Have not had a raise in 5 years. - mom2huskies

Posted: Jul 25, 2011

I am tier III and I still am not at top pay. Today I asked my CCM for a raise and she said she will put in the paperwork. Why do I feel I still will be denied even though I have met all the requirements. More than likely I will be denied because they do not want any MT to make above minimum wage.

Also I really feel bad for the MTs who had their pay cut. That is just not right. I notice when I ask why the pay cut the answer is always to level the playing field and to make it fair to the other MTs who do not make as much. How is it leveling the playing field when we never receive a raise? The only thing they want to do is put more money in their pockets.

Sorry, I just had to vent.

I can beat that - sm

I have not had a raise since 2000, unless of course you count that "raise that replaced the bonus that they took away." Have been at so called top of pay scale and heard that excuse too many times.

That is wrong. - mom2huskies

No raise in 11 years, that is just plain wrong. But then again we work for the Q.

Me three! - Last raise was 1999.

I had to literally cry and beg for the raise. My mother died around that time and that is how I remember my last raise. The funny thing is, the raise before that was 1992. The raises were nothing. Something like 0.00000000001. I started with this company hourly. Yes, CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? HOURLY at $11.00 an hour and now they say I make too much after how many years?? 24 years???

I really do not want to work tonight. Makes me sick, but I have until December and then I am done with school and starting a new career.

I haven't had a raise in 7 to 8 years and don't make the top tier 3 pay. That's MQ fo - mqmt

I've not had a raise since I started in this biz, lost incentive pay, plus just got a cut to 3.6 cpl for editing with NO raise on transcribed lines, and this AFTER I was told that no changes would be made without my being informed FIRST....for the record, I was informed 3 days AFTER the pay period ended, and then was not told what the line rate changes would be, only that there would be changes....I had to find out by looking at my check stub.

because you will be denied - same boat

I am Tier 2 and got a pay cut starting today. Talked it over with my CCM and CMT will do me no good since I am capped anyway, I refuse to work 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. every day and my only choice was to try to tier up. Of course, my CCM was quick to point out that tiering up does not mean a raise, just that I would be ELIGIBLE for a raise. First thing they do is an audit. Leave it to the auditors to nit pick through all my reports (took them awhile, QASAR was full of audited reports) to find one that was questionable, flag it as a critical error and then deny me even the chance to test or question the error. So now not only do I not get to test to tier up, I now failed their audit and am on 100% QA until I pass their audit again. I am convinced it is a shell game with MQ the winner every time. Shame on me for even thinking that I was going to get the chance to tier up, they just used it as an excuse to shove me out the door.

It is a level playing field when there are no more US workers left.

I did hear back from my CCM. - mom2huskies

After 6 years I will be getting a 3% raise. It was nice that my CCM got back to me quickly. The sad thing is after passing with 99+ I had to ask for a raise.

That's interesting. My CCM said that MQ was not giving ANY - Kiki

raises at this time. Why would they dole out pay cuts for most of us and then give someone a raise? Doesn't make MQ sense. Unless you were already paid way below average to start with. But even then, not consistent with MQ's ways. ???????
I was surprised myself. - mom2huskies

When I looked at the pay scale I brought it to the attention of my CCM that I was way below the pay for tier III. In fact I am still not even at the top level for tier II.
I think I'd ask your CCM to at least bring you to - Kiki

the starting range of Tier 3. But then again, I just saw your post of being audited. Now it makes sense. Now THAT IS the MQ way.

Here's hoping you do pass their "audit." If they were going to make these new pay limits and cut some of our pay, they should also be hiking up the pay of those way underpaid, at least to the bottom of their tier. They are so unfair and I hope karma gets them one day.
I did ask. - mom2huskies

Her response was the most I could hope for was getting a 3% raise and that if I wanted to make more I would have to test to become an MME.
Already being audited. - mom2huskies

Immediately after stating that I would be receiving a raise I find that I am already being audited. So far I have had 99+ but they will probably keep on until they come across a report that is below 99 and say that I am not going to get a raise after all.

Pay Raise - WorkingMT

[ In Reply To ..]
Remember that survey that some people were being asked to do by their CCMs? I participated and told my CCM what I really thought about the pay for ASR, etc. I could not believe it when she called me back a couple weeks later and told me she was able to give me a raise to the 10 cent per line for Transcription and 6 cent per line for ASR. I thought it was really strange that I did not have to go through the whole audit passing, etc. Then I read about all the pay cuts that the MTS who were above 10 cents a line got and "evening the playing field." I should have known. My question is if this is the case why wasn't there a letter sent out to ALL MTS stating that there is a salary cap and what the new policy is. MQ never ceases to amaze me but at this point I guess I should really be happy that I got a little raise, but I can see right now it will be my last. I was making 0.9677 per line. It also really seems to depend on whether your CCM likes you or not. I have been with MQ 15 years, am Tier 3.

