You call this a raise?? - ilovesheldoncooper

Posted: Feb 21, 2013

I am so discouraged!!  My morale has never been lower.  I have been with this company for over 3 years and I started off with an embarrassingly low rate, then after a few months, I was given a raise that was equally embarrassing but I was made to feel ungrateful when I said something about it.  I have endured living off of $0.07 cpl for almost 3 years now.  The only reason I haven't gotten out is because my personal life has been insane through a tough divorce and a job change seemed too much to handle.  So I finally got the guts to ask for the first raise in almost 3 years and what did I get?  A 3% raise, which comes out to $0.0721.  My manager tells me good job, but when I saw that I got tears in my eyes!!!!  Why am I working so hard to pump out quality reports when I can't seem to get above minimum wage!  I just want to quit!!

at least you got a raise, as little as it is... - I have no work and have had no raise since 2000!

[ In Reply To ..]
Supposedly I am topped out. I dont get any straight typing anymore. I only get ASR, but I have had no work for months already and am getting unemployment.

At least you have work, and have a raise. I have been a LOYAL employee for 17 years!!!

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that.

Pay - Just wondering...

[ In Reply To ..]
What is the average pay for M*Modal level 3 MTs? It's got to be more than that.

its your states minimum wage. - get used to it.

Or less.

HOWdid u get a raise. In a meeting we were - told NO raises in future.

[ In Reply To ..]
No raises to all of us. whats the deal?

cheers to getting that raise! - radMT

[ In Reply To ..]
In total of 12 years (give or take) I have received a total of 1 raise and then a recent 30% pay cut, as did most others. Also told, no raises, so dont bother asking. And even with ASR that extra $50 to make up each week in earnings is proving quite difficult if nearly impossible.
Cheers to the 0.03cent raise. Obviously there is hope for the rest of us. I applied for govt assistance food allowance. Darn, i need to mail that crap in before my 15 day window is gone. I will take anything at this point just to help out while i search & decide on a new career.

Just email your TSM asking for a raise. They are - sm

supposed to have an audit performed on you to see if you pass and then you get a 3% raise as long as your attendance, quality, and other criteria are met.

Someone posted months ago when Amy had - sm

her last conference call that Amy said there would be no more raises given but that person was wrong, probably a troll.
sounds like u r the trol cuz thats exactly - what she said

well, actually what she said was - 2nd shift
[ In Reply To ..]
what she actually said was that there were no plans at this time to return pay to previous levels.
If we're still talking about Amy, she said there will be no raises in the future. - Plain and clear. NM

you should go back and listen again - 2nd shift
[ In Reply To ..]
not that it matters. No plans to return to previous pay rates is pretty much the same as no raises whatsoever.
I got a raise shortly after I started last year and then - asked about 6 months later for
[ In Reply To ..]
another one and got it based on the fact that I am tier 3 and was not yet at 10 and 6. They raised me to 9 and 6 and told me that was it, no more raises. I guess it all depends.

tsm was emailed and she emailed back the - exact same thing, no

[ In Reply To ..]
no raises will be given

As long as you are under the tier max - other criteria

[ In Reply To ..]
That tier max is the big one. It sounds like the OP being a tier 3 was way under the tier 3 max of 10 and 6 so good for her for at least getting something. Why they would not even bump her up to tier 1 rates at 8 and 4 is pathetic. When Amy stated no raises I am pretty sure she meant no raise on tier rates. They have been the same since 2006 and those who were grandfathered in at higher rates are now maxed out on the current tier level pay. So 10 and 6 is the most anyone will get as a tier 3 no matter the experience, no matter what.
I am tier 3 also - mom2huskies

I asked my new CCM about getting a raise and I told her I was below the max. She flat out told me no raise.

I cannot wait to get away from this company.

Raise - gettingworried

[ In Reply To ..]
Congratulations on your raise! At least it's something. I finally decided, after 30 years as an MT, to test for my CMT, because there was a pay increase promised. After I got my certificate, I was given a raise, only to have it taken back two weeks later because it put me over some sort of wage cap, which I found out is not exactly the case.

My CCM told me there are no raises. - mom2huskies

I can understand how you feel. I finally decided to go back to school so I can get out of transcription.

I really hope things improve for you.

raise - mona

[ In Reply To ..]
You shouldn't complain. I have been with this company for almost 20 years and havent gotten a raise in probably 10. Jeeze, be happy you got anything

Is that for SR or straight transcription? - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
If it's SR, that is a LOT more than most of us are making, and I have been in this game for 15+ years now.

That's what I want to know. - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I wish she would have told us. It's too low to be transcription rate, isn't it? It would have to be SR, I would think. I can't believe a rate would be that low for transcription but who knows...

That's $50/month if you are making line counts - at FT w/benefits.

[ In Reply To ..]
or $600/year.

0.0021x24,000=$50.40.

That would pay my water bill or half my electric or half my cable/internet or half my car insurance or half my land taxes or half my homeowner's insurance.

I was at my previous job for 5 years without a raise at all so I'd be grateful for it.

Why Do MTSO Advertise, But Never Call Or If They Do Call, Nothing.
Feb 20, 2012

I am tired and frustrated from applying and sending out resumes only to be ignored.  It is like a game with them, I think.  MedGarde even has an interview which has absolutely nothing to do with your skills or qualifications.  In fact it seems like psychological testing to see if you are mentally competent or something like that.  I swear I feel like a mouse that is being tested and run through a maze to see how well you perform, but even mice will get the prize or food event ...

