are the schoolyard bullies. Now, it is the mid-sized and smaller MTSOs who are the bullies too. I believe they all think, regardless of size, that they have us over a barrel because of lack of jobs, and they feel they can treat ICs abominably as it suits them. A few of them are going to have to feel the heat from the IRS and DOL before something changes. Most of these companies, not all, seem to fail to understand the word independent. MTs who are ICs want the flexibility that comes along with being an IC, especially with obtaining other contracts but cannot because of the demands and control these companies are exercising. With pay scale being what it is today, to work as an IC is very costly, yet just look at all the job postings for ICs. These companies benefit more than the independent contractor, that is for sure. I am hoping there are more and more who will stand up and speak up and not be a punching bag for the bullies.
