Not too happy with the TTS recruiter right now. So I get an email - sm

Posted: Dec 30, 2014

they want to speak to me immediately.  I reply and tell them specifically in the list of questions that I do not have a working cell currently (cannot afford one and still do not have one).  So I get an email saying they tried calling and got an error message.  I am sitting here thinking okay I told you that in that list of questions, but whatever.  I said yeah is there any way to discuss positions via email?  Not a word since and that was Friday.  Not professional TTS!!  Just saying!

Couldn't you use a neighbor, friend or family member's phone? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
if you are job hunting, places will want to speak with you regarding interviews and such. I hope things get better for you soon.

I cannot say I am surprised at some of the rude responses. - snm

[ In Reply To ..]
I am looking for a job so I can afford a phone and no I am not the only one who does not have one. Geesh!!!!!

i do not see anyone being rude. n/m - xxx

n/m

There was nothing rude about the person's reply - You sound upset

[ In Reply To ..]
at someone just offering a suggestion. They wished you well.

Not ONE rude response have you gotten sm - acuteMLS

[ In Reply To ..]
you feel they're rude because people are pointing out that in this day and age you need to either have a landline or a cell available to you.

With all the programs out there, prepaid cheap phones available there is no excuse other than choosing not to seek a way.

its not good telling them you cant afford one - see message

[ In Reply To ..]
They are probably wondering if you are going to be able to afford your internet. I know it is wrong for them to assume this, but I would go to a friend or family member's house and call them. You should try another company. They will want to do a telephone interview with you too and that cannot be done via email.

what I do if I have to - nn

[ In Reply To ..]
I have a landline, but the times I have to use my cell (which is prepaid), I buy $10 worth of minutes (it's $2.00 a day), so that gives me five days of coverage. You can't blame this on the recruiter because you don't have a phone.

How can you possibly - interview

[ In Reply To ..]
for any job, transcription or other, and not have a working phone? Sooner or later you would have to speak with whoever is going to hire you. Plus how would you train properly without a phone. If you apply for any position you should be ready to discuss, test, etc. I think you are being unfair to their company with your statement.

another suggestion as well - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
If you are eligible for food stamps, you can qualify for a free cell phone with 250 minutes. It may not be a "smart phone," but at least you would be able to receive calls, and hence help in your job search as well. Where there is a will, there is a way. I also had a recruiter contact me via Skype at one time, using my computer, so that is also a possibility as well.

Yes true - you can apply on line. - see message

[ In Reply To ..]
There are two phone companies.

One is safe link and the other is assurance.

you don't have to buy anything and don't really have to have food stamps, just show low income.

Curious - anony

[ In Reply To ..]
If there is an emergency and you need to call for help, what would you do?

Don't think the recruiter is being unprofessional asking you to call her.

Well they emailed me and said they had currently.... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
picked the applicants they thought met their specifications. They didn't need anymore applicants.

PLEASE CHECK INTO THE SAFE LINK AND ASSURANCE FREE PHONES - the other poster suggested..sm

[ In Reply To ..]
that was very beneficial information she posted and she even said you can apply on-line. You may be able to ask about it at your local public aid or welfare office. That would really help you out while you are job hunting. I really hope you find something soon, good luck.

She can check into the phones on line and apply there - and one can be sent to you. SM

I had one for a while. But you are limited on the free minutes unless you add to it with your own funds.

Be aware, phone training and initial TTS hiring interview will eat up your minutes very quickly. You have one interview with recruiter, then another with the HR person I believe, and possibly another with tech support about your computer. Those calls can be lengthy. Then you will have training calls which also go for an hour or so.

I will probably get deleted if I put the links here for the phones, so she needs to google for them. There are different plans for different states.

Also be aware, the customer support is practically non-existent. You sit on hold for well over 25-30-40 minutes and may not get through. Email support is no better, you dont get an answer for days or weeks, and even then they may not address your problem by email due to "security reasons." I gave up on it as soon as I could afford to.

At least get a free phone to start, then try as hard as you can to put more minutes on it with your own funds. Depending on the plan, minutes will roll over and not expire.

Look up the phrase "free govt phone" and check safelink and assured wireless. Depending on your city, you may be able to go somewhere and get a phone from a retailer. I did here, there are shops or dealers set up booths around town.

Bummer. I applied and took their test and sm - =(

almost immediately got an email from one of the recruiters with the 19 questions on it and sent that back and was waiting to hear something. They haven't gotten back to me so I am assuming they won't after reading you got that email.

I guess on to the next company... =(

Don't give up on them. She was turned down - sm

[ In Reply To ..]

Because of no phone and all the training is done on the phone.  You can always reapply via email; send an email with your resume like they say to on the website.

