Recruiter really pursuing me - regarding radiology - is there really any work?

I didn't even apply to your company but for some reason they're all over me, calling and emailing. I type radiology only; I told the recruiter that. He insists I need to put in an application and test, but I'm not sure I want to spend the time and of course he refuses to give me any details until I spend it. I know the Q's reputation is pretty bad - so I'm asking - how are the rad accounts? And why don't they just advertise for rad MT's if they need them this badly? What's the catch - horrible ESL, high maintenance/low pay accounts, bad supervisor, what?

NO WORK, at least in my BoB. When there is work, they have so over-staffed the accounts that its really very little work for anyone. This is not a once in a while thing, its constant.

I'm not sure if there is correlation between the two....maybe, maybe not.

Funny, not too long ago I asked my CCM about switching to Radiology and if that would help my chances of NJA. She said, no, better to stay in critical care as Radiology is even worse with the NJA.

My opinion as to why they are actively recruiting anyone they can is to hire and offer them a much lower line rate to replace the many experienced (hence, in their opinion, overpaid) who are leaving bc of NJA.

You will still get NJA, I guarantee it.

True that, girl...On the company board, a Landmark employee was just laid off because Landmark not only lost the account to EMR, BUT they told her that she was being cut because of her high salary and they had to hire in lower-paid MTs because they were having to offer lower prices to clients.

You are most definitely barking up the right tree on this one, girl!

I suspected as much. Another overhiring frenzy, which is what I'm sick of dealing with at my current job. I used to work for Spheris and after what I went through there, the thought of possibly having the same lying supervisor is more than this MT wants to contend with. I appreciate your honesty!

I don't work in radiology, but I do critical care transcription. I started working for MQ in Feb 2010 and this morning was the first time I got a NJA screen. I see how everyone seems to be having trouble, but at least in my accounts we always have work. FYI.

I started working radiology for the Q in 2001, and despite a few bumpy patches here and there, things were great until I was forced into HIM this year because of a lack of radiology work. Now I've been told there's a lack of radiology MTs, and I was moved back to radiology, but I keep running out of radiology work. I'm not sure what's going on, but my paycheck is really suffering because of this mess.

The ONLY reason a recruiter would be gunning for someone in today's climate is that the Q must be bidding on an account and needs to show they have XX MTs that can do it. These situations usually mean you get hired, no work for you "yet" and then once they land the acct, it goes to India who does most of the Q's rad work now.

I worked FT for them for a while, then left, and there was plenty of work when I left. But when I came back recently to work PT there was hardly any work at all. I'm glad I don't work for them full time anymore. Its just strange! I mean strange!

I played that game when I worked for Spheris. They would have lied and strung me along forever had I not quit. Been there, got the curry-stained t-shirt, don't need another!

Oh, now I'm giggling - the letters I had to type in to make this post started with "BS Q". LOL! That's for sure!

After some coworkers and I applied for positions with a different company, I was floored by how many went on and on about the recruiter being "so nice" and how that translated -- in their minds -- into a reflection of their immediate supervisor and everyone else within the company. Will it be a permanent, long-term assignment for me, or will the account be going back to the client, "in-house" or elsewhere as soon as the platform learns VR?" I think it's terrible that an MQ recruiter is on this board alluding to threatening MQ employees and former MQ employees about voicing their opinions about this company and that somehow they can figure out who we are. I have applied to Nuance, and already went thru the online process. Also had friends at N submit my resume. I got a voice mail from a "Colleen" at Nuance today, saying she has my resume, but I have to complete some "Assessment", which she has emailed to me, as far as links to follow. I worked for Medquist in 2006. I didn't stay long, but those 5 months seemed like a year.
