My attitude... - anon

Posted: Jul 19th, 2015 - 9:17 am In Reply to: Bad attitudes? - Does anyone even like their job anymore?

I have gone around and around with myself on this about my own attitude. I have been upset with MT because of the dwindling paycheck. I like MT work and I believe I am good at it for over 12 years now. I would tell myself you just need to be more focused, learn more shortcuts, try to work faster - change your attitude, be thankful for your job, and on and on.

This is all the stuff my company tells their MTs - if you want to make more money, you need to be more productive. Or if you aren't productive, then it's your own fault.

I am sick of this lie we are fed. I have been training for another job outside of the MT field recently, and I am seeing just how this has beaten me down for the last couple of years. It is so nice to be making a change for myself.

I have not been blessed to work for the companies that I read about where some are still making $15 an hour or more and treated like a team member. For me and my MT employment situation I have found that my attitude is not what's wrong here. I have tried really, really, really hard to be positive and change my attitude, and I have concluded that I am not the problem.
