Does anyone know if these 2 companies are connected to each other? Both are in Charlotte, North Carolina.

They were both co-founded by the same person - Interesting

Good eye. Yes, it appears that they were and probably still are affiliated.

According to the Transportal Website (Under “Meet the Management Team):

“Prior to co-founding TransPortal, Chris previously was a founder of Archivus, LLC.”

According to the State of North Carolina, Secretary of State’s Office, when they file their Annual Report for their Limited Liability Company Information, Chris is listed on BOTH as the “Registered Agent” and also “Officer/Manager.”

Whether they work independently or share information (such as if you quit one, you will probably not be hired by the other) is anyone’s guess, but they definitely have a connection.

There is a huge connection, actually. Chris S. was one of the founding people of Archivus. Months before Archivus was sold/merged with an Indian outsourcing company (etransmedia), Chris, and current Archivus MT supervisor, D., started Transportal with some other parties. The other owner of Archivus went his own way I think, into the sunset after the buyout.

I'm pretty sure they DO NOT share anything with each other. Other than Chris S. likely getting a % of income from Archivus for some years, there isn't much of a connection. There is actually quite a lot of bad blood between the two staffs/owners which I'd guess led to the "split" in the first place.

In terms of working for them, Archivus isn't BAD, but it has definitely went down quite a bit since Chris/D left. Don't be surprised if your account dries up since they hire a ton of MT's to fill a backlog and when it's caught up, you're left fighting for scraps. I'm sure it's not like this on all accounts though. Sometimes I wondered if the supervisors/company started looking at things like Etrans/Indian companies and not caring about the MTs. One of the supervisors is pretty bad though, slow to reply to e-mails and questions about formatting and things like that, but the others seemed OK.

For Transportal, not really sure, I do know that Chris/D were pretty fair and knowledgeable while at Archivus.

Transportal is the same way - overstaffed

They overstaff also and you are left fighting for scraps. Then you get dinged for not meeting line count requirements.

There is a lot of bad blood between the 2 companies.

Does this company hire and then after a quarterly review have QA pick your work apart and then tell you they can either terminate your contract or cut your pay. Understand this has happened to more than one person. Has anyone experienced this. Just got hired with them... and I'm on my last day of the first pay period... and let me tell you!!! If you get an offer... RUN!! It sounds good, but is far from it! Their sound files are horrible, they don't pay you any kind of training pay ( which I mistakenly MISSED on my part!! oops.. won't make that mistake again), and only give you LIMITED WORK while on QA review which amounts to like 200-300 lines a day!, and.... they have no account specifics whatsoever f ...