Having your own - working phone

[ In Reply To ..]
is a prerequisite for any MT position. There are times your company, boss, supervisor, lead will need to speak to you, possibly for stat reports, conference calls, online training scheduling, or other reasons, and you must have a working phone (not email) for contact. And saying that you would get one if you got the job would not be acceptable in the eyes of most companies, I would think, as that is a risk they really have no reason to take as there are so many available MTs looking for work right now.

IMHO, the recruiter is not out of line at all. Certainly not unprofessional in any sense of the word.

TTS recruiter - sly

[ In Reply To ..]
I too received an email from a TTS recruiter, took their on line test, posted my resume, and they told me I did not meet their "qualifications" for experience??? I've been doing this for over 21 years, have typed every medical note type imaginable, have 99+% accuracy, have worked at home and at a world famous medical facility for over 20 years, but I'm not qualified? Guess that just means there is something better out there. Seems a bit silly to me, but their loss

Could Anyone Happy At Transcend Please Email Me.

I am considering Transcend and would like to know what you like about the company, overall communication, flexibility if you have an appointment.  I know not everyone is happy with certain companies and I take that into consideration.  Is there enough work?  I really would like to hear from people that are happy and who are doing acute care and/or radiology.  Thanks in advance for all your help.  ...

To MQ Recruiter
Nov 11, 2011

A comment from a post a few days ago has really been eating at me, so I'm finally compelled to respond. "I work for MedQuist as a recruiter. We understand how transient the transcription world is (employees hopping from one company to another)." One common misperception of MTs is that we're transients, more or less gypsies.  Years  ago, a VP of one of the very largest MTSOs told me "behind closed doors" that we were really just prostitutes whose pretty little heads could be ...

SS Recruiter Was It Just Me?
Sep 13, 2012

I had an interview earlier today wtih SS and I felt the recruiter was a bit snippy and condescending with the way the interview was handled.  The first thing she mentioned was the fact that she was "late and that the interview would have to be cut short" because when she tried to call me, she got the message that "all circuits were busy," on the phone line.  (Well it was 12 p.m. EST my time and we were having storms at the time).  I cannot control the phone lines or the phone comp ...

Looks Like A Certain Recruiter At SS Got Let Go
Oct 19, 2012

Just went to another job board and noticed SS has an opening for a recruiter.  I'm wondering since I did call the company and talked to "A" about this person, if other people followed suit and they decided to let her go.  I may call back and see if I could still be hired (it has been about a month since I had my bad interview experience with DN). ...

Recruiter E-mail
Aug 10, 2010

Has anyone else received a random e-mail from a MedQuist recruiter.  I got an e-mail this week from one advising me that they have openings for full and part-time acute care after 11 a.m. and radiology 1st and 2nd shift, $500 bonus, yada yada yada.  I have never applied at MedQuist and probably never will after reading about everything that they put their employees through.  I am not even looking for a job right now.  Why would they send these e-mails out when there ...

The Recruiter Is *ALWAYS* Nice
Dec 02, 2011

After some coworkers and I applied for positions with a different company, I was floored by how many went on and on about the recruiter being "so nice" and how that translated -- in their minds -- into a reflection of their immediate supervisor and everyone else within the company. OF COURSE the recruiter is nice!  If she weren't personable and didn't have that type of personality, most likely she would not be in the position of recruiter.  Only the WORST managed companies ( ...

TTS, A QUESTION TO ASK RECRUITER
May 17, 2012

One question to ask the TTS recruiter these days, should you apply for a position there, is this: "What are the plans for this account you are offering me?  Will it be a permanent, long-term assignment for me, or will the account be going back to the client, "in-house" or elsewhere as soon as the platform learns VR?"  If she replies that she doesn't know, consider asking her to consult with someone in the company who does know, like the team leader,  and then come back to yo ...

Recruiter Really Pursuing Me - Regarding Radiology
Aug 18, 2010

I didn't even apply to your company but for some reason they're all over me, calling and emailing.  I type radiology only; I told the recruiter that.  He insists I need to put in an application and test, but I'm not sure I want to spend the time and of course he refuses to give me any details until I spend it.  I know the Q's reputation is pretty bad - so I'm asking - how are the rad accounts?  And why don't they just advertise for rad MT's ...

Contact By Recruiter, Platform Question
Jul 13, 2012

I worked for Medquist in 2006.  I didn't stay long, but those 5 months seemed like a year.  There were some of the very worst dictating clinicians that I've ever heard and I always ended my shift with a severe headache.  Communication was practically nonexistent except for when QA wanted to complain.  I remember receiving an email once where the QA woman was responding to a report that I had worked on for more than an hour.  It was barely decipherable.  He ...
