on there. Now I am wondering, was I offered over 9cpl to start and SUPER flexible times/days to compensate for a clunky, antiquated system (have to populate the template headers, no pay for that)!! I'm curious if anyone is making minimum production with TTS, 125 LPH transcription and 250 LPH editing? If so, can you give any tips regarding what you cut out? Proofing, research, etc? How do you handle the long pauses in dictation? Anyone use the "Skip Silent" command? I can see 125 LPH for transcription but 250 for editing when you have to lose production with poor dictators? Thanks for any feedback! ...
