Well, I certainly feel sorry for those 60 MTs they were able to persuade to go to work for them -- wonder what kind of promises they made them?? They've gotten this procedure down pat over the years -- drawing in unsuspecting MTs with promises of making more money. All I have to say is good luck, especially since they probably failed to tell them about all of the wonderful changes that are happening, like loss of pay for sending to QA -- make sure you've updated your antidepressant scripts, buy large bottles of pain pills for all of the headaches that you're going to experience working for the Marvelous MQ. Don't mean to sound so negative, but I took off those rose-colored specs a very long time ago and just calling it as I see it. Anyone want to bash won't bother me a bit -- to each his own opinion.

MedQuist Inc. (NASDAQ: MEDQ) today announced that it has been awarded a contract by Detroit Medical Center (DMC), a nationally respected healthcare system, to provide transcription outsourcing services. This award expands MedQuist's existing relationship to include services for Emergency Medicine documentation for six of DMC's major organizations: Children's Hospital, Detroit Receiving Hospital, Harper University Hospital, Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, DMC Surgery, and Sinai-Grace Hospital.

A key factor in DMC's selection was MedQuist's ability to deploy experienced resources at a scalable level and with demonstrated standards and safeguards to meet HIPAA requirements and DMC's overall quality patient care objectives at a cost-effective price. In addition, MedQuist was able to preserve more than 60 Medical Transcriptionist (MT) positions at DMC by hiring those MTs who were already doing the work.

Do these hospitals really know or even care that MQ offshores, thus providing the lowest cost to them and taking away American jobs, but, oh wait a minute, they saved 60 pre-existing positions. How wonderful! Don't think I'd want to transcribe those reports anyway. Probably more GSW's and stabbings than anything. God, it's been 2 weeks since I quit and I don't miss MQ one iota.

I thought this just happened. I suppose you are now put on some real doozie accounts, right? The worst of the worst? Or do you just have no work at all?

only after directly questioning them though. They tried to tell us it was because we were all working at the same time and so there were no charts available. Then they said that charts were available during the nighttime hours. However, those MTs that worked that shift were not getting any work either, so they had to fess up and tell us that the charts were going to India (and that was only after one of us did her research and asked right out). I finally asked to be transferred and now I have work. It is mostly ASR though.

I'm so sorry, but know exactly how you're feeling -- I was a recruit in a similar way some years ago. It's not about the MT, it's the money that's going to line the upper echelon's satin suit pockets, while we have to go shopping at Goodwill!! Oh, wait a minute, they'll say we don't need fancy clothes since we work from home -- they have an answer for everything that justifies what they do for their good and not the MTs, you will soon find that out I hate to say. I know I sounded negative in my other post and this one, but welcome aboard anyway and we'll just have to all try to make the best of it for as long as any of us want to be here or we get booted!! I just wish I would have known about this board before I made the jump, but that's water under the bridge and the water that's there now stinks to high heaven P-U!!

They should have one standard format across all clients and if any client wants it changed, they should charge them per change or addition a recurring fee. At the very least they should organize them better. Maybe take advantage of different font colors, so they are easy to spot in the CP panel, like: Physical exam: Stacked left, all caps subheadings. and then pick a color for exceptions and put them all in red so its easier to spot. ...

I received a work type which has recently been changed over from a mandatory standard to headings. As I get shuffled around so many different accounts, so, of course I haven't seen this work type enough to remember where the body heading goes. Why, oh why can't all the dictators on one account use the same format????!!!!! Dozens of doctors on the same account and they all want different styles. Some want headings capped, some do not. My manager emailed a list of hotkeys for WC but not the ones dealing with stopping and starting dictation. Everyone at my facility uses a pedal, so I have asked my coworkers but no one can give me an answer. I've found alt+p plays dictation and alt+s stops.