Reporting Time Pay Aka On Call Or Call-in Pay
May 08, 2015

I am considering requesting this pay which (depending on the state) considers us to be on-call and must be paid for part of our shift if no work. I have had it up to here with Nuance and running out of work, adding more and more accounts and STILL no work. Got a second job and STILL being screwed by Nuance in the sense that I cannot rely on my first job (income wise), because when there is enough work they manage to screw my cpl with their lovely FIESA, then as soon as I have no errors the work ...

When Is It Appropriate To Ask For A Raise?
Nov 27, 2010

I am a newbie who has had a job for 3 months now. I really like the company I am working for, and I love the account I am on. Problem is, there is not very much work, the work I do get is not consistent, and I am not getting paid very much either. I have requested more work in the past and was told I would get some then didn't, then given another account for a few days and haven't had it since. I think I was just getting overflow that day. I am grateful that I have  ...

Regarding Asking For A Raise...
Jan 02, 2012

So I've been working for a fantastic transciption company for over a year now.  My turnaround times are always excellent (they acknowledge this to us in weekly emails), and I haven't had any complaints about my work.  I'm a certified MT with four years experience, and I'm thinking about asking for a raise.  They hired me at $0.08 per line.  What should I ask for?  And is it okay to ask after 15 months?  I know all they can say is no, but I'v ...

How Much Raise To Ask For?
Dec 02, 2012

After being with my company for a year, I would like to ask for a raise (haha). How much would you ask for and hopefully receive? 1/4 cent? 1/2 cent? A full cent? I think I do excellent work. I monitor the accounts even on the weekends and jump on when it's getting close to being out of turnaround, unasked. My supervisor does not have to worry about these accounts as I have proven time and again that I am "on it". Taking some stress away from her deems to be a legitimate reason ...

To The 35% Who Think They're Getting A 13% Raise.
Dec 18, 2014

Could it be that the "13% increase" equals the amount of the quarterly bonus you were receiving? That's what mine equals out to be. I'm in that 35% and I am not getting a raise when I figure in the weekly and quarterly bonuses I previously received. I am sure some are getting an increase, but I would bet it's more likely to be 5% or less. FFT 7.6 Needs To Come With A Raise.
Jan 19, 2015

Dear MModal, These cumbersome features are going to slow us down. There's no way around it.  Age and gender checks for example.  So when the dictator mentions the patient's wife and says "she," I'm going to get an alert for each of those because the patient is a male. The extra keystrokes, shift+alt, multiple times for multiple jobs.  It all slows us down, and then you will complain about the backlog, and we are complaining about our dwindling paychecks.  Talk ...

Anyone Have Any Advice On How To Get A Raise
Jan 28, 2010

from MQ.  I haven't had a raise in 5 years, am a tier 3 and only make 0.775/line.  I get the worst of the worst and would like a raise.  I asked for one a few years ago but was denied because of too many QA marker submissions - and I don't think my submission rate has improved at all because of the garbage I get.  Any suggestions besides finding another job?  Thanks for any help. ...

Have Not Had A Raise In 5 Years.
Jul 25, 2011

I am tier III and I still am not at top pay. Today I asked my CCM for a raise and she said she will put in the paperwork. Why do I feel I still will be denied even though I have met all the requirements. More than likely I will be denied because they do not want any MT to make above minimum wage. Also I really feel bad for the MTs who had their pay cut. That is just not right. I notice when I ask why the pay cut the answer is always to level the playing field and to make it fair to the other MT ...

No Raise In 11 Years
Oct 06, 2011

I am an independent contractor with 30 plus years experience, and have worked for the same hospital for 11 years, still at the same rate as when I started.  At the time it was a good rate, now not so much--outside typing service does the overflow easy stuff , we IC's are left with the ESL's, static and more difficult reports.  Know things have changed dramatically in just 11 years.  Also know the onsite transcriptionists (employees)  get a 4% raise most years.  ...

So I'm farily new-ish to MM and MT in general. MM hired me as a complete newbie about 9 months ago, and I accepted the rates they gave me (0.04 VR and 0.05 TR) because I was desparate for a job. Based soley on my memory, the person who offered me the job stated that there would be a consideration for a raise after 90 days. Okay, fine, whatever, I just want a job. Well, 9 months later I am still making the same rate. I haven't brought up the issue because I like to fly under the radar. ...

No Chance Of A Raise
Oct 27, 2013

As an MT, there's no chance of getting a raise or promotion, and so there's little incentive or motivation, especially being paid pennies per line. Yet, they expect you to participate in continuing education, which takes additional time and perhaps even money. What a joke. They don't expect crew members at McDonald's to take extra time off work hours, and they get paid the same amount. No point in complaining, I know, but it's so ridiculous. ...

How To Raise Rates
Dec 13, 2014

I have recently acquired an account.  I did not know what to charge and was unable to find out what the going rates were (no one wants to tell).  About 10 years ago, I was paid 12 cents per gross line but then went into being an employee until now.  Anyway, I ended up giving a price of 15 cents per 65-character line.  I went with character line because they have a funky format with very narrow margins and a small font.  I do not know still how it compares with what ...
