Break on awful dictators - mt

Posted: Jun 22, 2013

To bad we don't get a break with the awful dictators. When you get those your line count goes down, and you are dinged for that. Really sucks when your line count for the week is above the minimum but all there is to do in the que are the hard to hear....now line count is below minimum :(

That's when you log off, clock out, and go outside - for some fresh air.

You have to, to maintain your sanity. Hopefully by the time you get back, you'll get better dictations, but even if you don't, you will probably feel better.

yup... just leave it for the next MT to take care of - selfish

[ In Reply To ..]
Instead of suffering through like everyone else, you just sign off and pass the buck to the next MT. Unbelievable. How bout just throw in as many blanks as necessary, leave a QA note that says poor audio, or difficult dictator, and move on. Why just leave the junk for someone else? No wonder why I get all the junk. Someone like you who thinks they are too good to do the "hard work."

To "Yup" - Are you freaking kidding me?? Everyone needs - a break!!! Get off your high horse!

Enough said!
Really, u 6 "dislikes" don't take breaks. You truly - are superior to the rest of us. nm

That's not at all what I said. Good grief. - sm

I said take a break. I didn't say abandon the note, skip the note, cherry pick, etc. Read it again. I do my share of awful dictators just like anybody else, but I also have my professional integrity to protect, and let's face it, when you've been sitting here for an hour doing one crappy dictator after another, you need a break or you will turn out bad work, which obviously reflects upon you, of course creating a dangerous situation for the patient. When you come back from your break and have cleared your head, even if you still get bad dictators (like I did this morning for 3 straight hours), you're line count could potentially be better. Why is it that some people just want to twist people's words around, even though it's printed right in front of them in black and white, I will never understand. I'm trying to give the OP some support, and what you are doing is trying to start friction where it is clearly not called for. Pitiful.
I take breaks but - sm

I dont sign off, I dont sign out. I dont care..What makes me laugh is they say how low my inactive time is..Really? cause I take breaks all the time, put the dogs out, eat lunch, etc. But I will not leave the crap jobs for someone else to muttle through, I have it done to me and it rots..And you know what? I am RARELY if ever out of work..At some point if you force yourself to sit through the same cruddy doctors, they become understandable.
I've always been told that we HAVE to sign off... - sm

that you upload your job, clock out and log off - that's the procedure. I can understand why since we shouldn't go take our 30-minute lunch break, or whatever, and leave 2 notes just sitting on our desk when someone else could be transcribing them. In fact, my QC recently told me that our supervisor has okayed us to take mini breaks even, if we need to, 5 minutes or so, but that we are to make sure to log out of the system when we do this.
Im not logging out everytime I take a 5 min break - sm

and I eat at the computer while I transcribe..

You get all the junk, - because

[ In Reply To ..]
all there is is junk. I log off too if I see something coming up that is going to make me sick and frankly, I don't care if someone else gets it. I know I do plenty of my share of trash that someone else has thrown back onto the heap.

My gripe on awful dictators - is

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't mind doing my share, I really don't. But sometimes early in the morning, when you look on DQM, there sometimes will be 12 reports by great dictators getting ready to drop out of TAT and then #13 is a DS by Dr. Snotsuck-Applecrunch with hours to go before TAT. Guess which one comes up in my queue??? That's what really annoys me.

Awful Dictators Flock Together?
Sep 18, 2010

In a helper pool and doing a certain large chain of hospitals that is spread over many states.  Tell me, how is it possible that every dictator in this chain, whether it is on the west coast, east coast, or in between, are the worst I have ever encountered?  Does this chain advertise:  Can't speak English?  Inaudible?  Can't feel your tongue?  You're hired! What makes it worse is that the reports are all progress notes and take me forever for a tiny ...

