Whoa ... the work is totally WIPED OUT... - anon

I checked the work load last night before bed to see if I would have much to do this morning. There was a TON ... as in, every account in the western region looked backed up, not just my accounts. I checked 5 minutes ago and there are less than 20 facilities with work. I've noticed this exact same thing on other holidays too.

I honestly don't think the global employees could've knocked out that much work overnight. I doubt it seriously. What I am beginning to think is that the work flow is manipulated and switched from domestic to global for the holiday. Think about it ... instead of paying us time and a half, they actually get the work done for LESS on holidays by having it all done by global. This would explain my TSM's big push to "work while you can, before the holiday dry spell". Hmmmm ... you're telling me NO ONE goes to the emergency room on New Year's Eve? Riiiight.

There was precious little in my group, normally not the case. - But you could still be right.

Even over Thanksgiving and Xmas I never had NJA once. I would have thought that medical staff would be less likely to take New Year's off than those other two holidays. And I was thinking the exact same thing, that more people would be likely to injure on New Year's than on a normal day! Although... maybe less chronic care patients are in over New Year's than Thanksgiving/Christmas time (when relatives might first notice how badly granny is doing and insist on bringing her in to the hospital).

All I know for sure is that I am glad my rent isn't due in the middle of the month because I would be SOL, baby.

I just started insurance with MM and my very first premium is due next pay check. Not knowing what to expect with my otherwise "predictable" pay check AND the unstable work flow this week has me heading into freak out mode.

Lots of people were trying to get any medical done by year end before higher deductibles kicked in. If they still had insurance. Gonna be slow for a while I fear.

Heres the thing....deductibles, etc - happens every.single.year.

I do mostly rehab notes. Some of the others like you do more acute care like ER and OP notes. January 1 people start over on deductibles and thusly do not schedule anything for the beginning of the year. So the people like me who normally type the rehab notes are now getting your ER notes, etc. because work is low for us. Also more MTs take leave during Thanksgiving and Christmas versus New Year's so there are more workers during this holiday pretty much more than any other holiday. Also given the fact we all want the extra money for holiday pay we usually type faster this day. it happens every single year. No big deal. Work will pick back up in a few days to weeks.

Can anyone give me insight as to what I may be doing wrong here? I applied to a large company as an IC for evening shift. I passed the first interview, took the test and was told I scored very high and the QA score on the testing was 99.9%. I have 20 years experience.
