I work for a company that is being acquired by a larger company that begins with a T.  My current account apparently is watching the quality and TAT very closely.  They are a very demanding client, but in the 10 years of working for this client I don't remember this being an issue. In the meantime, I am bombarded by phone calls and emails to work, work, work.  I guess everyone quit.  I work at home and never talk to anyone and have no idea of what is going on but I really tired of this situation.

Just a suggestion...

A while back, I was working for a company that did not hesitate to call me in the middle of the night. I had an answering machine, but even if I turned off the ringers on the phone, the sound of the answering machine in a far off room would wake me up. So, I searched for a solution, and this is the one I chose:

I know that this gadget will not work for connecting to work platforms or anything like that, but I use the Magic Jack as my contact phone/phone number for employers/IC clients, business associates, etc. It plugs into the USB port of my computer and I only plug it in when I am working or willing to accept phone calls. It has caller ID, so I can screen calls. When it is not plugged in, the caller can leave as many messages as they want. I have had this gadget for a few years and it has worked great so far for this purpose. I also can make long-distance phone calls for the one flat yearly rate.

I have a freebie email that is used only for work/business, and I check it while working or otherwise at my convenience.

You don't have to be harassed by excessive phone calls and emails.

Unless you have already received an offer of hire from the larger company (via E-mail, for example), play it safe and do extra work if you are able to do that. Submit a schedule that includes your extra hours and mention that working without interruption by non-critical phone calls and E-mails promotes productivity; and, you wish you were available to be "on call"; however, working beyond the schedule provided is not possible at this time.

Personally, I'd rather be receiving calls for work than making calls looking for work, but the ringing would be annoying. I'd put their number on my cellphone reject list and flip open my cellphone every now and then.

When companies change hands, they usually like to do so with a clean slate, so they may be calling you and everyone else so there is no backlog when the change-over takes place, but I'd be typing my fingers off, because if account goes to a company that only cares about TAT and not work availability for MT, you might need that reserve. Just sayin'.

AND I may be totally wrong.

Did they give you a date when new company takes over or offer you a position at the new company?

The easiest way to handle this is a Google Voice number - see message

It's free. GV assigns you a number, and you can then go into the settings and have that GV number forward to whatever phones you want. You can also set what times it will not ring and will go directly to voicemail. You can send it to voicemail and even listen to it as they're leaving the message and then pick up. There's automatic call screening of all calls you receive. When you finally have enough of the company and move on, you can even set it to block so when your caller dials you, they get a message that your phone number is no longer in service.

Works well for ANYONE you don't know well and may want to cut off from later. I use my GV number as my primary number now when I meet anyone or give my information for any business. Only my family and close, long-term friends have my personal number.

What type of a phone and/or adapter do you need to buy to actually get a dial tone or can you? Don't have home phone, only cells. Would like home phone for the kids to you with it and have their own numbers without running up cell minutes.

You don't need to buy a phone or adapter.

It will only forward to things you do have. You give out the Google number and then configure it to ring whatever phones you already have that you want it to ring. If your kids have their own cell phones, using Google voice with their cell phones doesn't use cell phone minutes. I don't have a landline, either.

Go to Google Voice's page (see link below) to learn about it and follow their instructions. It was pretty easy for me. You just follow the steps.

Well, I certainly feel sorry for those 60 MTs they were able to persuade to go to work for them -- wonder what kind of promises they made them??  They've gotten this procedure down pat over the years -- drawing in unsuspecting MTs with promises of making more money.  All I have to say is good luck, especially since they probably failed to tell them about all of the wonderful changes that are happening, like loss of pay for sending to QA -- make sure you've updated your antide ...

They should have one standard format across all clients and if any client wants it changed, they should charge them per change or addition a recurring fee.  At the very least they should organize them better.  Maybe take advantage of different font colors, so they are easy to spot in the CP panel, like:  Physical exam: Stacked left, all caps subheadings.  and then pick a color for exceptions and put them all in red so its easier to spot.  ...

I received a work type which has recently been changed over from a mandatory standard to headings. As I get shuffled around so many different accounts, so, of course I haven't seen this work type enough to remember where the body heading goes. So I inform my TSM of the deficiency that needs to be corrected as I spent considerable time checking past reports. Thirty different accounts, all with confusing and convoluted CPs.  Follow the DQS, then the TSG, then AAMT, then DQS and throw in the JCAHO dangerous abbreviation list just for funsies.  Wait...  Maybe it's the AAMT, TSG, then BOS, only this client is using BOS3, so disregard the BOS2 unless it is Dr. Bobsmyknob who wants his verbatim, but only when he is at the outreach clinic.  And if the CP doesn't specifically say it, DON'T DO IT no matter what the DQS, AAM ...

I have been noticing for the last few weeks that my deleted email file is empty when I have NOT emptied it or deleted the trashed emails.  Yesterday I went to my inbox and deleted several emails that I did not need.  They went to the deleted file and today they are GONE.  The deleted file is empty. Why, oh why can't all the dictators on one account use the same format????!!!!! Dozens of doctors on the same account and they all want different styles.  Some want headings capped, some do not.   Some want bold, some do not.  Some want them underlined and some do not.  Some want PHYSICAL EXAM, some PHYSICAL EXAMINATION, and then some EXAM.  Followinig on down in a note, you can just imagine how many differences there are with each dictator.  These guys ...

My manager emailed a list of hotkeys for WC but not the ones dealing with stopping and starting dictation. Everyone at my facility uses a pedal, so I have asked my coworkers but no one can give me an answer. I've found alt+p plays dictation and alt+s stops.