It was in one of the posts on this forum. - mom2huskies

[ In Reply To ..]
Otherwise I would have never known about this letter. I had my CCM send me a copy. I made sure to bring up that my pay for Tier 3 even with getting 99+ still was way below. Even with the raise I still will only be in the Tier 2 range. The more I think about it the more angrier I get that I had to even ask for a raise. If I had not confronted her she would not have given me any raise.

No Raise In 11 Years
Oct 06, 2011

I am an independent contractor with 30 plus years experience, and have worked for the same hospital for 11 years, still at the same rate as when I started.  At the time it was a good rate, now not so much--outside typing service does the overflow easy stuff , we IC's are left with the ESL's, static and more difficult reports.  Know things have changed dramatically in just 11 years.  Also know the onsite transcriptionists (employees)  get a 4% raise most years.  ...

Anybody Seen A Raise In Pay Over The Past 3 Years?
Jan 03, 2012

Has anyone gotten any raises in pay over the past 3 years?  I know in these mean, tough times gratitude for having a job is important, but my thankfulness doesn't stop me from knowing that I have not had any increase in my pay since I started more than 2 years ago with the company I work for.  I am curious if any transcriptionist who has been steadily working for the same place for the past 2-3-4 years has seen a pay raise.  I am  frustrated with rising prices ...

Is It Reasonable To Expect A Raise After 4 Years?
Sep 13, 2011

I have worked for the same service for over 4 years.  I am an IC MT.  I feel I deserve an increase.  I asked for one at the end of my first year and was told the economy was bad....blah, blah.  Ok, I understood that but now I feel I have earned an increase.  Yes, I realize that many feel an IC should just inform the service of their increase.  I know that would not fly with this service.  They could care less if you work for them or not.  Theyhave a "we wi ...

After Years And Years Of Being IC, Obtained Employee Status At A Co. Sm
Nov 26, 2012

Thought that after not having enough work for a couple years now and always chasing work, I'd now have a "real job" as an employee and wouldn't have to worry about a steady paycheck and paying the bills anymore. The reason I thought this was because at the interview and in their professional company emails, they use all the "real job" words:  Shift, scheduled hours, overtime, PTO, benefits, etc.  I felt relieved to finally have a "job." What a big bunch of BS! I was "hired" ...

3 Years. Question: How Many More Years Do You Plan To Be An MT/editor?
Dec 20, 2013

There is much speculation about the field of transcription - how many of us actually plan to be here 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. I realize that the field is going to change, which will contribute to your answer. Will there be enough transcriptionists/editors to fill the need in 5 years and in 10 years? Will the industry be forced out of offshoring because of taxes? Will there be a need even for editors if VR gets better? These are all unanswered questions, but my question is, what ...

Jan 02, 2012

So I've been working for a fantastic transciption company for over a year now.  My turnaround times are always excellent (they acknowledge this to us in weekly emails), and I haven't had any complaints about my work.  I'm a certified MT with four years experience, and I'm thinking about asking for a raise.  They hired me at $0.08 per line.  What should I ask for?  And is it okay to ask after 15 months?  I know all they can say is no, but I'v ...

How Much Raise To Ask For?
Dec 02, 2012

After being with my company for a year, I would like to ask for a raise (haha). How much would you ask for and hopefully receive? 1/4 cent? 1/2 cent? A full cent? I think I do excellent work. I monitor the accounts even on the weekends and jump on when it's getting close to being out of turnaround, unasked. My supervisor does not have to worry about these accounts as I have proven time and again that I am "on it". Taking some stress away from her deems to be a legitimate reason ...

To The 35% Who Think They're Getting A 13% Raise.
Dec 18, 2014

Could it be that the "13% increase" equals the amount of the quarterly bonus you were receiving? That's what mine equals out to be. I'm in that 35% and I am not getting a raise when I figure in the weekly and quarterly bonuses I previously received. I am sure some are getting an increase, but I would bet it's more likely to be 5% or less. FFT 7.6 Needs To Come With A Raise.
Jan 19, 2015

Dear MModal, These cumbersome features are going to slow us down. There's no way around it.  Age and gender checks for example.  So when the dictator mentions the patient's wife and says "she," I'm going to get an alert for each of those because the patient is a male. The extra keystrokes, shift+alt, multiple times for multiple jobs.  It all slows us down, and then you will complain about the backlog, and we are complaining about our dwindling paychecks.  Talk ...

Anyone Have Any Advice On How To Get A Raise

from MQ.  I haven't had a raise in 5 years, am a tier 3 and only make 0.775/line.  I get the worst of the worst and would like a raise.  I asked for one a few years ago but was denied because of too many QA marker submissions - and I don't think my submission rate has improved at all because of the garbage I get.  Any suggestions besides finding another job?  Thanks for any help. ...

No Chance Of A Raise

As an MT, there's no chance of getting a raise or promotion, and so there's little incentive or motivation, especially being paid pennies per line. Yet, they expect you to participate in continuing education, which takes additional time and perhaps even money. What a joke.
