Webmedxers, did any of you write the CEO, President, etc. about things? sm - MT

Posted: May 03, 2011

I have already written them a very "level-headed but concerned" toned email about the way my job has changed. I included the "round-robin" work where we get work from lots of different accounts. I also mentioned that, in my opinion, the new MT director isn't treating people the way she should. All of this is affecting the quality and quantity of our work and will lead to patient error and damage our relations with clients. I mentioned how Webmedx seems to have changed. And then I gave some "humble suggestions" on how Webmedx might be restored to a more profitable company in which people love their work.

I know others have done the same and sent them to the top 3 at the company.

Who knows whether it will do any good? I have to think it will at least get things right in their faces. If the tone of your letter is not accusatory but concerned and stating how your work is changed and why this isn't a good system now, I would think that would be helpful -- especially if many more send these in.

You sure did give a lot of information in your post that could be used against you. If I were you, I'd be worried about being without a job soon. I hope not. What you did is how things should operate. But that's not the world we live in now.

If you go back and reread, I said several employees wrote letters. sm - MT

I'm one of many who indicated they said the same thing. And think about it -- they got my LETTER. I didn't send it anonymously. On the contrary, I've always found them to be very approachable. If a company would fire you for expressing your thoughts and concerns in a non-attacking way, would you really want to work for that company anyway?

Well said.

Thank you, MT, and the others. I thought about it but - decided to wait to assess the effect of these

further changes, especially addressing pay equity for SR compared to transcription. In the meantime, though, thanks again.

I had considered doing this, but was unsure how it would be received. I applaud what you did and now will do so as well. I think it is key to not have personal attacks, but to state the reasons we are concerned, specifically how it affects us and the quality (the round robin pooling), and how this could pressure us to push for increasing our LPH at possibly a loss of quality just so that we can eat!

I believe (but could be wrong) that the person making some of these decisions has not had transcription experience, and does not understand how difficult it is to sit 8 hours plus concentrating, typing as fast as we can, and the absolute need for a few breaks (a little more laxity in our scheduling!) in order to maintain quality!

I will include these issues in a concerned letter as you suggested. Thank you for an excellent post!

Thank you for writing those letters to Sean and Jay. Anon, you are correct, the person making these changes has never been an MT. I am no longer a HappyWebbie, the big account lost was my primary and I just know the results of that are going to be NSA everywhere, so I opted to get out and move forward because I cannot afford to have an NSA summer/fall. I miss Webmedx and what it used to be. I feel if enough write to Sean and Jay and express these same concerns, and concerns about the "sweat shop" feel that is taking over, they will act, they DO care! Hang in there until then. You can do it.

Sean and Jay did not care enough when the person making decisions doesn't have a clue about being an MT was hired. What comes around goes around and when Webmedx goes under, so will they. Shame, shame on you Webmedx and it is a "sweat shop" no doubt about that.

Write Off?
Jun 11, 2010

Hi, eveyrone. I just started as an MT in Michigan, and I am going to be working from home fairly soon. I am moving back to New York for my music degree and transcribing in my free time. Problem: I have a very old laptop that is starting to fall apart. The keys don't always work and, although it is my baby, I can not keep using it for transcriptions. My boss had said he heard that we could write off a new laptop as an expense (much as flight attendants can write off their own laptops and mak ...
