Transportal. Good, bad? Sm - Oldie

Posted: Nov 29, 2013

I'm thinking of applying, but I would have to have a lot of work done to my computer for Windows 7.  Does anyone work for this company?  I couldn't find anything recent in the archives.  Thanks.

I work at Transportal and it is one of the better services that I have worked for. No service is ideal in today's outourcing game, but the pay is decent and always on time. The support team is readily available and helpful. On the account I work on there is rarely a lack of work and no ESL doctors. I would say to go for it and give them a try.

ha ha ha.... okay - if you say so...

to the OP... if you already, as you stated, need to "have a lot of work done" to your PC to be compatible with windows 7, you are already in a lot of trouble. Ask them about their "encryption" process, where they require you to encrypt YOUR "whole hard drive!" not just a file or two, but your whole hard drive. Many ICs who work there, who were mandated to have this done, and had an older PC, ended up losing everything on their computers due to the process. Are you willing to put yours at risk for a mere penny a day operation? There are MANY ESL dictators there, depending on what account you are on. They over hire and have many "favorites" who get all the good work, and cherry pickers who take the rest, leaving you with 20 second reports, fighting for every line you can make, hardly ever making the required 1200 lines per day, unless you want to work 24/7. It's not all as wonderful as the "other poster" intimated that it was. but by all means...check it out for yourself...if you still have a computer left after their "knowledgeable" support staff screws it all up for you. good luck to you!!

I would have to agree with the above person. You do have to encrypt your whole hard drive. She is also right that they over hire. When I first started with them I had plenty of work and then they hired more and it was horrible. She is also right about the cherry picking, plenty of that and trying to make your lines is very difficult. You are basically doing SOAP notes and I remember when I started there thinking I would never get my line count in a day because of these little 45 second reports. There were days you would do 50-60 reports to reach a mere 500 lines. Yes the staff is very friendly and always readily available but what does that matter when you can't reach your line count? If you don't reach your line count consistently then they start watching you. There could be days you would go without work or maybe 20 reports and 6 girls on at once fighting for those reports. Of course they have a flexible schedule, they give you all day to do your lines but seriously you need that because it will take you all day to reach those 1,200 lines if you even do.

Agree, plus micromanaged to the max degree. - system is horrid and

you are isolated, not even allowed to talk ask a guestion of QA. You are allowed to go through 2 people with questions, one is busy and leaves it to the other to get back to you, and the other over explained everything you already knew and would get so off track the question would never get answered.

which made asking questions the most dreadded task of all over there and they are bent on you getting it right so...was a cycle for sure. I couldn't work like that.

Good luck, tho, should you decided to give it a try. what didn't work for me, might for others.

TransPortal- Great for me - typeA

I'm cutting and pasting my previous reply from another thread on this topic-

Apparently, based on the black and white opinions expressed here, experiences vary depending on the account. I absolutely LOVE working for them, very professional, plenty of work. They pay every 2 weeks. We get a calender that shows when the payroll cutoffs are and when direct deposits are made.. (2 days after cutoff). Then they send a confirmation email detailing your lines (but of course checking your line counts yourself is very easy) and payment during that pay period, then you receive you check stub in the mail. I couldn't be happier.. it's almost too good to be true! It was a little slow getting through the hiring process, but I think that's because they are very professional. Communication is great. Again, this is MY experience. I would say give it a try. I didn't give up my other work when I started just in case things didn't work out with them and they were actually very understanding about that. So far, this is the best company I've ever worked for. Good luck in making your decision. It's a tough one, I know.

