I was looking into Transportal? I was wondering if you can do over the 1200 minimum lines required each day or if they don't like it when you go over your minimum? Does anyone love working for Transportal? Thanks

I have a contract with TransPortal that stipulates that 1200 lines per day is the minimum to keep a full-time status. I have worked there for a few years now and nearly always do about 2,000 lines per day. Great dictators. I am on a full-transcription account (no editing). Rarely run out of work. Pay is always on time and accurate.

The more you transcribe, the more compensation you make and the more profit they make. It wouldn't really make sense to limit you to 1200 lpd. At 1200 lpd, you're not making a great income anyway. Don't plan to stop at 1200 lines.

on what account you're on. On the ortho account, there's usually work and you can get a lot of lines. Except for when it's current, then you're told not to go over your 1200 lines.

If you're on some of the other accounts, the work is incredibly micromanaged (actually so is the big ortho account and that manager is maddening IMO). But some of the other accounts are feast or famine and getting 1200 lines is a chore, let alone trying to get MORE than that.

Instead of constantly complaining about things you obviously don't know a thing about, like how accounts are managed, if you are unhappy at TransPortal, why don't you just go elsewhere? Your supervisor most likely finds you maddening as well so doubt they would miss you IMO. I've been with TP for 2 years and have had a great experience. Nothing is perfect, but the pay is on time and there's plenty of work with the exception of the occasion slow down around holidays which is to be expected.

I don't know how accounts are managed. Believe me, I know. I also know the ones who belittle and berate and who think because they are martyrs so should their MTs be.

I also know ones that assign work to their favorite MTs and know that work is held from others.

You know nothing about me. I do my work, a significant amount of work btw, and I get paid. That's all I expect from a company these days. But I know a lot of the MTs aren't happy and I know moving one of the managers up was a BAD move for the company. I also know the manager on the big ortho account should NOT be a manager.

I never said I was miserable. I said the company is shoddily run. If you read what I wrote, I tell you I'm a high producer and I get paid. That's why in I'm this field. To work and get paid. I try to have as little contact with the management as I can because frankly I think they are the ones who should find a new gig. Me? I create my own happiness even amidst the chaos :)

Again do you really think this is the appropriate forum to address any beefs you have with supervisors or a company? Have you made any suggestions to help the company run more smoothly? I would rather spend my time and effort trying to match GeorgiaMT's productivity of 2000 lines per day or your self-professed high production rather than spend my time slamming fellow coworkers or the company I work for.

Actually I'm not really airing anything am I? The OP asked was it possible to do more than 1200 lines a day. The reality is that totally depends on who your acct manager is. On some accounts you can w/o a problem (I do it.) On others, it's just not, no matter how much you want to because the mgmt sucks.

If I were airing beefs, I'd be citing my own personal issues. But I just stick with the facts as I know them and my own private issues stay that way. Other than, of course, just voicing my opinion on the managers, which as far as I know, is what this particular forum is used for 99.9% of the time?

I disagree because you are most definitely airing out the obvious beefs you have with your account manager. Have you talked to the account manager and shared your feelings or are you hiding behind your computer to air your complaints?

Yes, I've approached her many times. I'm not airing a thing here. Just stating my facts as I know them, based on my own personal experience. I've approached my acct mgr, I've approached the recruiting person, the manager that they promoted and I think started things downhill. Yes, tried that route. End of the day, let them be idiots. I like that I get on, I work, I shut down and go about my day. Pay check is always on time.

I've been at this gig a long long time. I didn't not recommend the company. They pay on time. I always (mostly always) have work. Unfortunately, my manager sends out group emails so I get to listen to her style of managing whether I want to or not.

Again, I was addressing the OP who asked could she get lines. I get lines. I'm on the ortho account. I know other MTs not on the ortho account who do not get their lines or who are told they cannot work more and are often forced to work less. Same manager.

At this point in my career, I want to type and get paid. I don't have to like who I work for (which is a good thing since I don't). I have to like the work I do (which I do) and the account I'm on (which I do) and be able to take pride in myself (which I also do). There's the logic.

You are definitely a different breed of person to have it not matter that you don't like your employer when you could probably find one that you do like. I am not on that account, but perhaps the MTs that have their lines throttled back are not able to transcribe for all providers or have/had quality issues.

My response to "moving on" was not related to "moving on" this board but moving on from a company that she claims is shoddily run. Would you want to stay employed by an MTSO where you did not like your supervisors or management? That was my point.

You are so right. Life is way too short to be so angry and hate filled toward the company you work for. Not all jobs are a good fit. We have all moved on from companies that were not right for us. Instead of slamming people, look for something that suits you better. These sites are for exchanging information, not exchanging hate filled bashings. Obviously the owners have no problems with the managers so nothing will change. Do yourself a favor and find a company whose style of management you like.

I haved work ortho for TransPortal for 1 to 2 years and have not had the same negative experiences as Transportal MT. I am not even going to dignify her/his remarks with any more of a response.

Just to clarify I side with GeorgiaMT and swimmom0626. Again, I do not have the negative feelings towards TransPortal that others obviously do.

Why don't you leave? Who are you all, the MT police? Jobs here are our livelihood and if it were not for those who stand up for things and open their mouths, nothing is corrected for the workforce. Someones concern and fight benefits you who do nothing to correct the injustices, especially in this field. You have been there 2 years...well I hope it is till death you do part and a happy employment forever.

Just got hired with them... and I'm on my last day of the first pay period... and let me tell you!!! If you get an offer... RUN!! It sounds good, but is far from it! Their sound files are horrible, they don't pay you any kind of training pay ( which I mistakenly MISSED on my part!! oops.. won't make that mistake again), and only give you LIMITED WORK while on QA review which amounts to like 200-300 lines a day!, and.... they have no account specifics whatsoever f ...

pay 8 cents a line? This is awfully low for an IC position isn't it? I mean, when you are IC don't you have to pay your own taxes and have no benefits at all? So in essence it's a lot less than 8 cents. Are they out of the their minds or is this how long IC jobs are paying now? Around 10 years ago when I considered an IC job it paid 13-15 cents a line to offset. ???? ...

i had a job interview with Transportal's recruiter this past week and one of the things she mentioned is the fact that they will require ICs to purchase Errors and Omissions insurance. She said that by February 2010 the government would be requiring all IC medical transcriptionists to have this coverage. I work for Transportal and recently one of my accounts went from drowning us with work to NOTHING. I haven't had any work now for over a week.
