If your an employee you are REQUIRED to take a lunch (clocked out). Each state is a little different on when the lunch has to be done (before 5 hours, etc.) If you clock out and keep working through your lunch, and your caught, you could be disciplined or terminated because the M*Modal would have to report it and risk fines.

What you have posted is incorrect. OP: Consult your state's labor board regulations for information on this subject. This information is online, on your state's website.

I don't even clock out for breaks.

I live in California and it was recently decided in court that we as grown up human beings get to decide if we want to take a lunch/breaks or not.

Your state may be different.

It depends on your state. - sm

My state used to have a mandatory 30-minute break for 8 hours, but now it's just highly recommended. Check your state's labor laws online.

This link might help--State requirements - not all are listed?

I very rarely take a break. I make up sandwiches and snacks beforehand, and then grab and go, eating at my desk. I could last any longer than I do at this job.

what are breaks? - no name

you clock in and work. when you aren't working, you clock out. but they make you work a schedule and you have a line count per hour to maintain, so i wouldn't be clocking out for more than a minute here or there. i never clock out. i run to the bathroom and/or kitchen for a snack and get right back to it. god forbid i'd have to be here longer than my appointed hours.

To Dictating Nurse Eating Lunch
Dec 21, 2014

That was such a clever idea to multitask and eat your lunch while dictating, killing two birds with one stone, as they say.  It's so cute and funny hearing muffled words through your chomps and swallows.  I wish I could return the gesture and make your day more pleasant too.  Merry Christmas. ...

USING THE BREAK FUNCTION
Nov 10, 2009

Have you ever used the break function simply because you had a dictator that was so horrible that you got frustrated and sent it back?  I know that we are not supposed to do this and that MQ supposedly keeps track of how many breaks we use but I have to admit I have done this no occasion.  I had a report so bad a couple of weeks ago which was over 1000 seconds long and an ESL doctor, not to mention scratchy sound, etc.  About halfway through this thing I had already spent nearly 2 ...

Are We No Longer Getting Break Pay?
Aug 17, 2012

I noticed today that the break pay section of the timesheet was gone today and when I clocked off a minute ago after working for 7 hours that in the "break" box, it said 0.00, when usually it would be 0.33.  Anyone know?  I know it's not a lot of money, but I usually get about 3 hours per pay period and about $30.  I would hate to lose that, cause every dollar counts. ...

Unpaid 30 Minute Break And...
Jul 22, 2013

I don't mind having an unpaid 30-minute break, but the thing that bothers me about some of these companies is the fact that it is tiring sitting at a computer for 8 hours and getting only a 30 minute break.  If I want two more 15 minute breaks those can be worked in, but then I have to add back 30 more minutes to my time! I like to at least stretch ever hour or so.  :/  ...

Registered Nurse Wants To Break Into MT Field

Aug 12, 2010

I've got almost the exact same word question as someone below, not sure if we're from the same company or if this is just a wild coincidence, but I thought I'd try again for responses.   This is in a cholecystectomy:   The gallbladder was then removed from the bed of the liver and placed into an EndoCatch bag and retrieved through the subxiphoid incision. This had to be enlarged somewhat due to the large nature of the stones. The <__(s/l bronto)_____> was ...