Happy for you - but again must depend

on the account you are placed on, and whether you are a "preferred" MT, or a cherry picker. If they put you on an ortho account, run to the hills. oh... and watch out for the ol' bait and switch, promising you one account until you get through your training and then putting you on something else ... um... a little less palatable. Have fun with the short one-liners!!! :-)

okay...well.. - TypeA

[ In Reply To ..]
.. I'm neither a "preferred" MT as I have no personal relationship with anybody at the company(not really sure how that's possible since we work from home, but in any case..They leave me alone to do my work) nor am I a cherry picker. "Cherry picking" is very obvious, so it would be quite evident to everybody there if that was the case.. .(and for what it's worth, I would never do that..not my nature)

I said right up front that was MY experience.. which is AWESOME. Sorry yours sucked. Don't appreciate the implication that since I'm happy there, I must be up to no good, or I'm about to get screwed over..

My message to the OP was only to share my personal positive experience and to give some encouragement.

There ARE plenty of happy, productive MTs around.. sorry you're not one of them.

But whatever..I'm out! Happy Saturday, folks! :)

I allegedly have an interview with TP today and was wondering...the note I received said between x and x hours??? I assume that means I should wait until the final hour on that particular parameter, but I have never had such a vaguely scheduled interview before. Any insight appreciated. Also, if someone could enlighten me on when the pay periods end/when pay day actually is, that would be awesome. Thanks!

what expander works with the Fusion platform? - would like to know

[ In Reply To ..]
Not all expanders work with all platforms. I'm wondering which one you use and what works best with their Dolbey Fusion platform. Thanks in advance.

Think you are - confused

[ In Reply To ..]
they do not have Dolby Fusion platform...they have Scribe platform. As for expanders, ask THEM.
first of all - Lighten up a little

Under careers, on THEIR website, for acute care transcriptionists, it lists the Dolbey Fusion platform. Just looking for a little info here. Sheesh!
The accounts I work on use Scribe - typeA
[ In Reply To ..]
and I use Breevy text expander with that. I'm not familiar with the platform you mentioned. I'm sorry, I know that's not much help to you.. :(

Fusion - Dolby MT
[ In Reply To ..]
They do use Fusion with some accounts. I believe they have a mix of platforms, often using Fusion if the hospital already has it installed.
Really depends on your account... - Hanging In There

I have one primary Orthopedic account and 2 backup Ortho accounts. Of the 3, one is absolutely horrid but my other 2 are great, have plenty of work, and no ESLs. So fortunately I never have to resort to my 3rd backup. I personally have never had a problem with anyone micro-managing me. Pay is always on time. For me it has been a good experience so far. HOWEVER, I have heard that the Acute care side isn't the greatest. Hope this helps.

Do you have scheduled days? or - just required lines-nm

nm

Hours - GeorgiaMT

[ In Reply To ..]
I am a contractor and they asked me what days I wanted to work but am not restricted to any specific hours. I think they just want to set a line count expectation as part of your agreement to know how many MTs to staff.
Thanks - appreciate the info! - nm

TransPortal --- RUN!!
Mar 29, 2011

Just got hired with them... and I'm on my last day of the first pay period... and let me tell you!!!   If you get an offer... RUN!! It sounds good, but is far from it!  Their sound files are horrible, they don't pay you any kind of training pay ( which I mistakenly MISSED on my part!! oops.. won't make that mistake again), and only give you LIMITED WORK while on QA review which amounts to like 200-300 lines a day!, and.... they have no account specifics whatsoever f ...

Nov 21, 2012

I am very good in orthopedics, have done quite a bit in my many years of transcription, did well on the tests as far as I could tell, but got an email that I didn't qualify. Now I see they have another job posting for the same job. What's up? Is it hard to get a job with them. Seriously, orthopedics is my thing and I am well experienced at it. I applied again just in case. Any infro anyone can give on getting a job there? Are they just hard to get a job with? ...

What's Up With TransPortal (IC) ???
Jan 03, 2015

pay 8 cents a line?  This is awfully low for an IC position isn't it?  I mean, when you are IC don't you have to pay your own taxes and have no benefits at all?  So in essence it's a lot less than 8 cents.  Are they out of the their minds or is this how long IC jobs are paying now?  Around 10 years ago when I considered an IC job it paid 13-15 cents a line to offset.  ???? ...