Lousy Dictators - Crappy, Hard To Understand Dictators, Both ESL And English-speaking
May 17, 2014

Today I will make less than half of what I normally get because all I've gotten today are crappy, hard to understand dictators, both ESL and English-speaking.  Seems like all I get lately are the hard to understand, mush-mouth dictators.  Guess Nuance doesn't want their MTs making quota.  Sorry.  I just had to vent. ...

Just Awful
Jul 09, 2012

I have been an MT for many years.  I have worked for Nuance for 9 months.  I was hired to transcribe an account, then moved to another to edit, then moved to another.  I was recently switched from hourly (12.00 an hour, but found out they hired the next group after mine at 15.00 an hour) to production and there IS NO WORK.  I feel like I am stalking my supervisor via IM.  One of the other supervisors recently told me that the goal of Nuance is to eventually offshore all ...

Superior Global - The Pay Was Also Awful
Feb 25, 2010

I've been sending out resumes, and taking tests that must end up in cyberspace, even though I pass them, hear nothing.  Then I hear from Superior Global, passed the test, no problem.  The recruiter calls me, and her dictation is awful, and her command of the English language equally as poor.  I thanked her, and said I'd think about it.  However, that first impression left me less than luke warm.  The recruiter above all people in the company should excel in communication skills, a ...

ILP Work Is Frighteningly Awful
Jan 27, 2012

Okay, just finished a child abuse report/examination that was edited (ASR) by one of our wonderful ILPs.  This was a fill-in-the-blank only report and not a 100% review.  However, there was a glaring error that caught my eye, so I decided to do a full review.  I found 36!! errors, nearly half were definitely critical, and I'm not the type to get picky about commas and such.  At first I thought that they must have sent it by accident without editing it as it was really th ...

Horrible, Awful, AARGH!!
Apr 10, 2012

Here's a good one for the day. Stentel An Awful Company!!!
May 01, 2015

I just need to vent.  I have worked for this company for 7 years and can't believe how terrible they treat their ICs.  I thought they were a decent place to work but they have now shown otherwise.  I have worked under 3 other account managers and never had any problems.  Then, I get moved to my current manager and instead of getting paid more, I go from 0.07 cpl to 0.06 cpl, and this manager cannot be satisfied.  Oh, it doesn't matter if I do good quality work, ...

I Try To Stay Positive, But Every Time I Get One Of These Awful VR Reports Sm
Jun 08, 2014

I hate Synernet more and more. I know that I have to accept VR, but WHY do I have to be forced to use such a cruddy bunch of software. It doesn't learn anything. I have had to practically re-type the whole report and then get the "honor" of only being paid 4 cpl for it. If the higher ups were forced to endure this, I would bet some changes would be made fast, quick, and in a hurry. ...

USING THE BREAK FUNCTION
Nov 10, 2009

Have you ever used the break function simply because you had a dictator that was so horrible that you got frustrated and sent it back?  I know that we are not supposed to do this and that MQ supposedly keeps track of how many breaks we use but I have to admit I have done this no occasion.  I had a report so bad a couple of weeks ago which was over 1000 seconds long and an ESL doctor, not to mention scratchy sound, etc.  About halfway through this thing I had already spent nearly 2 ...

Are We No Longer Getting Break Pay?
Aug 17, 2012

I noticed today that the break pay section of the timesheet was gone today and when I clocked off a minute ago after working for 7 hours that in the "break" box, it said 0.00, when usually it would be 0.33.  Anyone know?  I know it's not a lot of money, but I usually get about 3 hours per pay period and about $30.  I would hate to lose that, cause every dollar counts. ...

Unpaid 30 Minute Break And...
Jul 22, 2013

I don't mind having an unpaid 30-minute break, but the thing that bothers me about some of these companies is the fact that it is tiring sitting at a computer for 8 hours and getting only a 30 minute break.  If I want two more 15 minute breaks those can be worked in, but then I have to add back 30 more minutes to my time! I like to at least stretch ever hour or so.  :/  ...

Registered Nurse Wants To Break Into MT Field
