Medwrite -- the final scoop - nonnie

Posted: May 30, 2013

This is an except of an email that I received from the CEO of the company today.  This was after I sent an email last week and things were "misconstrued" on their part.  After reading this, I am of the opinion that while yes, they offer straight transcription at a "decent rate" by today's standards, it also explains to me why I was tearing my hair out on the dictators I had.  We American MTs were getting the "garbage," with no way of being able to look things up by patient.  Frankly, the weekly pay checks were not worth the aggravation this company put me through.

I am tending to think this company may have been M2ComSys and Rapid Transcription combined since they have Los Angeles area phone numbers, but the address on the checks is in Las Vegas.

"Medwrite has indeed over 1000 MTs offshore and US we have never had  issues with any MTs on any case on my 10 years working with this company, this is a well establish transcription and software company founded by Dr K.S. over 15 years ago. "

Addendum to my OP - OP

I sent an email to the CEO of this company within the last hour or so and explained to him that I basically lost a weeks worth of wages due to the fact that they should not have hired MTs when they were putting a new software platform in place and expecting them to wait until these changes were in place, as well as the fact that it was my belief that the "good work" was going to India and the US MTs were getting the "garbage." To make a long story short, I am receiving via Fed Ex another check equal to the check I received earlier this week, so at least they are "fair" in that regard.

I never worked for this company, but sounds like a lot of them. Send the better dictations to the offshore workers or those with minimal experience, and the least desirable work goes to experienced people.

The same things happen when the work goes to voice recognition. All in the name of the company making more money and the workers making less under the premise of faster turnaround. It's, of course, all bullshit. If there is any work left to be done as traditional transcription, it's the worst dictators imaginable.

And then we try to find a better company. This leads to extensive testing, start up, training (maybe), and totally bottomed out production for a period of time, if one survives that circus. What I don't understand that even if we are classified as employees, the companies don't pay minimum wage for the nonpaid time involved with getting up and running. As an employee, we are still paid by production, but don't get paid for things that take time but are not counted as lines and therefore not paid for. Part-time employees really get the shaft because, of course, there are no benefits at all.

Just know that Medrite is not the only garbage company out there. Some of us have run into lots of them -- repeatedly.

I whole heartedly agree - OP

I began to "smell the provberbial rat" about my second day in. What got me is that when I was trained, I was trained by the tecbnician who installed my software (for about 10-15 minutes of training). I found it odd that he asked me twice if I was "comfortable with Texas accents." I assured him that I was used to many different types of accents and that I felt it would be no problem. Little did I know. I am by no means a "new MT" and have worn many hats including QA and being a SWAT team member, and I think this is one of the worst accounts I have ever worked on. It's just my opinion, but they out and out lied when the orignal ad was posted on another board, because they did not list the name Medwrite anywhere in the ad -- I believe it was originally posted under ASAP, and I believe this person was a subcontractor since the position was IC.

I know that weekly pay can be very tempting, but when I got the contract and looked it over before signing it, it stated that pay was every other week. I did not find out it was weekly pay until after confirming it with the "original contact person."

I am by no means, trying to badmouth the company, but I do understand that in today's times, weekly pay is VERY tempting. I will actually be doing general transcription and while it doese't pay what I would like for it to pay, it does pay per line and downloaded 2 sample reports. One was 20 pages long and the other report was 76 pages long. I am in my late 50s and really getting tired of "the games."

no...Medwrite is not a combination of these 2 companies you mentioned. - sm

I've been working for Medwrite close to 5 years. Just to clarify, they are independent having nothing at all to do with M2ComSys or Rapid Transcription. Everything else you stated in your original post, true.

so what parts are true then? - OP

[ In Reply To ..]
I find it odd that their address is Las Vegas (M2ComSys) and their phone numbers are 714 (Rapid), you have only been working for the company for 5 years and BOTH of these companies have not advertised in that period of time. Also, the part that was placed in quotes was from the CEO himself, and he used poor grammar.

Bottom line, is the fact that it is an Indian-based company, wbo is "fronting" here in the US, just like the big 2.

want to add also... - sm

That account you speak of is the absolute worst I have ever worked on in my 15 years in this business. Its terrible!

Yep - OP

I have over 30 yeras experience and I was literally tearing my hair out and swearing at these doctors. There is absolutely no way to look up prior reports by patient, the way of looking up reports is something I have NEVER seen before and I believe it would be a HIPAA violation. I have had some really tough dictators in the past and my previous companies knew that if I left more than 3 blanks in a report it was because there was an issue with the sound or the doc was a real mush-mouth.

Again, JMHO, but I just feel that the company in general is being very deceptive.
sent you an email - sm

not sure about HIPAA violation since there are no patient names or identifying data on there, but it is certainly a useless way to look reports up. The worst of the worst that account. I honestly don't think there could be a worst than that and still be English haha!

Here's The Legal Scoop
Mar 04, 2010

Good news and bad news.  I just got off the phone with Mr. Young.  He specializes in cases like mine, but only from an unemployment point-of-view, not class-action suits.  He also charges $3500 to take on an individual unemployment case (sheesh might as well take my first-born).  I briefly rehashed with him the fact that uf we don't comply with their new rules, they will drop our salaries by half or more, and that this has been an ongoing problem with them for years, cha ...

CMS Final Rule
