anyone have info on Transportal? - powderpuff

Posted: Jan 03, 2010

Does anyone have info on this company; i.e. communication, mentors, line pay, etc.  Greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.  Anyone working for them presently?

Communication- Good but also supervisor dependent

Mentor- ? AFAIK, you are expected to be an experienced MT when they hire you.

Line pay- Industry competitive

Pay always on time. Work flow suffers from the same as most places as well. You either have too much or too little.

I recommend them.

I trained with them but their platform leaves a lot to be desired, so i left. It is called Scribe.

Called it quits after training. On just logging onto Scribe for the first report, I found out my comp would not download files properly (brand new Vista..just got within the last 5 months) and that the software had to be "tweaked" for use with my computer.

Among other things, I realized it would take me a lot longer to make the required 1200 lines per day as on my alternate job. I'm a seasoned transcriptionist and I know right away when a platform is not gonna be lucrative for me. Demographics seemed to be a big headache to deal with as well.

However, this might be a good opportunity for someone out there. Just wasn't right for me.

TransPortal Line Counts - anon

Worked for them for about a month... Their platform, Scribe, was unreliable. It has a lot of glitches in it, which I could work around, but their was one factor of it that I could not abide by. It allows other MTs to get into jobs you have already typed. I constantly had questions about my line counts. I kept a daily record of how many files I typed, and this never came out right. I understood that some files were waiting on QA to finish with them, but the next day was always a different story. Sometimes they showed up and sometimes they didn't. I figured it out when my AM asked me to properly close out a report I didn't finish because another MT was having to finish it for me and would get credit. I found the file and let my AM know I had completed it and closed it properly. There was no reason the other MT should have been in it. I then realized why my line counts weren't always adding up properly. Other MTs were being "credited" for my lines through their dishonesty! TransPortal needs to find a platform which will prevent this. If not for this, I would consider them a good company to work for.

However, I always seemed to get the runaround from my AM when I asked about my line counts and number of reports not adding up right.

That's my experience with them.

I was going to just let these posts go without response, but I think to be fair, I want to respond.

Line counts- You have the way that works all backwards. If you don't complete a report or don't close it out and another MT has to get into the report, then YOU get credit for any lines THEY type. The report is credited to the person who opened it, not the person who closes it.

I've been with this company for 2 years and have verified line counts every which way to Sunday and they are ALWAYS higher than any other line count program (sometimes by only a few lines but consistently higher). I rarely send jobs to QA so it's easier for me to verify, but honestly, what do you think they would gain from NOT giving you your lines? The whole point is to keep the MTs productive and accounts in TAT. They surely aren't in the business of singling you out and saying "hey let's rip her off." That's just ridiculous.

Scribe is not a perfect platform but it's not that big of a deal. Build up your Auto Correct in Word and there's very little you have to do in Scribe other than type and get out. How much more simple a program would someone want to have?

Demographics on most accounts consist of a few keystrokes, again, much simpler than many other programs (and yes, I've worked on many other programs).

I realize you are sharing your experience and that your experience was not a good one, I respect that. But the reality is, I can give you a report on just about every company out there and Transportal is one of the better companies.

Agree with you - PennMT

I totally agree with you. I have been with TransPortal since October and have loved every minute of it! My lines counts are always consistent and I've been reaching 1200 since Day Three (only spent 2 days on QA). Scribe had to be tweaked on my comp too due to Vista but it was no big deal. I love Scribe and have had no problems with it. I've had no problems with other MTs in my files either when I close them properly. MTs can only get in your typed files to edit them if you didn't close it out.

I do not agree with anything the previous MT wrote about TransPortal and would definitely recommend them to any up and coming or seasoned MT.

TransPortal --- RUN!!
Mar 29, 2011

Just got hired with them... and I'm on my last day of the first pay period... and let me tell you!!!   If you get an offer... RUN!! It sounds good, but is far from it!  Their sound files are horrible, they don't pay you any kind of training pay ( which I mistakenly MISSED on my part!! oops.. won't make that mistake again), and only give you LIMITED WORK while on QA review which amounts to like 200-300 lines a day!, and.... they have no account specifics whatsoever f ...

Now I see they have another job posting for the same job. What's up? Is it hard to get a job with them. Seriously, orthopedics is my thing and I am well experienced at it. I applied again just in case. Any infro anyone can give on getting a job there? Are they just hard to get a job with? ...

What's Up With TransPortal (IC) ???
Jan 03, 2015

pay 8 cents a line?  This is awfully low for an IC position isn't it?  I mean, when you are IC don't you have to pay your own taxes and have no benefits at all?  So in essence it's a lot less than 8 cents.  Are they out of the their minds or is this how long IC jobs are paying now?  Around 10 years ago when I considered an IC job it paid 13-15 cents a line to offset.  ???? ...

i had a job interview with Transportal's recruiter this past week and one of the things she mentioned is the fact that they will require ICs to purchase Errors and Omissions insurance.  She said that  by February 2010 the government would be requiring all IC medical transcriptionists to have this coverage.  Have they told their current employees/ICs about this and, if so, does anyone have any idea what it costs?  It sounds like a good company and the job offer is definit ...
