I did not realize it was cheaper to file - chapter 13

My lawyer advised Chapter 7 because the banks/creditors never take your house or car anyway in my area since it is a depressed income area where house prices also never go up. Also we had pretty much low or no equity in both house and car.

It did take me 7 months to pay for the lawyer, however, which was a pain with the creditors breathing down our necks.
