If You Were a True Contractor - KillerAngel Posted: Aug 12th, 2020 - 7:59 am In Reply to: If you want work, you are going to do the good, bad and ugly - June
You could subcontract work. The general contractor on "This Old House" does not build the house by himself. He subcontracts carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and landscaping to name a few, and he contracts with people who specialize in those areas. That way, he gets good quality at a fair price in a timely manner.
Unless you are a true contractor looking for your own clients, MT doesn't do anything like that. A true contractor can negotiate price. That includes charging more for working with poor quality materials (poor dictators). A true contractor can specialize (play to their strengths). As a business, that makes sense. Do what you can do well, not what you don't know or can't tolerate.
This "one size fits all" push to "cheapify" MT does not serve the patient in terms of an accurate record or the MT so-called "contractors" who have no profit margin left.
