I just wanted to let those of you know who were helpful in my quest for an ophth sample....I am very grateful for the help I got. All I wanted was some information on samples.

To the rest of you MTs who responded with criticism, judgment, and assumptions...stick it in your ear! One of you thought I cared what a "blessed" life you had and went on and on about it. ?? What? Didn't really fit my post, but okay...guess you gotta tell someone! Someone else, maybe the same person, decided that I had to be enlightened and told that ophth surgery and ophth clinic notes are different. Really? You ACTUALLY think I didn't know that? I was given advice about not testing for jobs I wasn't qualified for...told I wasn't suppose to seek help..blah blah blah blah.

The only thing that matters is what REALLY happened and what I REALLY know. The fact is, the owner of this company knew very well what my qualifications were and what they were NOT as they were in a little thing called a RESUME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After reviewing that little thing called a RESUME, she contacted me anway. So, to you know-it-alls....I wasn't hiding anything or applying for a job without truth!

Some of you took my responses to your criticism with grace...some of you didn't. Don't know what to tell you. I thought this board was a place where mature people make a post and mature responses are given. I didn't realize I had to stoop to high school tactics to get some of you off my back. I was told that if I didn't like people's opinions, I shouldn't post. That same person told me to go back to my hateful life because apparently she didn't like MY opinion. ?? Huh???? If ya can't take the heat...get out of the kitchen sister!

Anyway....moving on. Thanks to all you mature people who responded. I sure appreciate that you actually answered my question and didn't send me a reply that Dr. Phil would receive. Some people will never grow up. To the rest of you...thanks and have a great upcoming typing week!

gauging maturity - insight

I read the post and to be honest, I didn't care one way or another about the topic. What I care about now is that the level of maturity continues to deteriorate the more you post.

The measure of a person's maturity is the ability to allow others their own points of view while maintaining one's own digity. This may be helpful to you in your life travels.

The OP was venting about the ridiculously rude responses she received after asking a question and I don't blame her. She was not asking a question this time, just venting. So what is the purpose of posting and telling her how her maturity level is deteriorating? This is exactly what she is talking about. Why does everyone feel the need to be so darned rude all the time? What is so difficult about answering a simple question without sarcasm or read past the question or a venting session without answering and being horrible and ruining someone's day? I just don't get it.

Thank you to "insight" for calling it as it is. These MTs can dish it out, but can't take it. Unbelievable. They want to give me their definition of maturity, tell me about their private life...All I did was ask a question and got slammed for it. I didn't appreciate their slams and I SLAMMED BACK!! Apparently that didn't go over well. I'm not immature, I'm just sick of these self-righteous MTs. Thank you so much for your understanding and seeing outside THEIR box of judgment!!!

If I ever wondered about whether or not a potential employer saw what I posted on this board and worried that it would negatively impact how they felt about hiring or not hiring me, it would have to be these threads.

IF you were hired, IF the person who hired you read all this, I would think they could be changing his/her mind and withdrawing the offer. Employers don't want drama with new hires. They expect some level of maturity. Every time someone posts something you don't like, you get another chance to learn how to walk away and not post. And yet, here you are, refusing to learn anything. You should be praying no one alerts the hiring manager about these posts rather than responding over and over just to get in the last word.

Her provoking another poster with "Get a life," then pretending to be perplexed when the other poster informs her she does indeed have a life, one she considers blessed, and other retorts that I'm sure she thought were clever but were immature and provocative...I suspect that poster who pointed out if she couldn't manage the test for the position might be an indicator that she might not be able to handle the transcription for that position in general, REALLY hit a defensive nerve with her.

I lost sympathy for her and her increasingly inflammatory, provoking posts a long time ago in her earlier thread.

I do think her obvious need to have the "final word" quite telling about her level of maturity, as well as possibly a direct indicator of her skill as an MT.

Sorry, OP, flame away, but I think you should definitely have stopped while you were a wee bit ahead and appeared at least perhaps somewhat gracious. Now you just sound like someone testing for a position that is clearly beyond your scope of experience and dead-set on "bad-mouthing" any poster who doesn't agree that you're the greatest thing since sliced bread when it comes to ophthalmology transcription.

This is the first time I've bothered to reply to your post (the original one I never bothered to interject my opinion into), and I certainly won't bother reading or replying to any more of your "thou doth protest too much" rhetoric. Your hypervigilant and extremely defensive responses speak volumes about your actual skill and ability.

Good luck to you...and to your future ophthalmology employee (and their patients) if they hire you. I suspect they're going to need it.

It does seem to me like everybody is kind of picking on the person who initially just asked a question. I think this whole thing is kind of ridiculous. It has spun out of control. Why aren't all of us working together, trying to love one another in such a competitive environment we are working in anymore, with voice recogn and overseas work, instead of attacking each other?? Let's try to love one another instead of arguing. It doesn't matter who is mature or not. I don't see that all of the arguing back and forth shows anyone is acting in a mature way. Let's just try to help each other. We all need each other.

Can anyone tell me in no uncertain terms, with absolute certainty - is crepitance a word? I cannot find it anywhere EXCEPT on sites like this where MTs are saying it is not a word. I always thought it was not a word but, of course, it keeps creeping up in reports. I even find it often in voice rec reports, over and over, which tells me that other MTs are not changing it - and this is what is prompting me to ask. Please help - thanks! ...

I finally cut ties with the Q after being returning to work for them and finding them not to be the company they once were or the pay was not the same. After careful consideration and finding another position, I resigned. Awaiting my pay out from my PTO and being told it would be deposited today, nada. Anyone have any idea about this? This was published in the Federal Register last week, correct? I have a friend who is in a battle with an insurance company over a very sick child. They are always throwing up obstacles for coverage. She told me that out-of-network treatment is covered at 50% of 200% of Medicare rates. So we are trying to uncover exactly what that rate is. I have been waiting for final pay from MTSO since May when check was "sent" It has not been received by me, nor has it been returned to MTSO. Operator of MTSO says they have "fulfilled their legal obligation" and the fact that I have not received money is unfortunate. I resigned from MModal a week ago, June 23rd and received my final paycheck deposit yesterday. It was over $100 short! I worked the same number of hours I also do and transcribed within the ball park the same number of lines. I also had 12 hours of PTO they owed me for that I had not used.
