Transportal IC - ILMT

Is anyone IC status at Transportal? Do you have a HIPPA policy in place? What is everyone's experience with IC versus employee status with Transportal?
Thanks

I think HIPAA privacy policies are standard and required by all companies now. I am an employee, but still work a flexible schedule as long as I get my lines in. From some of the emails that I have seen, it appears that they often hold the employees to specific schedules as well as production but the ICs are just required to meet their minimum daily production on the days they work. If they do not, some stern team emails fly (probably justifiably so, although sometimes it might be best addressed to each individual).

Okay. So do you have a HIPPA policy? How can I go about getting one? And do you like your job at Transportal and feel it is secure?

For working with TransPortal, the HIPAA policy was part of the agreement I signed with them. Not sure about an IC, but I would assume the same. Also had to watch the online HIPAA training and pass the test (note that it is HIPAA and not HIPPA). I have been there about two years and I personally like it better than other services I have worked for. Pay is decent, plenty of work, supportive staff when you need them, and always paid on time. Not perfect but a good place to work.

Ok so it will be with the contract that is signed with them. I thought we had to come up with our own HIPAA agreement. I have taken HIPAA training before.
Thanks GeorgiaMT
IC/HIPAA - I am an IC currently

I am an IC currently. I started not too long ago. You will have to watch a video and then take a test. Also, the tech will do a HIPAA check of your computer. They go into your computer and check that you have current security system. They will also go into your programs and check them. Only takes 5-10 minutes. Was no problem. Hope this helps.

As an IC you are required to provide them with your "security" documents including security officer, blah blah blah.
They give you a template as to what they are looking for, you tweak it, give it back with your personalized info on it.

I don't work at Transportal but have been an IC for several MTSOs and have never submitted my own documents. I have always just agreed to abide by their HIPAA policies.
and that means what to this thread? - x-Transportal

At TP if you are an IC you have to submit your own documents.
TECHNICALLY and LEGALLY, as an IC you should be giving your CLIENT (the MTSO) YOUR contract and YOUR HIPAA, confidentiality policies, etc.
So perhaps you're a misclassified employee posing as an IC, that sounds more like it.
I was looking into Transportal? I was wondering if you can do over the 1200 minimum lines required each day or if they don't like it when you go over your minimum? Does anyone love working for Transportal?
Thanks ...
Just got hired with them... and I'm on my last day of the first pay period... and let me tell you!!! If you get an offer... RUN!! It sounds good, but is far from it! Their sound files are horrible, they don't pay you any kind of training pay ( which I mistakenly MISSED on my part!! oops.. won't make that mistake again), and only give you LIMITED WORK while on QA review which amounts to like 200-300 lines a day!, and.... they have no account specifics whatsoever f ...
Was the recent account lost, their ortho account? I was thinking of applying but don't want to waste me time if they don't have their big ortho anymore. ...
I am very good in orthopedics, have done quite a bit in my many years of transcription, did well on the tests as far as I could tell, but got an email that I didn't qualify. Now I see they have another job posting for the same job. What's up? Is it hard to get a job with them. Seriously, orthopedics is my thing and I am well experienced at it. I applied again just in case. Any infro anyone can give on getting a job there? Are they just hard to get a job with? ...
With the new IC agreement due this week has anyone decided to write more than 8 cents on page 4 of the agreement on #1 under the Compensation heading? Do any ICs make more than 8 cents at TransPortal? I am thrilled with the flexibility of TransPortal. However, it would obviously be nice to have a raise. ...
They have been hiring quite a bit lately. Really considering applying there. Does anyone work for them or have any recent information on them; a lot of the archives are pretty old.
Thanks in advance! Be blessed! ...
pay 8 cents a line? This is awfully low for an IC position isn't it? I mean, when you are IC don't you have to pay your own taxes and have no benefits at all? So in essence it's a lot less than 8 cents. Are they out of the their minds or is this how long IC jobs are paying now? Around 10 years ago when I considered an IC job it paid 13-15 cents a line to offset. ???? ...
Just wondering if anybody had any current information about working as a Transportal QA specialist, how the experience was or is, good or bad, etc.
Thanks! ...
Does anyone have information regarding this company, i.e., platform, flexibility in working time (no schedule?), anything you care to add, good or bad would be appreciated. Thanks. ...
i had a job interview with Transportal's recruiter this past week and one of the things she mentioned is the fact that they will require ICs to purchase Errors and Omissions insurance. She said that by February 2010 the government would be requiring all IC medical transcriptionists to have this coverage. Have they told their current employees/ICs about this and, if so, does anyone have any idea what it costs? It sounds like a good company and the job offer is definit ...
Does anyone have info on this company; i.e. communication, mentors, line pay, etc. Greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Anyone working for them presently? ...
I know places like Transcription Doctors, etc, work for the bigger companies like Superior Global and then pay the MT less. Does Transportal have their own accounts or are they hired by other companies. Anyone know?
Thanks ...
I work for Transportal and recently one of my accounts went from drowning us with work to NOTHING. I haven't had any work now for over a week. My last 2 paychecks were just over $1000 each and now this paycheck will be just over $200!! I've asked supervisors/team lead about this multiple times and they claim to know nothing about it. Just wondering if anyone working for Transportal had any info?? Thanks! ...
I got an email from Transportal for the MT test. I just got a job this week that I love so far. Anyone know what the pay is there? The job I got is much much less stress than the company jobs. There is no way I want to leave this one for that one. ...
